Small update: I apologize for the inactivity during the last 2 weeks, I was away for the Annecy Film Festival and had hoped to be able to post during it, but I didn't take into account the possibility that we would have such crappy wifi that it barely can load text, let alone upload images :'I I tried sending an email with a 9 mb file and it took a full 20 minutes (I kept track).
Alas, during Annecy I caught a cold too (which seems logical after walking around the first 3 days being dr...

Have started listening to a bunch of tracks from Sophie, and it really tickled my creative juices for something simply fun. So I of course gotta draw the usual edgy dark doggo obviously.
The instrumentals from songs like "Ponyboy" and "Faceshopping" were probably the main source for getting the atmosphere of this piece, though I recommend "Pretending" and "Infatuation" in case you prefer calmer moods instead of chaotic electronic noise

For the same assignment as https://www.patreon.com/posts/betsy-walk-cycle-26359340 I always end up confusing the rotation and counter rotation of hips/shoulders even when double/triple checking >:T so the correct shoulder rotation is the green circle-thing. Btw the character is going to be from that animated movie Quest for Camelot? I think I watched it only that one time or so, so I only rememb...

Still feel like I have a long way to go when it comes to figuring out faces - like I'm able to do them decently by now, but I'm not actually doing thought-out decisions when planning them out? I gotta probably just do some actual studies already instead of just occasionally painting something random :'I

I've taken a bit more of a painterly approach with this one :0c it's been quite a while since I finished a personal piece so I'm looking forward to see where this one will go

Just get these urges from time to time to draw some dragons. I wanted to keep this quick and loose with 30 minutes spent, but didn't exactly end up where I wanted to

I finished up this previous thingie: https://www.patreon.com/posts/horse-run-cycle-25847751
The main difficulty was the perspective, but I still have some issues regarding portraying the weight of the creature. Though after many times of just plain skipping the head movement regarding horse-cycles, I'm happy to have finally gotten at least something that looks believable :'>

ayy guess who's gotten more comfortable with coloring animations? Though I'm still unsure how to get the best quality out of the gif format, I might need to post video-versions of animation once they're get longer. (Edit: ok it's just the preview version that looks so flickery, if you click on the gif for its full size, it looks better :0 )
It's been a while since I finished something animated that was just for myself, not practice related, or school related, so I'm just generally happ...

just something about this random photo I came across made me want to do a quick sketch off of it.
I didn't spend too much time on the "study", so I added some random doodles as well. I've not been drawing much for myself lately, so I try to compensate for that whenever I get the chance to.
Quick tip for observational drawing: Don't...

A second one's done! This started off a bit messy, I wasn't sure how, where, what and so on. (I probably should've spent more time planning things out, and you know... using proper perspective grids) -But I also want to improve my free-hand-drawing skills when it comes to perspective, yah gotta compromise.

From https://www.patreon.com/posts/angkor-thumbnail-26145172 's assignment, one of the 3 we had to finish in detail (though correction: 1 of the three won't need to be this far worked out - I had misread the assignment)
I have leveled up recently from the backgrounds I did for the animation project and I feel like I have a better grasp on how to render out shapes and forms with just using al...

Still need to add some finishing touches (basically just gradients to add more atmosphere) But I do admit that I rushed the latter half a bit, seeing as how much time I spent on the first couple and knowing how much more I need to do. (hhaaahhh I'll have to animate water in 5 different shots, wth am I doing to myself)
I might revisit them once I've advanced some more on the animation stuff, but I think I lost some steam after realizing that I couldn't replicate the same quality as the ...

Assignment for School, this time we were asked to design 2 characters (I had the time to add a potential third one)
I've until now generally leaned more towards humanoid animal / creature designs, since I'm more familiar with those. And while I do want to continue doing what I enjoy doing, I'll occasionally worry that I might become too comfortable with it. I still have much to learn with human characters after all, so I can't forever rely on my experience with animals.
I also f...

For an animation assignment, done in TV Paint ,15 individual frames- not every frame is "animated on two's" (aka dublicated) 4 separate frames are on "one's", since I initially didn't get the rhythm 100% right.
Before you wonder, the low placement of the knees is according to the modelsheet I worked off of, the character is "Aunt Betsy" from an animated David Copperfield movie.
Planning through the rotation of the hips might've been a bit unecessary considering it won't be very visi...

A background assignment for school, that I'm working on! We were asked to first do minimum 8 thumbnail sketches looking for different compositions/views all around the Angkor archaelogical site. We were also asked to think of a rough narrative including characters. Of these 8 we will need to pick 3 that are gonne be done in detail. I'm still not entirely finished though.

Done without reference, just exploring the human form
drawn with red mechanical pencil, though I adjusted the saturation/sharpness digitally. I never understood why people opt to sketch with colored leads even if they don't intend to do lineart on top of it, but then I tried them out and I realized "....oh yeah, they smudge less than normal lead" So now if I'm not using pens, I sketch nearly exclusively with colored pencils :'I

The blue pencil drawings were studies done in 6 minute sessions with a live model. After a short walk-through of arm musculature and forearm bones we were asked to trace the muscles ontop of some of the studies.
The most important thing I took away was the little thing I wrote down at the bottom - the outside of the arm is flatter compared to the inside - This little detail is so effective and universally applicable to any art style that is even slightly more realistic than the "rubbe...
