#4 A pre-podcast for video #107 coming out soon, Christmas in July

I'm seeing if I could record one of these before I start editing the video. My 3d printer is too loud, and thunder is in the background. Not great for the video, but perhaps interesting for a podcast for my Patreons.

What video for this week?

I'm trying to decide if I should do a Christmas in July supercut this week of candy cane videos and cover the history of Christmas is July. We make a batch of candy canes ever year on July 25th to keep in practice. I could shoot that, but the video probably would not be up until the 1st.

Any thoughts?

Jake making more Grape candy.

Yesterday Jake made some more grape candy. I was supposed to make some lavender today but it was raining mind you we had a very good lollipop party for some kids which managed to make it through the rain by some miracle. Air pressure change in the humidity plays havoc with candy production.

Tomorrow I've got to run the 9th annual ice cream eating competition here at Lofty Pursuits. I guess that lavender candy will have to wait until Monday to be made.

#3 Grapes of Wrath Of Kahn

I could not get that pun into the video, so sorry about that.
This podcast is about the Grape Video I'm going to post on Thursday July 18th 2019. It may actually go up before the main video. I'd suggest you watch the video first. As I am typing this, it is rendering in the background.
This is still all experimental, so I'd love to get feedback on this Podcast.
This contains the full interview on Grapes I made with Dr. Nadia Bernstein. I thought the background banter was i...

Some Jazz from New Orleans

A few weeks ago I spent a few days in New Orleans. I saw Weird Al, and Kinky Boots, and went to listen to an old friends Jazz Band. Brett Gardner (a member of the band) used to play at Lofty Pursuits.  I thought you'd like to hear some of his new bands music. The band is Smoking Time Jazz club. You can find them at http://www.smokingtimejazzclub.com

I just thought you'd like to hear them . Brett is the Guit...

Cooking with fire.

About to cook chicken fricassee for the family. I spent the evening going down an internet rabbit hole on the history of chicken fricassee. Since you're so interested in this, the answer is that there are records going back to 1300 with the first use of the term in 1490. It is definitively French and origin although now we braise the chicken before we put it in, and back then they stewed the whole thing. Julia child's spoke poetically on this saying that a fricassee was something between a sa...

Notes from Greg

This week's project is to install cabinets to the house and to learn how to use a 3D printer.

I said I was going to give you some behind-the-scenes updates. I'm not sure what I'm going to use this for but it's always good to master a new tool when you get it.

Grape Drops

Just added grape drop candy to http://www.pd.net

It will ship in about a week. So many people asked about grape due to the last video I thought we'd make some in a simpler design but with all the flavor.

The annoyances of candy making

We made three batches on Tuesday that all tasted burned. We thought it was a bad thermometer, but once we calibrated the equipment, (put the thermometer in boiling water) it was fine and not the issue. We thought it could be a bad batch of citric acid, then we thought it was the corn syrup. Testing showed we had a bad barrel of corn syrup. Don't worry, none of this shipped. It seems that one bucket of corn syrup came pre-burned. Sad, we lost two days of production and three batches of candy b...

More 100 candy packs

We have a few 100 candy packs left They are free with the coupon code "100" if you order more than $10 worth of other stuff.  We will continue to ship it as long as we have it. Use the code, if you get a free bag of candy, shout WOOO!. If you don't it means we ran out, but we will try to turn off the coupon as quick as we can so nobody has to suffer through that. If you don't know what this is, watch video #100.
