Finding the level I want for my backgrounds.

Hi guys,

Just spent two day on this piece and really happy with the outcome.  I love getting lost in painting details.  This is actually referencing a view just 100 meters down my road.

I will need some B-roll shots for my animated short film and this will be one of them.

I am currently putting together the video for this so hopefully I should have one out soon on my Youtube channel. I want to talk about the 2D textures I use and apply to my 3D base before I start ...

Start of a New Year!

Hey guys! Hope you had a great start to 2020! 

I got around to finishing up the animation of the characters in this scene the other day. The guy picking up the bouldering crashpad ended up being 74 frames, which was very time consuming to create. Really happy with the result tho.

This will be the subject of my next Youtube video that I am currently working on.  I will need to add some birds flying in the background and some particles in the air perhaps.

Progress on the shot from the last video

Hey,

Wanted to share where I got today with this shot. Took a lot of time to paint details but I like where its headed. Next will be to start animating the characters for the shot. Will most likely be the next video I put out.

This is still a WIP and it will need some Depth of field and light rays etc. But that all comes later in the composite stage. :)

Exploring formats for YT videos

Hey friends! I just wanted to update you on what my next video will be about.
I quite enjoyed creating my last video in real time as it makes it informative in a different way. The quicker breakdowns are cool, but watching someone work in real time is interesting in a different way and it might make it easier to understand the process.

Design progress for my Characters

Hey,

Today I finally got the main character designed for the upcoming film. This was something I really needed to get done to get going with the animation. I am excited to work on some of the first shots including the final characters. The second guy still needs an outfit design, so that is whats next, but I am hoping to put out some episodes in the near future about the animation process of these guys.

I think this style will work well with my background art and I am also hoping ...

Background art for my film - WIP

Thought I would share some progress on one of the backgrounds I have been working on the last few days.  This still needs a character and also a bit more painting work to get rid of the full 3D look.

It's a pretty close model of one of the rooms in the Innsbruck climbing gym, and since this town has a big climbing community I thought that could be a cool Easter egg to have in the film.

Will probably make a breakdown video of the final shot  for YouTube soon.

This is the animation I will go over in an upcoming video. I went fully traditional on this one with pure 2D animation. Might make it a slightly longer format where I show more of the process. This stuff takes time, but I think it could possibly be interesting to see some more real time workflow.

This is not part of my upcoming film but purely a fun exploration.

Working on a new video

Hey you guys! Thought I would share some teaser material with you. This shot will be animated and will be the subject of my next video on Youtube.  Animating this water is a lot of fun. I think this hits the perfect balance between 2D and 3D that I am after.
