Apologies we only ended up with 4 pages this month! As mentioned in a previous post, I spent a lot of time this month training, studying, and animating. The pages that have come since have looked better in my mind, but I suppose time will tell.

Art Journal and Inheritance Delay

You may have noticed Inheritance is a bit behind schedule. This is because I spent the last two weeks practicing. My apologies. I was beginning to stagnate a bit as an artist and I wanted to find areas of improvement and avenues of insight. Hence all these sketches, paintings, animations, etc.

I think it's fair to say it's paid dividends, and while I have a way to go, I think I can take a break here to work on more pages for you guys.

This might be as far as I take this. I've learned about as much as I could here and color would take me ages. I might add some voice later though? Could be fun.

Sorry for the delay in comics. I haven't been sleeping well due to a medical issue. I'll catch up, but have an animation in the meantime. Hesitant to finish it since I'm already about 15 hours or so into it, and cleaning it would probably double that. Should I spend more time on stuff like this?

Inheritance 3-11

Hello! Another page for you today. I've had two people ask how often pages are going to be released, so I wanted to cover that real quick.

I've been doing a lot of practice, doodles, gifts and other such things (bout to upload a bunch) but historically I upload 1-2 pages on average a week. It's been as low as 3-4 a month and as high as 12. Really it just depends on when the final stages line up, whether there's color, etc.

Axeron's Acquisition (Inheritance Fanfic)

It's looking like Inheritance is about to start up again. To hold everyone over, Axeron graciously finished their fanfic over the holidays and sent it over for all of us to enjoy. I've included the older chapters as well for convenience.

Reminder, this isn't canon and Inheritance doesn't go this way, this is just an incredibly gracious gesture by a patron and I enjoyed it. Inheritance will see you guys after the AR sketches are inked up. :)

I got a comment with a few upvotes asking what's going on with Inheritance. Nothing crazy. Let me explain for those what I've been thinking and then we can decide where to go.

So sometimes I have flights of fancy. Turn is a good example, as is this comic here. I had these sketches done beginning of October and they were just sort of sitting around waiting for ink. Sorry for the slight delay on the last Maku page. Still coming, but been working on a couple edits for Maku. I'm just about back to full steam.

It's been a pretty crazy month! Drunk dude crashed his car into my yard and slept there all night, my washer and dryer broke, grandma had two strokes, I had a herniated disc for several days, and of course Thanksgiving happened.

Turn Soundtrack

I might need a couple more days to finish the demo so I don't absolutely destroy myself. If you were supporting me this month for the demo, fear not. Week 3 Update

Since there haven't been any comics this month and works been pouring into a Halloween build for Turn, the devblogs continue! This week I spent a lot of time and had more than one headache over upgrading the version of Unity I'm using.

There were many reasons for this. Newer versions improve the quality and performance of the renderer, as well as offer some features I didn't want to sink time into coding from scratch (like animated tilemaps).

Turn - Week 2 Progress

Turn - Engine Update Progress

The refactor is nearly complete. I wanted to share what's been going on for the first 7 days. The dialog system has been revamped. The character class has also gotten a major revision.

Mainly though, I've learned to code extensions directly into Unity's Timeline system. This means all the cutscenes had to be redone, one of which is what I wanted to share today (there are still some fixes to do). I hope you'll agree that the things it allows me to do make the cutscenes a lot more enjoyab...
