I had an incredible day off at Mass MoCA in North Adams Massachusetts. One of the coolest things they have there is the Gunnar Schonbeck exhibit, complete with a room full of homemade instruments. I spent sooo much time in there recording samples and taking notes. This thing sounded great in the room.

solo tour starts this week!

Good morning friends!

The solo tour starts this week and I wanted to share the “tech rider” with you all. A tech rider is an info packet that performers send along to venues to give them a heads up about what they’ll need to have ready for the show.

I also made one of myself as a clown in slide 2.

Slide 3 are some theme notes I took reading an advance copy (quit bragging, Sean!) of Ocean Vuong’s excellent new novel The Emperor of Gladness, coming out this month.

A little map of Sean’s little studio

Last year I recorded this awesome band called sewerbitch! in the little studio room at my house.

Before the session I wrote out my plan to record them with this little birds-eye map, marking which mics go to which channels and roughly where the mics will be positioned. Then I set a cup of coffee on the map!

I wouldn’t say I am a very organized person, and that’s precisely why I need to make little maps like this- So I can find my way back when I get lost!

Hung Up (mix 2)- A Dear Nora cover

Hi everyone!
It's been a while since we put up any music and Ben recently unearthed this unfinished banger we worked on during lockdown.
It's a cover of a Dear Nora tune. The basic performance of guitar and voice was recorded during a Live From Quarantine and then Ben, Sean and Preston threw down some overdubs. Then, like many things over the past few years, we got distracted and forgot about it!
