This work was originally intended for the latest Concept Art & Discussion thread (for $7 Patrons), but it clearly became more than JUST a sketch. Though it's still pretty rough. The idea was that it is possible to communicate darkness without pure black.
The background utilizes shades of red, violet, and blue -- though the cooler hues probably just look black, despite not ACTUALLY being black.

I think I went softer with my rendering than I usually do (with exception to the cape. The area right below the elbow is the only area I'm confident in, with the harsher lines in the shading. Softer edges are tough when it comes to shading, as I'm sure I've said before. I think the arrangement of blues & reds in the legs, in particular, are pretty appealing though.

I suppose this is a relatively quick piece -- albeit more refined than my usual ones. It's not as ambitious as I'd like, but I had to get used to my new settings. I had to factory reset my computer earlier this month, so my pen pressure has changed.
