Hey dudes, I want to make more posts about writing, but I don't really spend a lot of time analyzing my own writing process. I just kind of do it and it turns out well generally. (That makes me sound like an asshole, but if I think about it too hard, I make a mess of it.)

So, when I went back to actually thumbnail this page and go over my dialog for edits...I realized that comics are a visual medium and I can just draw a fucking diagram instead of having Marisa explain shit to people for panels and panels. WHAT. Sometimes, sitting down to actually draw this stuff is the only thing that brings ideas to my brain.

I've been trying to work on some more design-oriented prints in my "spare time" to give my brain a werewolf break, so I should have some neat stuff to share with you guys soon :D

A preview panel cuz I got nothin'.
This panel will toootally make sense probably. I'm trying to get more stuff up here, but I've been running myself ragged lately trying to get the comic done and also put my house together and mow the lawn or whatever.
I guess I can talk for a minute about one of the odd ways I approach writing this comic, though. One of my main rules is to just be super indulgent all the time. I can always cut stuff out if it's over the top or doesn't fit, but if something appeals to me, I'm going to ass...

Mermaid inks
So, this is turning out pretty cool so far. I've actually already done the fills on it, but I wanted you guys to be able to see the inks by themselves first. She's based on the elegant sea snake, which is very venomous and lives in Australia because of course it does.

I'm almost done with the inks for my mermaid drawing, so I'll be posting that a bit later, assuming that the crushing weight of my existence doesn't just land my ass on the couch to watch Forensic Files until I rejoin humanity. I'm having a fun mental health week!

I had previously posted what I was working on for Volume 1's cover, buuuut I didn't end up liking it in the end. Malaya's hair was hella impressive, but it wasn't working for me. So, I made some more thumbnails.
The giant circle in a lot of these is a vintage "phase of the moon" chart I recreated, which I really want to use. I think it'd look cool if I could get it printed with gold foil.
