Meet Khan. Khan just turned 20. He is a super relaxed python snake. This is Khans second shoot with me, and hopefully not the last. Always a pleasure to work with him. Very professional :)

/Bella - Reflections

This set was more of  a lucky find. while we were out on location, I happen to look out over into one of the fields and saw this big puddle and immediately thought how cool the reflections would look.  I'm hoping to shoot one last set in the same location before it dries up, so keeping my fingers crossed it works out. We had to shoot quickly, because the cold was getting to Bella, but I think we managed to grab some cool shots.

So, tried a casual Jason shoot similar to the Freddy Kruger one. Also shot a bunch of other emotive beauty stuff, but that will be posted later. Bella came out again, and we managed to get a bunch of stuff shot before she froze to death :)

/Bella - Wash Away The Blood

I have a habit of photographing everyone I shoot with blood and clay as they are cleaning off. I used plastic again in the cinder block shower, and tried to light it with a set of new led light tubes in the shower behind the plastic so they didn't get wet from the water. Though I set them to white, it gave a weird blue tint to the images I wasn't expecting, but I kind of liked it, so I color graded and tweaked the colors to have that eerie blue glow.

/Bella - Whos Face

More fun horror and bloody stuff for October. Honestly, blood never gets old. I love shooting this stuff. Its messy and creepy, but is still somewhat beautiful. Bella was shaking so much because the blood was getting cold, so we had to shoot quick. I changed up the lighting on this set and mixed natural light with a warm light to bring a little extra color in. Im not sure if it worked out the way i wanted, but I think some of the images turned out really cool. We used the real face mask I have (which now I have 2 of) that I had made from a special effects makeup artist in Australia. Still one of my favorite props.

I think the ones of Bella laying down are my favorite in this set. The shadows look incredible.

/Bella - Portraits

Got the chance to meet Bella and shoot a bunch of beauty and horror stuff. I probably shot way too much, as it was hard to get the set down to a reasonable number to edit. I think out of all the sets we shot, I had 1500 pictures to go through. Normally, I like to keep it under the 500 mark, since most of the time when i shoot, there are several images that look the same. Just one image might have that right angle of the face, or the way a shadow rolls across someones body to make it stand out. I'm envious of those photographers who seem to be able to get that perfect image in one shot. But they are probably lying just to make themselves look better than they are, so I guess Im not really that worried about it.

Just a casual Freddy Krueger afternoon, with some cats. I always wanted am Elm Street glove, so I picked up a replica, with real knives. This was just a quick shoot for fun. Might do Jason next :)

Jamie recently reached out to me and wanted to work on a project she has wanted to do for awhile. Of course I said yes!

This was from her original post:

"The smile that you gave me even when you felt like dying."

I've  been wanting to do a concept like this for a few years now. It's open-ended and can be relatable in several ways, from emotional abuse to mental illness that rots from within. I aimed to do a shoot that  captured what it would look like if I visually looked the way I felt  inside my head.
Sometimes your funniest friends are also the saddest,  and at times it's not from outside stresses. Other times chemical  imbalance and trauma just eats at a person in ways that it can't be  halted but it can be coped with.
Sometimes it's not even about being  sad, just the condition of a person after enough general mental  wear-and-tear. Living in survival mode, burning the candle at both ends,  the token punchline of jokes, the brain being rubbed down like an  eraser until it finally gets help from medication.
It's not a cry for  sympathy, but a map that leads to better understanding. Being at peace  though sometimes you feel like you're in pieces.
Imagine how different the world would feel if we all looked the same on the outside as we feel on the inside.

/Lux - Opening The Portal

The last 4 images were based off a tattoo design I found that had this anime style dark girl in a similar pose with a large black snake wrapped around her body. It was all line art but I thought it might look cool if we shot it for real, but with tentacles. I mean, who doesn't love some tentacles :)

Everyone seems to be on the AI art kick lately, now that Photoshop has a built in AI generator. I think its a good tool, for speeding up editing processes. Using it for creating extra objects within a photo composite, well that's just not for me. I feel like it cheapens the work. So I hand built the tentacles in Photoshop using stock footage I took myself over the years of different textures. It took 3 hours to build out the first set, then I just used the puppet warp tool to change them up a bit within each picture. They are not perfect, but I think I got them pretty close and I am happy with the result. So no AI art here. All hand made.

/Dalia - Quiet Places

Always enjoy working with Dalia, and lucky for me she enjoys working with me. She wasn't feeling good on this day, but we knocked out some photos before calling it. I wanted her to go home and get some rest. She ended up waking up the next day sick in bed and asked if I was ok. I told her I probably drowned the ickys away with a few glasses of whiskey :)

I have plans eventually to do a horror set with her and Korey, as well as some emotive intimate portraits hopefully soon once both of their schedules open up.

/Holli - Window Light Portraits

Holli used to model quite a bit. She has always been an amazing person to work with. Her sense of humor always puts people at ease on set whether she is behind the camera or in front of it.

I lost a lot of our earlier work, but still have a few sets uploaded here. Check out the Holli hash tag to view everything we worked on over the last 5-10 years.

Holli also has a Patreon she started for her photography work. [Patreon]

She also started a new Instagram for her more artistic work: [holligrafterdark]

/Gina - End Of Fall

On this Day, my friend Holli who used to model and is now a photographer already set aside time to work with me. So she asked if I can try and find another model after we had a cancellation. Whenever I have a cancellation , I usually post up to see if anyone else is available to shoot, and the last few times Gina has been available. So, of course I'm going to work with her again :)

More Blood, because hey, its spooky season. This was a fun set. Korey wanted to do something different with the blood this time, so we went with more of an American Marry, or American Psycho concept. Lots of laughs on this one while we were shooting.

/Gina - Red Shoes

As we were shooting our first set, we did an outfit change and Gina brought out these red shoes. The smoke machine I have also has colored LED lights. I always have it sitting on the ground, so I thought why not see what the red light looks like on the red shoes. Sometimes trying things just ends up working out really well. I think this set turned out really beautiful. The way the light creates shadows across Gina's body give it an emotive cinematic look.

/Upcoming Shoots

Quick update on my shoot schedule for the rest of this month. I booked my next two weekends with several people to shoot. It’s going to be a mix of beauty, horror and fine art nude sessions. As of now, I have 4 sessions booked with two more in the works. It’s going to be a busy end of the month. Hopefully I can get outside this time. The studio stuff, though I like the way they are turning out, is getting to feel the same. I want to change some of it up.

I’m still editing Gina’s sets we just shot last weekend, but will try and get some of them up this weekend. They turned out really beautiful. Gina is amazing in front of the camera. Feeling inspired lately. 👍

/Gina - Clean Up After a Horror Shoot

Aftermath of our horror shoot. Luckily, I have a creepy cement block shower in my basement that the previous owner built (if you want to call it that) Works great for cleaning up all the messy conceptual shoots. And, its got warm water :)

/Gina - Horror

I love shooting these bloody horror sets. They always turn out so cool, and beautifully haunting. Gina had been wanting to shoot something like this with one of the masks I made. I ended up using a fog machine, but let it fill my basement completely. So a small mistake ended up working in our favor to create a creepy atmosphere. I used another simple light set up which I hung in my ceiling, then used shutters to control the spread of light. Gina couldn't see through the mask in the dark, so I just grabbed different angles as she was posing and contorting her body. I think the end result turned out beautiful.
