I feel like I haven't posted any finished art in a while.  I've been spending so much of my free time on Seeking Asylum. Once I get to a certain point I'll start actually finishing some of the pages!

I think I'm getting better and quicker at outlining the composition of comics.  SFX and dialogue, however....  IDK, I just don't have as much patience for it, partially because it's pretty cumbersome to play around with in Photoshop.

This month, Sylv will become a scorpion! 🦂 It'll be the first time they've featured in a monthly comic.  I enjoyed having a biome-specific set of prompts, so I'm gonna keep that going!  This month's theme is the Amazon rainforest, featuring the river dolphin, piranha, Marmoset, Tapir, and Poison Dart Frog.

Capybara Studies

Some 'baras.  They're so shaped.  

I didn't find a tooon of interesting capybara facts that aren't really common knowledge about them, but here are a couple:

• They are most closely related to guinea pigs.
• Their typical group size is 10-20 individuals, but groups as big as 100 have been seen.
• It's thought that their chill behavior is because they feel safe in such a large group, and they have dedicated individuals on the lookout for predators.  ...

July 2023 Character Poll

June Update

Capybara won by a landslide!  And Chad won by a slim margin.  

July's Animal Lineup will be between a Hare, a Rattlesnake, a scorpion, a tortoise, and a roadrunner.  I think a desert background would be a nice change of pace.  Adding a few extra options this time, because I think there are enough of us now to make a larger pool of options work!  

Speaking of which, I think it's time I added a new character to future lineups.  and I thought it might be...

This page is pretty long, so I'll most likely split it.  I haven't been worrying about consistent page length since I'm not printing this into a book or anything, but I think it'll flow better if I split this one.  

Also, I hope it's not too distracting that I haven't been very consistent with how I'm coloring these wips.  My works in progress just tend to be like that.  :P

Got back from my shift and wanted to draw something to keep myself from forgetting how to draw, because I have to go back tomorrow.  It's an angry drawing because I don't want to be a clerk for 8 hours again tomorrow.  >o[  

I'd rather be a scary little monster that doesn't have to be nice to people uwu

May 2023 Comic: Roly Poly

I've been a bit burnt out the last few weeks, but wanted to get this finished before I properly take a break.  

Tried experimenting with a thinner lineweight.  I can never decide whether I like thicker or thinner lines better.  Thicker is definitely easier to make clean, but thin lines are very elegant.  

Colored the lineart commission I got from Boardom on FA!

I wanna get better at adding backgrounds that don't distract so much from the original image.  I included one without, and I'm not sure which one I like better.

I'm pleased with how the shading turned out, even though I don't really feel like I know what I'm doing and don't have the patience to think very hard about it.

I'm considering working this page out of the final comic, because it's not 100% necessary and it's already dragging on a bit too long.  I like it when a character shows a bit of personality before a transformation, because it gives more context for what's changing.  But since she's already an established character from an existing IP it's probably not necessary.  We'll see how I feel about it when I get ...

I sort of worked on this page congruously with the last one, so it's finished a bit earlier than usual.  

I'll probably refine some of the expressions and dialogue when I move on to finishing these, it'll be easier for me to see what's awkward (and why) later on.  For now I mostly just want to get a good sense of composition and story beats.
