The Kenku took the early lead and never looked back, these will be fun batch to play around with!
As far as direction I'll need to try a few proportions out and see what feels best, it seems to be either shorter torsos with bigger heads or a taller more elegant form. The only other thing I'd like to do is some small feathering off the arms as a reference to the wings they once had. Short and non functional, along the lines of the the first layer of feathers in the bottom middle image.

Ok so there is a lot going this month!
First up we have the Xorn which is part of the normal bonus design schedule but then some extras got thrown into the mix that I couldn't let go to waste.

Done another detail pass over the base Tortle then started playing around with making accessories and weapons for the group. Picked a few colours for reasons.... and layed a bunch of the parts out to see how it all comes together.
After seeing it I'm pretty confident we will end up with a kickass set! Each one will get it's own custom treatment and arrangement of bits like usual, you can see the start of that in the last 2 images with the beginnings of a permanent sword holding so...

Quick little update with this chonk of a tortle.
I think I've got the proportions where I like them, it's feeling nice and heavy which is what I wanted. The skin still needs to be roughened up but I can start messing around with accessories and give it some more character while I do that.

That was a pretty convincing win for the tortle!
I had a look around at what's been done then went and collected a few images that grabbed my attention. Most mini designs I found lean more into the monk/druid direction but I really didnt see many badass takes on them and that's a direction I'd like to explore.
Obviously there is certain group of turtles we could take some inspiration from for loadout but we'll deal with all that once a base is established.

Some of you may have noticed an update to the next goal and seeing how we almost reached it last month it's probably time to make a bit of noise about it!

I've got some general proportions worked out enough to make a decision on which way to take these guys. After seeing both I prefer the shorter squashed torso version, it will help prints with how small they are as well.
Either way they probably need some thicker legs and maybe even shorten each section a bit as well.

It's not hard to see why either, this is a way better design than the typical 5e look. I'll get a base mesh going, play around with the torso lengths and we can choose which way to go from there. Both the short and long proportions look cool but its always easier to compare when they are side by side.

This is where I'm currently at with the cultist designs, I figured I'd make a female version as well while I was at it!
They are pretty much ready for posing and a final pass along with some additional details so they aren't all identical but the robing will mostly stay the same, it is a cult after all...

Like all the moodboards this is a bit of a brain dump for the general direction I'm thinking for the cultists. I like the idea of them wearing a mask, books and daggers are a common theme as well depending on the poses.

So I started with the original beholder sculpt and carved away at the meaty bits to come to what I would figure the skull would look like, which actually worked really well!
I'm playing with the eye stalks and planning to make them separate and removable with a ball joint type key so they could be positioned however you like, not used at all or printed in clear for the floating eyes look.

I made a few versions cycling through the transformation so you can mess with people starting from a 'normal' goose and then unveil the terror as you go! This was a fun little design as stupid as it is but that was the whole point, it's always good to make stuff like this every now and then.

So... this isn't quite where I expected to end up after the moodboard lol
Let me explain how I got here.
I was doing more research for reference and having a look at other designs to see whats around. The humanoid thing is the default option and its just been done so many times I could see why some people weren't interested in elementals at all.
Going down the jacked route offers something a bit different but it's still just 'jacked fire guy' next to 'jacked water guy...

So there are a few broad ways to approach these designs, semi humanoid with a more formless shape, semi humanoid that's more defined or even going more of a monstrous\animal direction.
I think they all have their own strong points and I'm not particularly drawn in any direction just yet but it does look like the more formless path is the way most people approach it. I'll have to experiment a bit and see what works but I'd like to hear your thoughts as well!

Had a bit of time in-between votes to knock up some extra designs and I've been wanting to fill out the rest of the Sorrowsworn group so I made a start on it!
