Some color wips

I have some finished pieces to post but I made some good progress on the colors for Mika's Pizzeria and the Diane and Mr. Wolf pic so I'm posting them first. I've got a bit of a queue to catch up on but I think I'll be on top of it soon.

Computer trouble

So I was having some issues with my computer for a while and I'm told it was because my solid state drive needed to be upgraded from an MBR partition to a GPT partition and some other such Star Trek sounding things I won't bore you all with, but point is the procedure did not go smoothly and I ended up having to pull an all-nighter and all day-er with lots of coaching from my more tech-literate friends to see if I could save my computer without having to reinstall Windows, which would have been very bad since it would have meant having to reinstall all my productivity / art apps, not to mention all the other programs and games I have on my computer.

The good news is that I did not have to reinstall Windows. The bad news is that I'm feeling quite drained and I missed out on a lot of time that should have been put into drawing, but I'll be back on track shortly. Just wanted to fill you guys in on the situation!

Lancer 2024 Christmas Pinup

Christmas pinup featuring Mika Fadeneir! This was a fun pic to work on and I tried some different techniques. I haven't done soft painterly looking shading in a while and I really like how this one turned out.

Western Lancer

It's Lancer, with a wild west spin. Oddly enough, many decades before Lancer: the Knights of Fenris there actually was western genre comic book called Lancer. Funny how things come full circle!

November update

I had a lot of additional hours for my other job this month which unfortunately cut into my art productivity a bit. I've still been drawing and coloring but I'm not as caught up as I wanted to be, which means I'll once again be combining months for November and December. I apologize for not recognizing the issue sooner and that I'm not going to have the polls ready before the end of the month, but the Gold tier patrons are currently submitting their sketch suggestions and color nominations so next week I will have the polls up. In the meantime I still have some finished pieces I can post for November, and I have several WIPs on the color pics that I can post before the month is out.

I appreciate everyone's patience, and I'll try to be back to the normal schedule for the new year!

As stated in the previous poll, I'm doubling up November and December due to time constraints, which I'll explain in the all-patrons post.

Riding into the sunset

Another Aegis sketch I drew for fun. I was watching a documentary about the short-lived DeLorean Motor Company and felt the urge to draw something involving the legendary car, with dreams of summer and the echoes of retrowave music tingling in my ears.

Nurse Amber

A pinup doodle I did recently of Amber Kettunen. Amber was originally one of my characters from Skyrim but I'm recasting her as one of the ship nurses in Lancer. She'll be making her comic debut later in the current chapter!

Kitty Kat doodles

So The Bad Guys 2 trailer came out this week and much talk has been had about the new (presumed?) antagonist Kitty Kat. Some people think she's a snow leopard, I think she's probably a cougar or maybe a black leopard or jaguar, but in any case I felt like doing a really quick doodle of her. Maybe I'll make that bottom left one into a full sketch when I have time. :3c

Sorry for the absence of updates, I've been working on art although I've been been perhaps spreading my attention a bit too thin across multiple projects instead of getting them finished one at a time. I'm going to focus in more on finishing the pieces that I've already gotten work done on so I can get you guys the finished pieces more regularly.

Adressing an unfortunate problem

I was going through the results of the latest color archive poll because something was a bit unusual and unfortunately, even though I took steps a few months ago to deter manipulation of my polls here on Patreon, the probably has once again reared its ugly head. I tried my best to be fair by grandfathering in drawings of patron OCs into the color archive that I had already done, but I found out on my creator back end that some people were voting with multiple alternate accounts. I don't think I should have to explain why this is against the rules.

I have discussed with some of my artist friends about how I should handle this situation. As most of you are aware, I took a break from commissions for a pretty good while to focus on my comic and patreon, and the consistent thing I have heard from my artist friends is that allowing patron OCs in myrewards creates too much incentive to abuse the system to get a discounted OC commission out of the artist and have the rest of the patrons pay for it, which is why I stopped taking the sketch suggestions in the first place. Since the problem of poll manipulation has not stopped, I had to take action about this because letting happen would not be fair to my patrons, and this kind of thing is demoralizing and demotivating for me as the artist.

It's clear to me now that the only actual solution is to remove the motivation for people to put their thumb on the scale. Effective immediately, I've done another purge on the color archive to remove all sketches featuring patron OCs, and I've also deleted the October color archive poll because I do not want anyone pointing fingers at each other over why this change had to be made. That also puts me in the odd spot of what to do about this month's poll since it was not clean. I think the most fair thing I can do is color the runner up, which is the sketch of Iris from Twokinds. I might lose a few patrons next month because of this change but for me it's not the money that matters, it's about the principle of the thing. I am not going to call out anyone, I'm just going to put this matter behind me and move forward.

Again, I would like to extend my apologies to my patrons for the disruption and I hope that the changes I've made will make things more fair for everyone.

A lil update

So, I got sick recently and was out of commission for the last few days, which is why I didn't get the polls up and running when I originally expected, and why I didn't get much drawing done. Fortunately I do have some stuff to post and I am feeling a bit back on my feet now, and I will have the polls posted today. I also did a little bit of sketching on my own just to get my creative synapses firing up again, so I should be back to streaming on Picarto as usual. Sorry I didn't make a post about it sooner!

Quick update about September and October

Since I'm still catching up on things I'm going to be combining October and September's polls. I don't do this very often and I'm sorry about not getting a post out about this sooner, but rest assured I am still here and working on the art that's owed. Since October is "inktober" month I might be fulfilling some pics using traditional pencil and/or ink on paper, which I'm hoping you guys will find novel and interesting. I'm going to have the sketch suggestion and color archive posts up today for gold supporters, although I might have to post the poll itself for october. In the meantime I'll try and get some new content posted for everyone else to enjoy and I'll try to post some kind of poll for the Silver and below members so you guys at least get something to vote on for September, because I want to make sure you guys are getting treated fairly. You all have helped me out so much, I owe it to ya!

And one a side note, if you want to submit Halloween suggestions, this upcoming sketch suggestion post will be the place to do it. I'll try my best to get at least some of them done in time for spoopy night.
