A VERY FAST MARBLE SORTER

Hi everyone!

After the last video I got tons of suggestions to build a marble sorter and here we are. I would suggest you to try and guess how fast do you think this end up going before watching the second part of the video.

I must say that I had a contingency plan to make the "selector" out of an Odrive S1 but as you can see it wasn't necessary as the solenoid ended up being bonkers enough.

This was a pretty straight forward build that in the end was complicated by me ...

A MARBLE CLOCK THAT (DOESN'T) DISPLAY SECONDS

Hi everyone!!

I've been fighting with the new marble clock a lot lately. In the rush of the moment, printing recording, assembling... is quite hard to realize what's actually going wrong and this video is a great example of that. After the last video I thought everything was A-ok and ready for showtime but this last bunch of days of constant troubleshooting have shown me that that is not actually the case. In the end I suspect that the blackening process on the marbles adds too much fri...

BUILDING A MARBLE CLOCK THAT SHOWS SECONDS!

Hi everyone!!

Is evident that I lost my marbles and now I want to do it faster!! I'm trying to build a clock that can update every second and that, I can tell you that that comes with its own set of hurdles.

At this point I'm pretty sure that there's someone out there with the job title "marble dealer" because it is damn hard to get the marbles you need how you need them.
I hope you like the video and as always I'm eagerly waiting to read your comments.

BUILDING A MARBLE CLOCK PT4. - NOW FASTER!!

Hi everyone!!

As I promised in the last video I tried my best to make the clock update minute by minute. It wasn't an easy feat as I dealt with many (expected) issues. As many of you will notice I'm still having lots of issues with the marbles getting stuck on the machine as there's about a 2:5 ratio between good and bad marbles. If anyone knows about a good source of glass marbles please let me know. I had to do a bit of fiddling with the programming to get the timing right and I broke...

BULDING A MARBLE CLOCK PT 3

Hi everyone!!

It took a while indeed but it works!! The "small" issue of the marbles getting stuck everywhere brought me to do one redesign after another which in the end took me to reprint every single piece on the machine but at least it solved the problem. In addition to reprinting everything I had to use steel wire for the marbles to roll on because any minimal imperfection would get the marbles unable to start rolling from a standing stop.

While I was at it I moved the ...

3D PRINTED MARBLE CLOCK PT. 2

Hi everyone!!

What was going to be a two video project seems that its going to be a three video project. I managed to get the marbles sorted and to display the time but marbles are marbles it seems and they get stuck here and there when I try to change the time so I'll need to make some "minor" modifications to the clock so it can actually tell the time.

I also need a whole bunch of marbles and most probably will need to make it go faster if I want to be able to tell the time minu...

3D PRINTED MARBLE CLOCK PT.1

Hi everyone!

I've always wanted to build a marble clock, in fact, I have quite a few design ideas for making one but I chose this one because I thought it was the easiest one (insert facepalm here).

I decided to upload it as a two part video because it was taking forever to make it work and the video was going to be super long so here it is. In this part I assembled and tuned the entire marble run and the marble lift which completes the circuit and the two gates that w...

GIANT ROBOTIC HAND

Hi everyone!!

I guess once you have a few giant 3D printers building a giant rideable robot is just one step away, right?

I've been tempted many times before to build a giant robot that I can ride and this could be the first step. A giant robotic hand that I could put on the robot to do robot stuff.

If you think it would be a good idea to start such a ginormous project please let me know down below because it is starting to feel more and more interesting everyday.

I MADE A COPY OF MYSELF

Hi everyone!!

The second part of the giant 3D printer is here!

On this video I make the bed frame and the bed heater and put the printer to work with a scan of myself. I had a blast with this one and printing myself was definitely funny.

Please enjoy the video and as always let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Thanks!!

I'M BACK!

Not that I knew that I was going to be away for this long but anyway...

I've been working on a new giant printer build for the past three months and this is the video of the first part.

I started this build because lots of people asked for the files of the previous giant printer but, as often happens, the design ended up being a bit of a mess so I've taken the time to design it again from scratch making sure the design is good enough to be released just in case anyone is as ...

GIANT 3D PRINTED RC EXCAVATOR BUILD PT.2

Hi everyone!

I finished the excavator at last! This thing is lots of fun and very fragile. I, again, went too far and this thing is too big for this kind of design. I recon I could try a different design using the blocks to make an excavator at this scale that doesn't "autodisintegrate".

I'll send you all a 100% discount code for my store so you can go and grab the files for the blocks just in case you liked them and want to try them by yourselves.

TESTING THE MIRANDA MINI BLOCKS WITH AN EXCAVATOR

Hi everyone!

Trying to build the Go Kart to race Matt Denton found a lot of flaws in the design on the blocks but I found even more things that could be improved. I had built the "mini" version of the Go Kart but I needed something with more "engineering punch" to do the final test to the design so I went for an excavator.

This has proven to be a good project to test the design because I found lots of more improvements along the way and I'm loving these blocks even more the ...

LEGO INSPIRED GO KART PT.2

Hi everyone! The second part of the Lego Inspired Go Kart build is here! This time I focused on the Miranda Blocks design and tried to make more sensible progress by testing the Go Kart Design with the newly created Miranda Blocks Mini.

There's still a bit of work to do on the Mini Blocks but I'll hope to be able to release them soon on my shop and free for all of you on Patreon.

As always please let me know your thoughts down below.

LEGO INSPIRED 3D PRINTED GO KART PT1

Hi everyone!

Last spring I tried Matt Denton's 3D printed Go Kart at Makers Central and I loved it so much that I challenged Matt to a race. He accepted so I have to make one now.

I've been wanting to make my own building blocks for a long time and this looks like the perfect project for that so here we are. One of the things that I like about having building blocks is that It will drastically reduce the discarded plastic that I will produce when building large stuff just fo...

AT LAST, A 3D PRINTER WITH COREXY KINEMATICS

Hi everyone! I kept doubting until the last minute while designing the printer but in the end I caved and went for the corexy arrangement on the XY axis belts.

It was easier to implement than I thought and harder to understand than I anticipated. I had to even make a prototype to wrap my head around the concept and still I'm not entirely sure about how to adjust for squareness but I'll get there eventually I'm sure.

I went all in with the motors because I hope to be able to ...

A 1 SQUARE METER BED FOR THE BIG PRINTER

Hi everyone!

The Big 3D printer build continues and the next step was to assemble a heated bed to go on top of the bed frame that I built in the last video.

I decided to swap the mirror for a glass as I wanted to give it better looks and also to be able to show the four squares where the different heated pads are under the plate so I can save some energy by switching on only the area that the part is going to occupy.

This build didn't come without hiccups and had to le...

BIG 3D PRINTER BED FRAME WITH POWER!

Hi everyone!

In this second episode of the new big printer build I added the bed frame and the z axis motors and belts.

I was already worried about the rigidity of the frame and after reading all the comments I knew I had to do something about it so I added cross braces in three of the four sides (because I need to get the parts out through somewhere).

As I needed something to move the motors with, I installed the Duet3 MBHC that will control everything. I've used that...

THIS TIME I ALMOST WENT TOO FAR

Hi everyone!

This one has been in the oven for a very loooong time, and it is finally time to bring it to life. This one is new 3D printer is going to be huge! The planned print volume is 1000x1000x1420.

It is going to have a moving gantry on top and the bed will go up and down. I'm still debating myself about wether to go the HBOT or the CoreXY way but I find hard to justify the advantages of the nimbleness of the CoreXY configuration in such a huge printer. The gantry is planned...

3D PRINTED DESKTOP CNC ROUTER

Hi everyone!

After using the Tiny CNC that I made back in January for a while I've been wanting to improve it and make it more rigid. The natural next step for that router would have been to machine the plastic parts in aluminium but I was sure that the rods and bearings were way more important in terms of rigidity so I set myself to redesign it using linear rails. In the end I started the design from scratch and every single 3D printed part in it is new. I've tried to keep it as compat...

BIG 3D PRINTED TANK FIELD TEST

Hi everyone!! I've been doing a lot of work on the tank to get it ready for this field test. I think it looks very cool with those lights and I'm really happy about the new control panel, it does everything that I need. I wasn't that happy with the pedals that I designed a few months ago so I did a complete redesign of the spring mechanism and now I can safely rest my feet on them without fearing pushing them accidentally. I also reprogrammed the Arduino used to control the motors which now a...

The Giant 3D printed tank got a hopper!

Hi everyone!

After getting the cannon working it was time to add a hopper to truly see what the fire power of the tank is. As you can see in the video it was an eventful process as I got tangled in a few improvements that even though weren't strictly related to the hopper, They made the tank 10 times better. Drifting on such a huge thing in such a closed space is way more difficult than I thought (phew).

The tank has suffered through the time it was waiting for me to r...

THE ALGORITHM OVERLORD

Hi everyone, I've been talking recently with some savvy friends about Youtube performance and we've got to the conclusion that that dip at the end of every single one of my videos is making Youtube recommend my videos less than it should. I will have to end the videos more abru...

THE CONTROLS FOR THE TANK TURRET

Hi everyone!

I'm right now recording the video where I install the hopper on the tank turret for an insane fire rate but I wanted to show you a peek into what's coming next for the tank.

These are the first and second iterations of the design and as you can see I added not only controls for the turret but also controls for the tank itself. There's a key to enable all the controls on the tank, including the drive and pedals. A soft emergency button that will stop everyt...

3D PRINTED TANK GETS A CANNON

Hi everyone!

The Big Tank project is picking up speed! I keep underestimating how much work is to make progress on this beast but I'm enjoying every second of it. In this video I added the cannon (at last) and added the tilt mechanism and the ball conveyor and ball revolver that feed balls into the cannon. The ball feeding system is a hybrid from the last two ball launcher builds as the revolver separates the ball hopper from the airstream and gives a constant launch rate and the convey...

THE GIANT 3D PRINTED TANK GETS A TURRET!

Hi everyone!

After three years of waiting the end is near! In this last video I made a turret for the tank and made it spin very fast! Hopefully in the next video I'll be able to put a cannon in it so we can launch some balls.

In this video I try a couple of things that I've never tried before, one is the cable slider that allows for infinite spin of the turret while being wired to the tank body and the other is the giant Lazy Suzan style bearing the turret sits on top of. W...

I TOLD YOU I DIDN'T FORGET

Hi everyone!!

I finally got back to the big tank project! This was more fun than I even remembered.

Many of you may remember that the tank had a clamshell style cover, and it seemed like a good idea to me at the time but it had two 30 Kg gas cylinders to help with the lifting and those pushed the lid forward constantly when the lid was closed. That shifted the cover forward and bent the back of the frame, a couple of the hinges also broke. That paired with the fact that it was goi...

3D PRINTED DESKTOP CNC ROUTER

Hi everyone!!

I wanted to try a few new tricks so I designed and built a new 3D printed CNC router. I also wanted to add a really small one to the line up that doesn't weigh a million tons as the CNC mill that I remade in steel weighs a ton, it weighs so much in fact that for now I can only use it on the floor as I cannot lift it ( I need a crane).

Please take a look at the video and let me know what you think of it. I'll put the files in the shop at soon as possible and wil...

I MADE AN ELECTRIC GUITAR THAT CAN'T BE PLAYED

Hi everyone!

In this last video of 2021 I built an electric guitar for the marble music machine. I got good advice from Carlos Anjuda from Anjuda Guitars the same that made the CyberBass for the MMX.

The design is very intentional as I'm planning on automating the chords with a device that will use a lever to press the strings.

I'm having a lot of fun with these music machine videos but they're not doing very good on YT so I may move them to a second channel so I can k...

A MARBLE MACHINE BUT PROPER SIZE

Hi everyone!

After the last marble machine video I started trying to figure out how to better solve the issues that I had already found and one thing led to another... and now we have a big marble machine.

The top half of the machine is just a place holder for a future structure (TBD) and it is quickly tacked in place with the welder.

I added a diagonal brace on the inside of the lift so the marbles don't push the lift back and release themselves, it kind of works unless the...

I MADE A MARBLE MUSIC MACHINE (for real this time)

Hi everyone!

Do you know when you're sitting at your desk, you get an idea and think is going to be a week, two tops? And then you start designing and that alone takes a week and a half, and then printing everything takes another two weeks and by then you just are two far in to quit? Well, that happened again to my with this video. I started  designing a marble dropper and one thing led to another and now we have a complete marble music machine.

The latest premise...
