Needing A Push

One bright side to being contracted for the next few months, is I have direction and no shortage of things to work on in that time. The downside is that I also have so many things buzzing in my skull, that I forget to pause my Patreon. Combine that with wanting to draw anything to take my mind off of work, while having no ideas BECAUSE of work...

Cutting to the chase - I think it's time I drew Daisy in a variety of cute outfits, and I'm open to suggestions. Not costumes or anything impr...

MOvember!

..."Movember" isn't something I can remotely deliver on right now, but I couldn't resist. It has a nice ring to it.

I was hoping to have these finished last night, but a coworker just had to contact me well past business hours, just as I was sitting down to draw, over something he was able to resolve before I could even respond. I'm still pissed at him for throwing off my groove.

MORE THUMBS!!

A few more ideas from the past month, only one of them Halloween-related.

Down in the lower left corner, I pictured Monique letting her hair down, and having it drag some distance behind her. But, according to the discussion on Discord, realistically that wouldn't be the case? I don't exactly consider my work to be the most grounded in reality, but I would expect gravity would still have some effect...

Over on the right, there's my annual "maybe I should reduce the size of Daisy's...

Were-Mo catch-up

If I'm going to fully draw anything for Halloween this year, the clock is ticking. Today has so far been a much-needed rest day, so that really only leaves tomorrow. I have no shortage of ideas to pick from, but work has been a bit taxing, lately.

A little over a week ago, I started a massive update to my employer's characters. The characters' rigs aren't any different from a user standpoint, but they're all shared now, so it's easier to add controls across all characters. Plus I added ...

Five More Minutes - After Work

A deleted scene, taking place at the end of the first day of Daisy's captivity. I only cut it because I don't think it adds much to the story, and I wanted to get to The Next Day quicker.

Post-Hurricane Update

Still alive! My phone's connection has been spotty at best, though, so getting messages to the outside world has been difficult.

Considering our house is only about 1000 ft from the Peace River in Punta Gorda - and we're not far from the coast, either - damage was surprisingly minor. We lost a screen door. That's all. We were worried when our street started to flood, but those waters never reached the house.

Now it's another waiting game. Waiting for power to be restored (it's b...

By Request

Summer is more or less over, and Halloween will be here before we know it...  so if I'm going to do anything related, I'd better start planning it now, because work isn't leaving me much time or energy to do anything creative on the side.

Ideas have been bounced back and forth on Discord, but nothing has really stuck. And then yesterday the image of were-poodle Monique popped into my head. It woke up that part of my brain, so at least it's something to work with!

Comic update

Update #2 - over the past week and a half, I've been getting up to speed with this new job. And Thursday night, I started working on a script that I'm not even sure will get used, but hammering it out gave me quite the headache. And some time this coming week, I'll be starting for real.  What that means in terms of me finishing this page... doing the color and shading tomorrow might be overdoing it, but we'll see.

Update - today feels like a ...

Thumb-twiddling

Last week I'd more or less committed to simplifying my comic pages, so that I might still be able to get 1-2 out per month while I'm under contract. I was expecting the job to start Monday, so I wanted to have my next page done - in black & white - by then. Neither of those things happened, though. I'm told the contract should be signed & verified today, so in the meantime I've decided I have time to color this page after all.

My approach to color and backgrounds for this page i...

One Loooooonnnng Weekend...

What a difference a few days can make - I went from having an abundance of time to devote to the comic - though slowed down by financial anxiety - to now scrambling to get this next page finished in the next couple of days.

I still can't believe how quickly it happened. Last Monday, I was hit with the reality that staying afloat with commissions may not be feasible, at the moment. Later that day, my boss calls me about a potential gig that could last at least 4 months. 3 days later, ter...

Size Demonstration

Taking a break from everything this past weekend - and being mostly without internet - I had this idea for a short comic of Monique discussing different penis sizes (with Daisy being a less-than-helpful assistant). Now the question is do I save this for when the current story is finished, take a break from the current story to hammer this one out, or see if I can't alternate between them?

The Next Day, part 2 - 3D blocking

One side project I've been thinking about jumping onto, is a simple model & rig that can be used to block in different characters for sculpting, or even as quick reference for images. But as simple as that model might be, my best guess is it would take a month or more to put together and rig. But rather than waste a month on that, it's much quicker to use Daisy's rig to place Alice in this scene.

The Next Day, part 2 thumbnails

This week I'm plotting out the next few comic pages. I know more or less what's going to be said on each page, the trick now is making everything fit. Next I may lay out the camera angles in 3D, both for background reference and to make sure the angles I have in mind will work.

So much for plans

This week is going a bit different than I'd hoped. Losing my glasses is proving to be more limiting than I thought it would be - my computer screen in particular is far enough away that I need my glasses, but it's also close enough that using my older backup pair strains my eyes. I can draw on my tablet just fine without them, but when it's time to ink & color something, my choices are to wear the glasses & strain my eyes, or hunch over my Cintiq and strain my back & neck.

I...

The Next Day - page 1

FINALLY finished with this one!

As much as I hate doing backgrounds, I'm kinda proud of how these ones turned out. I'm also going to be taking a day or two off before diving into the next page, because working on the first panel's background was draining even in short bursts...

Luckily the next two pages don't have backgrounds, so they should be much easier to hammer out.

A good distraction?

The other day saw some good progress on the first of the next 3 comic pages - most of it is inked, and the characters at least are colored!  It was also my first livestream in years, which confirmed that my internet connection can handle it!

Yesterday, a series of unavoidable interruptions throughout the day kept me from working on the comic page. To pass the time between those things, I put more work into my Mall map/model thing.

Today is so far looking like more of the same...

The Next Day, page 3

One more page to draw - just two panels, down from three - and then I can start inking & coloring this section!

I cut this page down to two panels, partly because it didn't need to be three, and also because I didn't want to draw three. Drawing in general has been difficult for me, lately, and before too long I could have a new contract that may force me to push the comics aside. So the quicker I get these three pages done, the better.

Update - Finally, a bit ...
