Lee gets her portrait painted by a guy who only just recently took it up.

This was the result of a six-hour practice. Still a hell of a lot to learn when it comes to digital painting but I think this merits showing off a bit.

Lee's Fashion Sense

I've been hooning the painting tutorials lately and I'm really enjoying my newfound art powers. Once you get the hang of it, it's like a fun new toy to play around with. 

Not that I'm anywhere close to the level I would consider like...good. You may recognise a couple of these poses from samdoesarts. - if you're willing to invest the time, his process videos are really insightful.

Yeah boi, been waiting to upload this one. I had to get a friend to rig this background in 3D first because who the hell can just draw a ferris wheel at a perspective like that? Anyway, we're nearing the end of the pilot but there's a bit more story to unpack before we get there.

Little Sister

Valeria might seem like the world’s biggest loner but there is at least one person in her life she drops the facade for. Meet Serene, Valeria’s scrappy younger sister, who is largely the reason why Valeria works so hard to scrape a living. These are initial concepts but I’m pretty happy with the design so far.

When Lee Met Freddy

Lee had a hard time making friends when she was younger. Her bad streak ended with little Winifred, who she rescued from a local bully (pictured right). They’ve been thick as thieves ever since.

Lee's Theme Song

I'm certain this isn't something only I do, but I always assign theme songs to basically every major character I write, based on lyrics, the tone of the songs, the title, etc. 

This one is Lee's and believe me, she has a few, but this is the one I consider the most fitting.

Tutorial time! You can see a lot of unexplored grievances here towards anime but I do like it, generally speaking. And yes, I'm aware that Valeria looks like an Eldritch nightmare halfway through the process, them's the breaks.

Angel Early Design

An initial look for Valeria which I sort of wish I'd explored further if I'm honest. I got too into the idea of a lightning bolt streak and I couldn't incorporate it into that hairstyle in a way I liked. Doubtless this appearance will be recycled for a new character down the line.

Roundhouse: The Villain

So these are some old designs for who I envisioned to be the supervillain character for Roundhouse, back before it became a real laid-back sort of a story and his presence became somewhat redundant. 

Which is not to say that he'll never appear, but until such a time as I can work on Roundhouse in a full-time setting, he's pretty much benched.

What I can give away is that his name is Oscar Uno, spoilt rich boy with some tech knowledge and a dad with a multimillion dollar robot...

A little context. A few years back I put this together for a graphic novel proposal. It outlines a scene from later in the Roundhouse story, where Lee and her recent new acquaintance are hanging out at a carnival. The idea was to give an impression of what Roundhouse would be like as a story with a single scene. Happy to answer any questions, and hope you enjoy!
