We were going to do this for Cinco de Mayo

In our beer experiments, we made candy from Corona. Do you think if we posted it it would go viral, or is that a bad idea?

It tastes great, but is it in bad taste? Feedback needed.

If you look at the top of the glass, you'll see we are going to include lime candy with this mix.

Podcvast #34 Working on more beer candy, electronics for a calliope, helping a friends business and letters

Today's podcast is about ... well life. Designing a new flavor and testing some stories. I continue with the conversion of a Calliope to MIDI control, and I talk about marketing and how I'm helping Circus Kircus market their circus in Tallahassee.

It's going to go for the public tomorrow, but for you tonight.

Just finished editing it. I know it's a bit short, but that's all I had for this one. Next week Irish Coffee, and that has more of a story.

Put a cork in it.

I was wondering last night while drinking some wine how corkd were made. I know the material is the bark of a tree, but how did they make them around and do all the other stuff. I found the strange little video and I was fascinated that the machinery was very similar to the candy machinery that that taffy place that I went to in Myrtle Beach uses. I thought it might interest you too.

I've been working on my Calliope

If you have not been listening to my podcast, you might not know I got a Ringling Brothers wagon to use as storage, and a calliope. You see I've wanted one since I learned that there was a soda fountain in Queens NYC that had one that they played for birthdays.

A calliope is sort of a cross between a player piano and a pipe organ. I've spent the last three days fixing up what was wrong with this one, and here it is for it's test run.

I'll have a lot more about this in next w...

That was the week that was, sorting through circus stuff.

While Jake and Nate made lots of candy, I did not make much of anything this week, I just worked on catching up on sorting all that circus stuff.

The circus I found in that trailer.

#28 A Tradeshow, Getting the Ringling Wagon, updates on Piruli's and leters

I go to one of the largest if not the largest retail trade shows in America. The trailer arrives with a surprise inside, and I read your letters. (We got letters!)

Weirdest thing I've found in the Ringling trailer so far.

These are blueprints to build the turtle girl gaff. not only will it tell you how to build this but it has clear instructions and how to make the tent for it, how to do ticket collecting for it, and how to paint banners for your new sideshow attraction.

More stuff arrived

I still have to get the calliope., But this trailer I got from the same circus auction arrived and to my surprise was not empty. There will be an unboxing video.

#27 Greg in Ybor City Florida discovering Piruli's a cone shaped lollipop of the region and following it's history.

I went to Ybor City near Tampa Florida, and in a museum I discovered a regional candy I did not know about, but one that was an important part of the memories of the region. In this episode I explore the history of the Piruli and  how it effected the community and other Hispanic communities in this hemisphere. \

I spent four days in Tampa.

I visited Ybor City twice this week. like everyone who gets there I was fascinated with the wild chickens that are everywhere. I decided to do chicken portraits as I seem to like images of chickens.

I also visited the local museum and found a vintage candy connection but I hope to explore a soon. I need to get back to get to a real library to do some research.

I just got a Calliope!

Today I was able to find something at auction I've wanted for yeas. A calliope. This is a 48 note calliope supposedly and working water. You know I never went to the auction expecting to own one, but I've wanted one because there was a classic soda fountain that was open from the 1800s until who knows when called Jahns in NYC that had one. It's located about 30 minutes south of Tampa. Road Trip!

I'm sorry I haven't been posting my notes recently. The whole holiday season got completely...

Bubbly Champagne Drops

I just posted this and wanted to give you first dibs on them. Champagne drops that bubble in your mouth. Last year I made an image candy version of this, but the drops emphasize the bubbling effect.
