Watched a mini documentary about Whang-od, the oldest traditional Kalinga tattooist in the Phillipines. 

She's such a bad ass looking old lady if you ever Google her, I'd love to draw her one day. For now, here's a sketch I did inspired by the tattoo art.  It's a hand tapped tattoo style reserved for head hunters. On one hand its nice that there isn't a need for head hunting as much anymore. On the other, there's a whole art form that may die with that.  Very interesting ...

For this theme we're going to just kick back and relax in a hot springs resort. I've always wanted to go visit one!   

Was given free reign over these 2 to go as lewd as I wanted. But tbh, I cant help but imagine  these 2 relaxing after a long running DnD campaign, haha!

Onsen: Nao

Nao's gotta get all that hair up before she takes a seat in the hot springs.  I'm surprised she entered of her own free will, with how cats normally hate the water. :P 

Onsen: Kitiana

For this theme we're going to just kick back and relax in a hot springs resort. I've always wanted to go visit one!  

First time drawing this OC for Kitiana, I hope I got the details right! Covered some of her face a little more since her hair is wet. She's got ice powers and at first I was going to add some little icebergs, but if that were to happen the hot springs would no longer be hot, haha! 

Onsen: Masaru

For this theme we're going to just kick back and relax in a hot springs resort. I've always wanted to go visit one! 

Masaru requested his character in a swimsuit. While traditionally you are supposed to use an onsen naked save for maybe a towel, some resorts allow people to enter in a swimsuit if they're too shy. Which is why I included her modestly pulling a towel with her. :) 

Froggi Armor and Ludroth Hammer

Wanted to sketch some MH armor. I do miss me some Royal Ludroth and Great Froggi! I'd say MHP3 and Tri onward was when you started to see more 'themed' oddball armor. A lot of armor from previous MH titles felt like medieval knights armor. 

Valkyrie

Wanted to sketch a girl on a motorcycle. Added some fantasy and post apocalyptic elements to make it more interesting! Cant decide which to continue with... 

Kimono: Djohoe

This Patreon wanted a 'Gintama' pattern and colors on an elaborate kimono in a specific pose, so I hope I combined all those elements well enough! It was certainly fun to sketch. :) 

And with that, April has concluded and its on to May's theme: Onsen!

Another pair of Patrons that wanted a couples pic! Both happen to have insanely curvy ladies so it was interesting to try to apply a traditionally form restricting kimono to that. Originally wanted to go with a 'geisha and shikomi' type of situation, but couldn't with the characters ages. So we're just having a fancy lady with her kimono dresser instead.

Another cute miqo'te, in an elegant furisode. My favorite type of kimono, the longer the sleeves the better! Wanted to go for a gentle vibe with this one.

I tried to make a tight, leather/latex kimono for Kirih. The kimono referenced fell off the shoulders but a fur stole was requested, so I kinda shrunk the fur so you can still see exposed shoulders haha!

Another FF14 character in kimono! I'll admit I'm not familiar with this character. With how she was originally dressed I liked how she had little daggers strapped to her, so I wanted to carry that over. :)

This kimono was a bit of a challenge as I had to design something futuristic. I tried to give her something grand yet modern, In her actual dress she has a skirt that acted as a moving canvas, so I tried to make this one feel like many pieces of canvas with some flower petal ink splatters that can move around.

The good old bedroom kimono lounge wear. Always a classic comfy fit, and great on days where its too hot to get dressed after a shower. Haha!

When I sketched this I was imagining her as a prim and proper inn keeper of a traditonal ryokan, haha! Each of her baths would have a fresh supply of rubber duckies every morning.

A cute lalafell in a cute kimono, what a delight to sketch out. I like the addition of the paperboy hate, makes it feel more towards the Showa era!

Vocaloid Beach

It's getting hotter and I'm listening to more Vocaloid. Sketched these girls up last night and tonight! Hopefully I can find time to finish later.

Sneebly's hyur has such a de-saturated palette while the kimono the picked was quite vibrant. I thought it'd combine the outfit's shape with their existing colors for a mature yet cute look. :)

Planet asked for their character to be dressed in something sort of a mix between Geese Horward and Baiken. Really tried to make her look stoic and tough!

I always enjoy drawing everyone's ideas, but I gotta thank Humbaba for picking characters he knows I'm a fan of, haha! He asked for the kimono Miku wears in 'Hold, Release; Rakshasa and Carcasses'. It's a very old Vocaloid song about the cruelty children can inflict. Actually if you are able to read into the metaphorical lyrics it's about something even darker than ...

Got to draw a cute wolf relaxing with a fresh cup of tea. I miss relaxing with green tea so much, it always helped me snap my mind into focus and still be mellow. Was hoping to catch that here!

2 characters in one! What looked like an easy pose to base off of turned out to be more complicated than I thought, haha. That's how it goes sometimes.  I'm not familiar with the series these oni are based from but I see plenty of fan art of them a lot. Its a very cool look. :)

... but I'm always down for an Au Ra commission, just saying. They are the best race in FFXIV so its hard to turn them down.

Sailor Moon Redraw Challenge!

I did the Sailor Moon redraw challenge while chatting and screen sharing with some artist friends on Discord. It was a fun challenge and a good way to test how 'streaming' on Discord can look like. 

I've never seen Sailor Moon aside from the movie where Luna becomes a human to date an astronaut. Astronomer? Can't remember, haha. This is the first time in a very long time I've drawn a fan art for something I'm not a fan for the hell of it.

Found a ramen girl sketch I posted quite a while ago, turns out I did more work on it sicne then than I remember! Would like to finish it when I have the time.
