Status Report - July 23, 2022

We're now beginning the Planning Phase for The Arson Betrayal, Act II - Chapter 1. Basically, this includes storyboarding and creating a rough outline of how the chapter will go and gathering the assets needed for it.

Simultaneously, a small side-story will be released as an interlude for Act II. More details will be released about this in our next Development Log.

The Arson Betrayal - Chapter 5 Rerelease

Yeah, I know what you're thinking...

"What the hell is this? I thought you already released Chapter 5-"

Well, this release isn't anything new. I just updated the links since I uploaded a newer game version with the bug fixes and typo corrections incorporated. As you may have noticed, the former links are taken down for this purpose.

One scene with a very special MILF had a missing label which caused an error whenever you chose a specific choice, which has been fixed. Some typos and dialogue errors have also been corrected as well, and a minor point allocation error too.

Overall, no major changes nor game-breaking bugs are present, but if you wanna be sure, go ahead and download it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Of course, our MC will still be working as a bartender, but not in some fancy café but rather in some rundown tavern in the middle of nowhere together with the courtesan Sydney, all ran by the gunslinging, cattle-rounding owner Bailey.

On the way home, he'll probably encounter some bounty hunters trying to apprehend Alice, an outlaw who's got a huge bounty over her head, who will then proceed to shoot with her trusty revolver.

 And then the story goes...

Was just in the mood to do this, so maybe we'll get to see the girls if the game was set in some other alternate universe.

It looks like our main girl topped the polls for the month of June! Sure, it ain't Easter, but no one in their right mind would refuse a girl wearing a bunny suit.

Developer Log 0.16

Estranged friends, necessary risks, and desperate measures. 

With every corrupt cop and thug on their tails, our protagonists are running out of time, and making their way out Ablesmith City would be their only hope of surviving.  

This update has been a long one; it took months of hard work to deliver it to you all! Right now, we have officially entered our testing phase while simultaneously wrapping up the content of the next update. Our new script change didn't bring up any problems with older saves so far, so that's one less thing to worry about. For those who downloaded version 0.4.5., I'm sure you all had a glimpse of our new Quality of Life settings and a couple of main menu revamps, all of which will be fully implemented on version 0.5.0.

One game feature was the in-game walkthrough, which is removed for the latest update. As you're all aware, the game has branching choices, and unless a mod comes out to let players see through all the scenes, the game in its design was made to make each playthrough unique. That said, a walkthrough would more or less be complicated. A choice with 'negative' consequences in one scene might bring a more exciting option in later scenes, and as you all know, some scenes vary whether you've done the deed with some of the girls earlier or not. If anyone wishes to try their hand at a walkthrough, be my guest!

All that said, I would like to thank all Patrons, Subscribers, and players who helped in supporting the game to what it is today.

Now for the news everyone is waiting for, here are the (tentative) release dates for The Arson Betrayal, Chapter 5:

• July 10, 2022 - Arson Tier
• July 15, 2022 - V.I.P.s and Federal Agents Tier
• July 20, 2022 - Whistleblower Tier
• July 25, 2022 - Tourists and Fugitives Tier
• July 30, 2022 - Public Release

The reason it's still tentative is that there might be unexpected bugs or game-breaking features that'll be found during the testing phase. If everything goes well, then it'll be released following those dates.

We've still got a long way to go, and our protagonists' stories have only begun.

Developer Log 0.15

As of today, we've got more than 1K+ new images (and still counting) and about 40+ animations (and more incoming as well). If no problems arise, I'm pretty sure everything (including the testing phase) will be done this month. No promises though.  

Before jumping to Act II, a couple of earlier scenes will also be remade, including some dialogue and typos which I may have missed before. Mainly continuity errors, but you get the idea. I hired a friend (he said he'd work for free right now) to help me with some spelling/grammar stuff I usually often overlook. Hopefully, you'll be seeing fewer typos in the next updates (If not, I'll kick his ass for not doing a good job)  

I know this game is being made with the HS1 engine, but regardless, I've been talking to a few devs regarding characters, maps, and texture assets in order to maximize the capability of the engine being used, to at least make the graphics at par with other HS games out there. Could be developer's pride, but so far the graphics are somewhat the flaw a majority sees in the game, so we'll change that.  

Lastly, we finally have Discord Emojis!

That said, I'm looking forward to releasing 0.5.0. I hope you'll all enjoy it and I'll see you all in the next update.

Developer Log 0.14

As of today, we have 1,037 renders and 23 animations for Chapter 5! There are still some scenes left and then I'll move to the coding part.

I have to admit that the game's getting big, and we'll have to keep the future Android ports as compressed versions altogether. I've tested it and there's no noticeable difference.

While waiting for the update, do check out the newly reworked prologue! I really aim for consistency throughout different scenes even as the story progresses, so I'll be working on updating the older chapters from time to time. The main update will still be my priority though!

That said, I also changed a specific scene in the prologue which we'll deem as 'controversial' character-wise. It's not anything major, but it does make a certain character's values and morals more aligned with who they're designed to be. If you have an idea in which scene this is, then feel free to comment and discuss it!

Of course, I've been squishing a few bugs and errors here and there, so if any problem arises, feel free to contact me via Discord. We'll certainly look into it.

I'll be keeping this dev. log brief so I can get back in working at the game as soon as possible.

The Arson Betrayal - Version 0.4.5

The remaking of the prologue and early scenes is done. So far, it's a total rework of the entire prologue and Jessica's café scene. It's now released for download.

Some major changes to the script are also implemented. There shouldn't be any problems or incompatibilities with old saves, but I'll be using this opportunity to check and polish everything before the eventual release of Chapter 5 (0.5.0).  

You'll also notice a decrease in file size, thanks to some optimization tips from my fellow developers.   Version 0.4.5 will also incorporate the bug fixes.
