But in my photos I can dare a little more, at least with animals, obviously.

I can't leave this bed with Paulina, and I'm still working on the photos.

The technique is the same as yesterday, but the idea is you shouldn't be able to tell it is the cold light of a flash.
The secret is to bounce the flash from a white wall, to diffuse the light and simulate what could come from a window.
Whatever, what really counts is to place Dottir in the best possible light, given the situation, so we can enjoy the finest detail on the model's skin, and the special color of her eyes.

Given the total lack of natural light in the Milan apartment, we had to use exclusively artificial lightning, including a flash.
So I experimented the freezing effect of flash on movement, but with a slow shutter speed (1/125).
The starting position before this sequence of photos is visible today on my regular social media feed.

Now I remember why I hate to shoot in Winter!
In Milano it was a rainy day, I did go with the Caterham Seven because it is the only car I have that can enter B zone.
It was so dark in Milan from 8:00 to 11:00 whilst we were working, I didn't even bother to open the blinds on the windows, I just used the lights in the apartment, my two spotlights, and the flash.
Also Dottir was slightly more miserable, less tanned in her skin and cold.

Early wake up for me this morning, because I'm in Milano shooting with Dottir.

This was Mary, back in August 2023, looking out of the window on a wet city.
Also for today was forecasted rain, so I prepared both the Harley Davidson and the Seven with the top on, depending on the weather.

In 2017 I was reserving BW treatment only to some of the photos, and this did not qualify for it, not sure why...

During our first shooting in 2018, I left plenty of leash to Martina, and I realized she was an accomplished model!
During the next 20 shooting and 6 years working together, we learned a lot about each other, and our initial identities blended together.
We might have lost some of the initial spontaneity along the way, but we've gained a reciprocal confidence that was very helpful to get increasingly better pictures.

I have never enjoyed the colors coming straight from the Nikon D810, so I started messing around with toning light (yellow) and shadows (sepia) in Lightroom since 2018, with the second shooting of Martina.
As I can't find a natural color with this camera, I try to replicate the sensations I was proving in the moment with color grading.

This is probably the last chance anybody had to see this mansion still standing.
Surely, even if this portion of the building is still standing, it doesn't look the same any more.
I loved the precarious nature of the place when Ania and I visited, more for the aesthetic nature, rather than for the thrilling sensation of danger, because that danger was totally under control.

It's a long time I have not posted a photo of Cristiana.
Somehow, 3 of her shootings were stuck in the 2013 MacBook Pro, but I was not preoccupied for them because they were situated in a separate SD card, easily accessible even if the computer was not starting any more.
I never risked losing Cristiana, she was safe all the time, and today we can enjoy this photo from November 2021.

The light from a flashlight, especially with the cup that directs the output in one direction only, gives an interesting view of Elfa, and a great quality image, thanks to the 36MP of the Nikon D810.
When you search for the maximum detail, this old(er) equipment does not disappoint, and with the Profoto remote control on the camera, I really managed to master the off camera flash.

I think we should be safe, as there is no cable departing from the device, and no electricity in the whole facility, and still it is a legitimate question.

The shooting of Dottir is finished, and has been stored on my Archives in record time.
Maybe that is down to the new workflow, applied on this shooting for the first time, that consists in doing everything inside Lightroom, from the selection, to the editing of files, until the retouching (I was usually doing in Photoshop later on and on another computer).
