Bramley Apple

Long or very long?

Today I'm shooting with £lisandra in Consonno, but I'm not going to take this stunning Contax-Zeiss Planar T* 100mm f2 lens I used with Cristiana in Gallarate.
I will stick to the choice I made with Ania for Consonno: 50mm and 85mm.
I will keep the 50mm Summicron on the Leica M.
But I will swap the Contax-Zeiss Sonnar T* 85mm f2.8 on the Leica SL2-S with the Nikon 85mm f2 AI-s, that has a proper lens hood to avoid flare in the sun.

So why I use up to 200mm lenses in small apar...

Ray of light.

I wanted Slim to play on the edge of this light coming from the window, to get a good balance between lighter and darker areas.
The light was soft and diffused, so the contrast is not excessive, but it still looks good.
Of course the Contax-Zeiss Planar T* 100mm f2 lens is helping with the quality of the picture, as it was coming from a time when optical engineers were doing what they deemed appropriate in building a high quality lens, and not trying to please the whims of ignorant buye...

Light and dark.

Usually the light should hit the face of the model in a portrait, because our eyes are naturally attracted by the lighter areas in any given image.
But this picture demonstrates that rules are meant to be broken, and our eyes are more than happy to venture in the darkest areas of the image for Annalisa...

Day off.

I've asked for another couple of days off from work in July, one for Martina and one for a new model from Turin.
Even if next month is supposed to be a busy one, I'm happy to say they've been approved!

This time Martina and I are not going to be as lucky with the location as we were in this photo (our second shooting), but I don't need a special location when I have Martina in front of my camera.

Upsides.

I’m currently working on 2 shootings, the one with £lisandra, and the second one with Ania in Consonno.
I’m analysing the pictures to get the best insight for the future.
I want to study the body of £lisandra, check out her best angles, find her plusses and eventual minuses.
I also want to verify how Consonno is looking as an Urbex location and decide what other corners of this ghost town I want to explore next with my nude models.

Essential.

You can hardly talk about "location" if you are just using an empty wall, nevertheless it is not as common as you can imagine to have such a large neutral background at your disposal... mainly because in any house you would tend to use it in some way.
Any model can stand out in front of an empty wall, and Linda is no exception!

I did't manage to salvage the shooting I was talking about yesterday.
Martina's substitute model was too expensive, too shy, and not available for long eno...

Unlucky month.

To say June is less lucky than May has been is an understatement...
In May everyone of the 5 planned shootings did turn out all right, In June 3 of the 4 planned have been cancelled already.
Also the one with Martina is not going to happen, not within this month anyway.
At least she is trying to fix me up with another model instead so as not to waste the day off work I already asked for.
The girl she is proposing is an old acquaintance of ours, but I'm inquiring about her updated ...

The secret chemistry.

Funny how each model is inspiring different fantasies, that can change with time...
At the beginning I always wanted to tie up Cristiana in kinky ways, but later she changed, and I have not felt the need to tie her up in the last shootings we did together.
I guess it is not only up to my specific fantasies, it is as if the girls are suggesting in a subliminal way how to exploit them, based on what phase of their life they are living.

Ania under the sun.

I always liked this location, and it has been my unique subject many times, it is also the place where I held the practical test for a photography course I held many years ago.

Now that I'm finally taking there also my naked models, everything is starting to make sense, and I'm enjoying the place more than ever.

Gracefully handcuffed.

You can look graceful even with handcuffs on, Demi Fray is showing us how this item can still look fashionable.
So much so that you don't need to wear anything else!
I would organise a catwalk for handcuffs alone, some weared in front, and some in the back of the models.
I bet most models would look stunning dressed like this!

Difficult to get.

Some models are easy to work with, like Corine (in this picture).
I just have to take days off work when she is planning a trip to Milano...

Other models are difficult to work with, even if I'm trying hard every time I know she is coming to Italy!

Catwalk.

Martina is always posing for fashion if you let her free, even when she is nude.
Actually she tended to do so during our first shootings (this was number 3, late 2018), because she had not catch on my preferences for casual poses.

I wonder how her style of modelling has evolved in the past year we spent apart, I guess we're going to find out soon... in 9 days to be precise!

Unlucky?

No shooting this Saturday.
It is the second time this new model cancelled our appointment, the first time for a technical breakdown of the car, the second time for an injury in the gym.
I do believe this girl and I still like her very much, we are only unlucky!
I hope she is going to get better soon and we will finally work together.

I've worked so hard last month to catch up with my schedule, but also to compensate for this kind of unexpected problems, so I'm not worried too m...

Dazzled.

In this picture you can see how Sophy was dazzled by the sun on this terrace.
I was dazzled as well, not only by the sun that made focusing very difficult (mirrorless camera's EVF are not ideal in bright daylight light), but also by the color of the wall and by the beauty of this model.

Gracefully nude.

Nudity should be a natural state, and we should feel comfortable with our body, just like Annalisa.
Not sure why institutions and social media are so against normality, but fortunately we have some girls that still feel at ease with their bodies and don't mind showing it to us, in the name of artistic expression and freedom.

Fished out from the Archives.

Today we go way back in 2017 to find the beautiful Stefani on this white bed.

Notwithstanding the amount of pictures I'm publishing every day and everywhere, I still have at least 5 times as many hidden in my Archives that few people are ever going to see...
We are currently talking about 36,000 images already secured in Archives+ the 10 shootings I'm still working on, amazing numbers.

Tasting and testing.

I like to spend a long time working on getting the balance of my pictures just right, and consistent the entirety of a shooting.
In the first pictures I edit I put a lot of effort, but not always the result is fully satisfying.
Later on I might find a better solution to render a specific lightning condition of that particular sequence of pictures.
This one, for example, required some toning that is not a usual practice for me, and maybe I will change approach for the rest of the sequ...

Vulnerable?

During this shooting I perceived I was looking at a vulnerable creature, maybe it was a special period in Martina's life, or it was only a wrong impression from my sick imagination.
I'm happy to say after this shooting I've seen Martina again and again, and she was resurrected and vital like the phoenix she has tattooed on her belly.
Soon enough we will be shooting again together, after more than 1 year forced pause, I wonder how she is going to look in my eyes this time, and I can't wa...

Record breaking.

Getting back to all of the 5 shootings of May, I have plenty of material to work on!
It was a record braking month in the history of Bramley Apple and will probably remain unbeaten.
I'm sure you remember about £lisandra, from the 15th of May, don't you?

This clock was working well, which is not a given.
I have one in my kitchen, which has been in the family for ages, but I never look at it, because these days we have iWatches, iPhones, iMacs and they all tell you what time it is, they are also more precise, because constantly connected to the Web.

Few days ago, this venerable timepiece of mine stopped ticking, but I've not changed the battery yet, probably I will not care to do it, so I have one less hassle when we have to change to...

Hard or soft beauties.

Sometimes, though, we don't need to see the eyes (like yesterday with Giulia), but we like to see also a pretty body.
And Kiki has a beautiful and feminine body to start our June with a bang!

Spoiled by choice.

You have no idea how difficult it is to choose one picture from this new shooting with Ania in Consonno, not because we shot few pictures, but because we shot too many (982) and too good!
I also have to be careful not to spoil some surprises or special effects I want to keep for later…
So please be patient and let’s start with this picture on the roof of a building, backlighted from the blazing sun.

Make the most of what's available.

Not many situations available in this small apartment, mainly the table and the sofa.
At least we managed to exploit every opportunity to the max, and Stella used her talent to show her beautiful body in many poses.

What's important is the model, but a good location can improve life for both the model and the photographer, and having many variations in the surroundings helps in pretending to have made more than one shooting with that model...

Ania in Consonno.

What a day with Ania!
As I imagined, Consonno was a great location, and we just scratch the surface of its potentials, I guess I will have to go there also with £lisandra, possibly even with Annalisa, and maybe once more with Ania in July...

She was right about public nudity, and the few people that saw us didn't care, or were embarrassed enough to leave as soon as possible.
That's why I am reassured about using again this spectacular location.

My only concern was the light...

Always leave the door open.

I really loved some of my models, also among the ones that stopped posing nude prematurely, in the full bloom of their feminine beauty.
But I leave my door open to them, they might change idea once more...

In the mean time I try to work as many times as possible with the ones I like in this moment, because I have learned that the worst error is to take them for granted!

Shoes or no shoes?

This Saturday I will be shooting in a messy location like this one with Ania, and she asked not to wear shoes, because she is used to go barefooted in places with various kind of debris.
I still think it is dangerous and I will insist for her to wear shoes most of the time, but I must confess the pictures looks better if she is completely naked...
We'll see how it goes, but it is admirable how she is determined to run some risks if the final photos are going to benefit.
