April Update

With my next contract starting Monday*, I was hoping to have this page fully drawn & assembled yesterday, so I could ink & color it this weekend.  My depression had other plans, though.

I had two layouts in mind for this one, though now that I have them side by side, I think the second one might be the better choice.

* While the contract may start Monday, I'm still not sure when my role will start, especially where between Wednesday & Friday I'll be flying to Michigan an...

Once I'm healed up...

My arm's feeling better compared to yesterday, but I don't want to push my luck just yet.  Plus other than more Maya work, the only thing I have lined up is the next Bustin' Loose page.  I think the suggestion box is overdue!

So, what should I draw once my arm's vacation is done?

Tendinitis can eat all the dicks

My drawing arm may be useless for a few days, or however long it takes for tendinitis to heal.  This has been bothering me for a few weeks now, but last week while I was latest Bustin' Loose page, it got to a point where I couldn't ignore it.  So what did I do?  Instead of properly resting my arm, I changed gears and started working on Daisy's model and some new rigging scripts.  The good news is the script that will set up 2018-03-15 17:36:19 +0000 UTC View Post

Making Faces

I'm sinking back into old habits, working on several things at a time...  The lastest is Daisy's model - after getting her clothes modeled, and spending a bit too much time trying to improve the way her legs deform, yesterday I switched back to her face.   I think it's coming along nicely, so soon I'll need to figure out the rig for her eyebrows.

Today, my main project was coloring page 7 of Bustin' Loose.  I should have been able to get it done in one sitting, but my wrist...

As of this morning, the last major part left for me to model is the bow for Daisy's apron!  And I can re-use the bow from her shoelaces, to make things easier!

The downside is after I'd barely gotten started today, when my wrist decided it was time to take a break.

In Case You Missed It

I'm in a sort of holding pattern again, as I wait to hear of any forward movement on this contract.  In the meantime, over the weekend I'd been working on Daisy's model, and sharing my progress on Discord.  Mainly I was working on her clothes, but at one point I decided to tweak Daisy's breast size, at least temporarily.  I've been drawing her bustier than ever lately, but I really noticed how much when I loaded up her model.

Here's an interesting one...  the original version of this might be two years old at this point, if not older.  I wanted to really go all out with the color - sun beams shining in from the left, complementary shades of purple on the right...  my abilities and methods just didn't line up with that goal, though, so I never finished it.  Instead, I ended up tweaking the pose and using it for a 'mic on!' corner image for my Picarto streams.

And this chapter is DONE!  I think.  It's already been extended a couple of times, and I do have some ideas that could keep it going...  but at the moment I'm exhausted.  Plus my latest contract could start as soon as Monday, so my free time will be limited for a while.  I know I've been saying this for the past few months, but I might just turn off billing this month to make things a little less stressful...

Discord & Updates

Lately I'm getting more used to posting status updates & WIPs on Discord, I forget that not everyone may be using it. Then again the process for connecting it to your Patreon account is confusing... One big update - over the past week I've been working on the next comic page, and I'm hoping to have the sketch version posted here within the next few hours. I'm sort of racing the clock because I fly back home this afternoon. Back to the comic - right now I'm torn on whether to start inking...

Recovery time

What a month...   one contract left me with just enough time to draw & ink the one comic page, but there's been no time to color it.  Another contract was supposed to start just as the other was completed, with the idea being that we would complete this second one before the 15th.  Unfortunately for me and my team, the client's lead artist was out sick all week and couldn't get us what we needed, so work ended up intruding on our vacation time.

Scribbles!

It's been a rough day, so how about some scribbles?  I'm sure I shared most of these on Discord, but I can't remember if I posted any of them here.

Today was rough for a couple of reasons.  One - I'm working on a set of animations that I have no interest in doing; and two - these animations (and skinning the character first) have interrupted what I thought would be a week spent drawing the next comic page.  Just as I had started drawing, the call came in for me to jump on this c...

Added Transparency

As you may or may not have heard, Patreon recently made some changes to their fees.  It used to be that they'd take a percentage out of the total processed pledges each month.  Now they're taking less from the artists...  and instead charging you extra.

What I don't know is how transparent they are being, apart from sending everyone an email about the new fees.  Do they tell you how much your pledge is actually going to cost you?  Just in case they don't, I will.  ...
