Quick Fics Delay & adjusted Release Date

So October didn't go as planned. I'm really sorry about the delays and for those who were looking forward to Quick Fics. I just needed a little more time to cook ^^;

To cut a long story short, I pushed myself too hard and I got really sick and had to take a week off to rest (and spend time with family) The stress really got to me. I guess I set my deadlines expecting that everyday would be a 100% day, which was impossibly optimistic.

This may sound weird, but I don't mind that I got sick. The way I see it, I needed some sort of shock to my system. Just anything to force change because oh my god my unproductive/lazy days has gotten out of control lately. I guess I went overboard but at least I know my limits.

I still wanna keep posting public deadlines because it really does work - I am becoming more productive and I'm getting a little less distracted. It's not magic that works 100% all the time and it really sucks whenever I miss my deadlines. Even so, I wanna keep doing it because I know that it's a process and I just need to keep practicing and fine-tuning. I know that if I just stick to it, I'll get better at meeting my deadlines and meet my own goals.

So that's that. Again, apologies for the delays but the show must go on!

Here's a quick preview of Quick Fics so far. The release date is on the 14th (next week Tuesday)

The deadline seems tight once again, but I've worked on this enough. I don't wanna give myself more time than necessary because I could end up overthinking and redoing stuff.

I'm quite happy with the script, I definitely got my quick fix from this ^^ All that's left to do is finish all the art!

Here's a quick update on October schedule calendar!

I was a day late for the June Rewards but I think we're still on track.

I gotta be honest though, I feel like I'm in a mad crunch right now. It's largely a good thing because it gets results done. Knowing that I have deadlines just around the corner forces me to prioritize and I definitely feel like I'm able to focus more easily. It can be a bit stressful but being productive nearly everyday feels waaaay better than accomplishing nothing everyday.

An update on Quick Fics: Loki Edition. Just got the word count to about 3K words (previously it was a loose collection of ideas) It's short, but it does focus mostly on the "good stuff". I'm gonna start the actual art and putting it all in Ren'py tomorrow and in the next 2 weeks. The deadline is tight but honestly, this reminds me of my Nanoreno gamejam days, which was a mix of stress, fun and hype. Excited to show it to you guys, Loki is just damn hot ^^

General Update

I'm sorry for the long absence. I got super side-tracked and distracted from September up until a few days ago, but I'm back now. I thought I'd make a calendar of events to catch everyone up and so that everyone knows what to expect and when.

So in case the image isn't showing up or isn't clear, the important dates are:

• October 13 -  June Rewards will be sent out (Asuna and Marianne)

October is packed but I think I can make it. I've worked quite a bit on Quick Fics and I actually got to a point where I rewrote the scenario a 2nd time (1st is solo Loki, 2nd I somehow managed to get FEH!Anna involved lol) But I'm sticking to the 1st scenario since I wanna avoid scope creep and I just want to stick to the namesake :D

I was kind of rusty so I thought of drawing a couple bonus stuff to de-rust before drawing June rewards. I attached partial timelapse files as an added bonus. Not a lot of people know Nerthuz and Ceefore but I quite like these characters!

I also realized while drawing Nerthuz that she actually reminds me of my character for an unannounced & abandoned ero project called Happy Home. Here's what my character looks like and her daughter.

It's an abandoned story but in quick summary, it's a short story centered around the theme "Grief" where the MC learns to cope with the loss of his family. The main feature/fetish(?) is Oyakodon (MC pursuing both mother and her daughter) The husband passed away so there's no cheating involved. I think I made this project in 2020 but I dropped it shortly after, don't really remember the reason lol. Anyway, so Nerthuz reminds me of Leah (the mom) and that's why I'm so easily drawn to her ^^

Disgaea 7 released recently and I've been enjoying the game so far. I skipped 6 but 7 seems to be Disgaea 5 but better, at least gameplay wise! I enjoy the new stuff like the evil-gacha, I think it's a clever mechanic. As am aside, I love Disgaea 4 the most, pretty much cause of Valvatorez x Artina, I just love that pairing. Anyway, Ceefore's doesn't remind me of anyone, I just like her design :D

I don't usually set hard deadlines for myself but I keep on getting distracted. Something needs to change. Having public deadlines should keep me more accountable and I really need to clean up my act since I still have so many stuff I wanna do.

Talk is cheap though. Let's see how I do very soon ^^ Anyway, that's all I got for now, cheers!

Meditation with Rhea pt.2

So I thought I'd continue the meditation with Rhea piece the other day because the scenario wouldn't leave my mind :P

Didn't manage to color the last 2 pages (the final page is only roughly sketched) but I think this short comic gets the point across ^^

I will likely finish this set but I want to work on Quick Fics tomorrow because I want to get the 1st entry (Loki x Summoner) released soon.

Anyway, I will likely include the finished version of this short comic in Emerald Dawn as an extra. But that's all for now, I need to go to sleep, I'm not supposed to do anything on Sundays (but it's Rhea so...)

2. Patreon pause for August

I'm pausing Patreon for August. This means you will NOT be charged on September 1st, and this also means the content cycle for August is paused (ie no polls and no rewards.)

The reason is simple: I want to make more time for my other projects (and because I don't want to have 3 months worth of backlog)

3. 「Quick Fics」Collection begins!

Quick Fics is a free collection of fanfics/short stories (<10K words) about sexy scenarios of pairings I like. The goal of this project is simply to get these stories out of my system so they don't keep taking space in my head, and as practice for my eventual original eroge project.

Note that ALL my projects will NEVER have NTR (all flavors: netorare, netori, netorase.) Please look elsewhere if you want those type of content.

Pairings are: MxF, MxFxF (Threesome) and will mostly focus on sexual content.

The first story in the collection is Summoner x Loki (both from FE Heroes) But here are some pairings that I'm interested in producing in the future:

• Yuri x Judith (both from Tales of Vesperia)

Here's a WIP screenshot. I'll make a custom UI later but that's the thing about this project, I want to simply focus on the content.

Lately I've been enjoying painting backgrounds so this project and Emerald Dawn are perfect for that. Speaking of Emerald Dawn:

4. Small Emerald Dawn update!

To be honest, I haven't made a lot of progress with Emerald Dawn apart from writing because I overwhelmed myself.

First, I really wanted to port Emerald Dawn to Godot, but I've been demotivated to do that because I'm just "re-inventing the wheel" and I wasn't doing a good job.

Second, animating is very frustrating. Simple animations are not that big of a deal, but whenever I try complex scenes with lots of layering it just makes me want to rip my hair out.

Third, I have an "ideal" vision for Emerald Dawn: it should be made in my custom VN engine in Godot, it should have captivating animations, and it should have a beautiful UI/UX.

So basically, I've been spinning my wheels obsessing over things that are not the actual content. Animations are debatable, but I'd rather have a finished story than clunky animations.

So what now? I'm dropping my custom engine and stick to Ren'py. For animations, I'll only add them AFTER I finish writing/drawing the actual story. I want to focus on the actual, real content.

So that's what I've been doing lately and I can't express just how much that actually reduced my stress. It's good to be ambitious, but sometimes, sticking to familiar and comfortable is the way to go. 

I've been adding CGs and redrawing some while writing the new story update. Here's one for the massage scene. It's a simple one, but an absolutely necessary one :D

I won't post CGs of the new story content for obvious reasons, but I may post more new CGs/CG redraws for the base story ^^

I'm finally out of my creative rut. I know I've said that a few times before but this time it feels like it will actually last. Pretty excited to work more on Emerald Dawn and Quick Fics ^^

Sorry it took me a while, I've been all over the place recently. No excuses, I was trying to do too many things at once and now RL stuff keeps getting in the way of work.

I have had no power and internet for 6 days and counting due to a recent typhoon. Still have no power but I managed to setup a generator for the meantime, hurray! That was a painful experience for a dumb layman haha!

Anyway, I didn't want to just complain! The good thing about having no power and internet was that I had no access to distractions (youtube mostly) and that allowed me to just write like a maniac. I'm happy to report that I managed to write most of Emerald Dawn's next update! ^^

Real talk, I seriously would have gone insane if I didn't have Rhea to think about this past week. Once again, Rhea saved me from total despair just by her existing. I seriously want to get back to working and finishing Emerald Dawn soon. Man, I love Rhea so much ^^

I finally got around drawing how I imagine their Heroes Journey ends every night! ^^

I love the Heroes Journey because it fuels my imagination. That alone makes it the best game mode for me. I mean just check out these cute screenshots, I can eat this stuff all day 🥰🥰

Loki (FEH)

Drew Loki from FE Heroes cause I was in the mood for hot, bad girls. I feel like she's underused in FEH, but that's probably my bias speaking lol It's her summer outfit but I couldn't be bothered to draw the rest of her outfit, gomenasai!

But man, finishing 2022 rewards is such a load off my shoulders. I felt guilty for not finishing it sooner but I kept getting distracted with other stuff and the guilt kept building up. I'm not complaining by the way, I'm just stating facts and I'm well aware that I reap what I sow. I guess I just wanted to put it out there.

Anyway, we're already halfway through 2023 and I'm so behind on a lot of my internal plans. But! There's half of the year left and I believe that's plenty of time to accomplish my goals, or at least some of them!

Here's a quick, short list of my personal goals this year:

1. Emerald Dawn Godot port, including a gallery and a few animations

2. Emerald Dawn: Dance of Life (working title)

3. A short(3-4hrs) Ero Kinetic VN

If I can manage to do #1 this year, I'm good. I don't want to end 2023 without releasing a personal project, even if it's just polishing Emerald Dawn. To be fair though, I'm making my own VN engine in Godot so that really complicates things. The reason I'm "reinventing the wheel" is I'm starting to fight Ren'py when it comes to presentation, UI, and animations.

Making my own VN Engine presents a lot of problems though, would you believe that? For instance, I didn't realize how complex it is to make a save system for a VN engine. I want my system to be modular but I'm having a hard time developing a game loop and structure to do enable that. I feel like the solution is out of reach for my level of programming.

I'm rambling.

Anyway, for now, I just want to draw. I'll probably go through my barracks in FEH and draw the characters I find hot. Of course I'll draw more Rhea and Wiz, but I feel like I need to give my 200% whenever I draw them. Right now I just wanna draw without too much pressure.

Holy shit, this set took so much longer than I wanted.

I got way too ambitious and tried to animate an entire sequence for Sorceress (the laying/spooning version) I gave up cause it's way out of my league right now 😅😅 So I scrapped that and made the simple doggy version because its easier to animate. For reference I did the doggy in 1 day (drawing + animation) but obviously I already learned a few tricks by this point. It could be better but I just wanna move on cause the spooning version took me a good 2 weeks and ended up with terrible results lol

I'm not quite that good at animating yet, but man I'm starting to envision how I want to animate the Rhea Emerald Dawn stuff. Some of them are very complex because some of them involve dancing, which is like the hardest shit to animate, but goddamit I'm gonna do it if it's the last thing I do 😁

Anyway, I'm still behind Patreon rewards but hopefully things will pick up from now(?) now that I'm out of animation hell arc haha. I'll try to be more active and reduce the gaps between posts and draws!

Here's a bonus Goldmary. I started with this one then I worked on Sorceress, but when I went back to this I didn't feel like finishing it so I scrapped it and drew a different one. Bonus bonus: I attached the timelapse!

I always wanted to try drawing this surrounded meme but there was a lack of official Rhea alts. But with the addition of Archbishop Rhea, there are now 5 official Rhea alts and I couldn't be happier. What happens next, I wonder? :D

I wanted to finish this Rhea piece in time for the Poll winner announcement but it ended up taking way more time, for obvious reasons.

In other news, I've been chipping away at the Godot version of Emerald Dawn and I want to show some progress soon! Excited to show it off but let me finish the December rewards first! (I guess Emerald Dawn is my reward for finishing Patreon rewards?)

Emerald Dawn Port to Godot 4

I'll make a dedicated post for this with screenshots/video progress, but in short, I am porting Emerald Dawn from Ren'py to Godot 4. The Ren'py version will always be available, but all future versions of Emerald Dawn will be built on the new engine.

The reason is simple: I want to integrate Spine animations directly into the game! ^^ Again, I'll have a dedicated post for this with all the details but I figured I'd add it here for convenience.

I don't want to be accused of using AI. I have no desire nor plans to use AI art in my Art.

So I will start adding short video timelapses (partial or complete) as proof of work. Note that $10 rewards also include the CLIP and PSD files so you can inspect the files yourself (except for Wiz drawings because I don't want someone to make nudes/lewds edits of her ><)

No, I don't think most people would think I use AI. But I am paranoid and I'm doing this for my own peace of mind.
