Aurora (5) - Sketches

Didn't have a ton of time today, so only the center one gets any color.

An interesting note i guess, is that struggling with the ipad has made drawing on the cintiq easier, actually. I had to turn the stabilizer in CSP down from 10 to 5, because it felt really slow. All of these were done at 5, going over the simpler roughs from the ipad.

It's been like a week but i feel like i've been forced to have more accurate strokes because of it. Maybe if i keep doing it, it'll get easier.<...

Aurora (4) - Sketches

Had some family stuff i had to do today, so i doodled out some of these in the downtime.

So there's two things to note. First of all, sketching on the ipad is about as good as im going to get it, i think. I found that by hooking up a bluetooth keyboard, just the act of having my left hand on asdfSpacebar for my tools was really empowering, and i was working a lot faster, and much more deliberately with the pencil because i wasn't worried about making mistakes. One of the first sketches i did on the ipad. A bit straightforward, but it's cute <3

I realize that while i'm drawing characters that fit in with the setting of the comic, the images themselves don't really convey a ton about it. Pokemon with modern accessories fuck, in modern human environments!

But even if i'm not able to really convey a ton about setting in these pictures, it's fun practice to establish it in my head, for when i can~

I actually took multiple cracks at the vagina, what i had sketched out didn't translate super appealingly to color, so i messed with it a bit. Hopefully that parted fur looks okay!

Aurora, and her strange cape outfit that is probably way too warm for the tropical location the comic will take place in. Maybe she's just very cold!

Some more practice on the ipad, which i got a couple of days ago so i could sketch, not chained to my desk~

For those wondering how it is so far~ Personally, before things start to feel comfortable to draw in, you need to cover a lot of ground. Gotta get a matte film screen protector, gotta get the ergo plus grip for the penc...

Anolise - Wyvern Ref (anonymless)

Friend of mine has been working on a new character, and had me do up a ref for them.  I haven't really done ref sheets in the past, because itemizing and pricing them is weird compared to your typical rendered illustration. But, we did hourly stuff, and 6 hours later the deed was done :O
Fun character too! Something about gems that turn her from one scale creature into another scale creature. There'll probably be more? But for now there are three form-factors your Anolise comes in.
