Karin T-Pose (September 2023 Model)

This is the T-Pose of Karin that I've been posting its WIP for several weeks. I want to pose her further but it's almost Halloween, so I'll try to create a Halloween model next month. Hopefully with a pose.

Like always I'm experimenting a lot with my workflow, this time I use UDIM textures for the first time, it is supposed to add more details since certain parts will have their own UV tiles. I'm still not fully taking advantage of this tech to the fullest, but I'll improve and share it with you.

Karin WIP 4

This is probably the last WIP this month. I'm trying to create a fishnet layer and this is the result. It's amazing how a single layer can make such an effect! 😁

Karin WIP 3

With new UDIM support on Ucupaint, painting more details can be more fun, since the eye and the face have their own tiles. I also tweaked the face and add subdivision surface modifier. The hair is using transparency effect so the brow can be more visible.

I tried to model her ponytails, it's all manual polygonal modeling and has no subsurf yet. I made the shape close enough to final pose that I will target so I don't have to edit them too much after posing.

I'm trying new things today, I'll try to update you on the WIP of what I'm working on this month. I'm currently working on Karin from Blue Archive, I'm still working on the head, the hair modeling is not finished yet and it still has no subdivision surface. Kisaki (July 2023 Model)

This is the final render of Kisaki. I experimented with geometry nodes to create cloth and hair animations. I also tried to create looping particles using geometry nodes. I already tried this kind of thing before on Hasumi, but this one has a simpler setup so it's supposed to be easier to tweak. Regardless, I hope you like the end result!

Kisaki (WIP)

This is basemesh WIP of Kisaki rendered using Eevee. I originally wanted to finish this into a full model, but I only got very limited time to work this month due to various life events. I still tried to add more detail to this basemesh, so I hope you like my progress so far!

If you followed my Twitter, I tweeted some techniques that I used for this model, like this & this. I tried to post them on patreon directly, but it won't allow me to post videos at the time. Since then, patreon got updated to allow post videos, so I'll try to post more videos here next time. There are some techniques or even addon that I haven't shared yet, so stay tuned. 😊

Shimakaze (May 2023 Model)

This is the final render of Shimakaze. I'm experimenting with cycles sky rendering, sparkly sand shader, and geometry nodes for the clouds and water surface. Those things can be pretty tricky to execute. Regardless, I hope you like the end result!

Hasumi (April 2023 Model)

This month's model is Hasumi. I actually to planned this to be the March model, but it's more difficult than I thought. As usual, I'm struggling a lot with the animation. To be honest, I'm not satisfied with the end result. I don't think I'll experiment with animation again unless I have a clear direction. Regardless, I hope you'll still like it. 🙏

This is the other Houshou Marine model that I've been working on for the past few months. I'm experimenting with animation again, trying up different poses but ended up just like what you saw above. Moe (WIP)

This is a WIP of Moe from Blue Archive. I've been experimenting with a new shader technique, so the face looks a little bit flatter now. I get inspiration from this account. The nice thing about the technique is the eyes are kinda always following the camera.

Anyway, if you follow my stream or watch the timelapse, I use manual poly modeling a lot. I realized it can take a lot of time to just create a simple detail on the model. Because of that, I got an idea to create sculpt layers addon that can help me add more details more intuitively in a non-destructive way, just like ucupaint. I'm still developing it while creating this model, hopefully, I can share more details about it soon.

Houshou Marine (July-August 2022 Model)

This is the final result model of Houshou Marine. I also compiled all the streaming footage to become a timelapse, you can access the timelapse here

I'm not sure if I'll do this kind of timelapse again, since the total footage is about 50 hours, so it's really a nightmare to edit. Maybe I'll do a timelapse again if the actual footage isn't that long. 

Since I streamed the process, people gave me feedback in real-time. Thanks for that, now I'm already thinking of several ways that I can do to speed up my workflow. Hopefully, I can implement that in the next stream or something.

Ucupaint is now available to download!

Finally, after all these years, Ucupaint addon is now available to download on Github. You can learn how to use it on the documentation wiki. The docs aren't 100% complete yet but hopefully, it's enough for you to get started.

Thanks for always supporting me even before the addon is released, now you can open the blend files again and see how I use this addon to create the materials.

Feel free to ask me any questions about the addon. I also created a thread in Blenderartists in case something useful is discussed there.

Demon WIP

I tried to create an original character again this time with a somewhat gun-carrying demon. I'm still really not sure about the color scheme, so it's probably not final. I also plan to create little animation again for this model, so I decided to not use subdivision surface modifier again to make the playback easier to run.
