[Blog] Vampire Killer Beaumont Engine - Jan 2023 Update #03

Trello Board

This is just a quick update so you know that I'm still working. Creating sprites is time consuming and I have to apply my art knowledge in a slightly different way.

Many of my sprites will, no doubt, continue to be tweaked over time. But these will be good enough for now. Since my last post, we've done the Whip Attack, Hurt, and Crouch sprites.

[Blog] Vampire Killer Beaumont Engine - Jan 2023 Update #02

Trello Board

Although I remember spending a long time "perfecting" Elayne's jump a while back, I've come to believe that the jump height is too short. She can still make the jump across 2 block wide gaps, but it's a bit less forgiving than in our reference games. Even Simon in CV1 has a slightly easier time with jumping up to a higher elevation across a gap. But I decided to go back and research our...

[Blog] Vampire Killer Beaumont Engine - Jan 2023 Update #01

I've been working on the Vampire Killer Beaumont Engine for the last few days, having spent most of my time working on bug fixes, but my primary goal was to fix an animation bug. I've noticed a few more bugs this week, so I still have more to do.

Don't forget that I have a Trello Board set up for this project.

[Blog] It Starts...

The next few days will be quiet until all of the pledges go through so that I'm certain  every one will see new updates. Let's start slow though. I don't want to promise too much so that I can maintain a sense of comfort & freedom, so just consider most of this as a rough plan of things I'm considering for the week.

First and foremost, I have a commission that I need to finish. That will be shared in an upcoming Sketch Collection (all Patrons)....

[Blog] Moving into 2023

EDIT: My apartment is leaking again (for the 6th time). It will probably be a few days before a maintenance crew gets back to me, so keep that in mind in case I'm absent for a period of time because my apartment leaks or something.

This will probably be the last post of 2022, so it's time to reflect on the experience I've offered and look to how that experience might look in the future. As I want to focus on new kinds of creative expression and community engagement, it's always ...

[Concept] Ashe of Lugos Town

Concept Art for an upcoming Elayne Beaumont story, further developments on a previously sketched character. I seem to be taking to the idea of a cowboy-like aesthetic. I've recently remembered that Overwatch has a cowgirl character named Ashe, so I may be reconsidering either that direction or the character's name.

[Blog] Feelin' Bleh

I'm feeling a little lost right now. It's not that I don't know what I want to do, but I can't help but feel like I don't quite know how to do it, sometimes. Or like my body doesn't want to do things. I've never suffered from winter depression, so I am not sure why I'm feeling this way, but it has impacted my productivity this month...

[Blog] Half-Time, time to go potty

Image Set

I've begun to sketch for that upcoming image set I previously mentioned, but I have reconsidered the project altogether. It has been distracting me from other work and caused me to engage with you less these last two weeks. And in all honesty, it would not make much money because few care about Elayne Beaumont.

While having more methods of generating passive income is good, focusing on this may be distracting me from more important things -- I may have f...

Beaumont Comic pg. 01 - 07 [NEW: pg. 07]

Work has resumed. Given the typically linear, chronological nature of a comic, new pages will be added to the END of the image list. So you will need to scroll over to see newly added pages.

Unless I do a thing where I don't do that. We'll see...

[Blog] Plans for December

We have entered December and I must resume work soon! That said, I do want to try something slightly different this month. Though, do keep in mind I will need to take commissions again, so you should see those works uploaded too.

Focus on Projects

I want to spend this month setting up some progress to projects for next year. That means I expect long stretches of silence while I work, with less focus given to Sketch Collection uploads so that I can focus on those large...

Get a Tentaclue 2

A sequel to the another illustration from this month. It might be cool to draw several illustrations that build up to a single narrative idea, so perhaps I'll do a third one. It looks like it's getting worse for them before it gets better!

In terms of image dimensions, this is absolutely the largest image I have drawn in a long time - it takes up the entirety of my canvas. They're massive, so I've placed the ...

[Blog] General Update - Sick & Game Dev Stuff

I've been feeling sick for the last week (since November 6th) and it got pretty bad on the second or third day. That's why it's been incredibly dull here lately.

My father tested positive for COVID-19, so it is possible that I had it. I was cautious of the fact that I could potentially have died and I didn't want to say something until Day 7 or 8, when it typically gets worse. Things seem okay and I generally just have a cough and some dehydration. Still sick though.

I should real...

[Blog] Vampire Killer Beaumont Engine - November Update #02

Get a Tentaclue

EDIT: Made improvements.

Elayne & Colette (psudonym) have found themselves trapped by a rogue tentacle. You can tell it's gone rogue because most tentacles don't do things like wrap around pretty girls who happen to be capable warriors but still somehow managed to find themselves in compromising situations while also coincidentally bound by tentacles, restricting their very movement so they are unable to bre...

[Blog] Vampire Killer Beaumont Engine - November Update #01

Since the start of November, I've been doing game development a bit each day (sometimes all day) instead of drawing. It's nice to be productive in other ways besides drawing, but I still feel uncomfortable because, like... It feels like I'm not working and I will upset the consumers.

Anyway, here's some recent developments concerning the Beaumont Engine.

[Blog] October Mission Accomplished

Thank you for your support during October. It was fun drawing Zelda stuff again, but I did start to feel tired after the halfway point... Daily art challenges are hard. At least I managed to end the month strong and played with interesting creative ideas.

[Blog] Thoughts about The Grind (tm)

The Grind

Lately, I've had difficulty creating long-form essays to express my thoughts. Creating an interesting flow of words that both serve their purpose and sound smooth is difficult… But I've been thinking a lot lately.

I've grown tired of playing "the social media game." Removed from the obvious importance it has in my career, I'm starting to wonder if obsessing over success is worthwhile. It certainly feels like the last few years of struggle have been futile, so why con...
