2025-08-19 02:33:38 +0000 UTC View PostI saw Chin amongst those corpses. I saw Medin, the girls, Nai, Cai.
I saw the people I cared for and what would happen if I failed them. I looked up at the World-Kings and wondered what they felt. What did they see?
I didn’t expect them to notice me or say anything and for a while they didn’t.
For a while the ship just floated in an empty patch of chaos, breathing after the battle.
Then the corpses were gathered.
Wang Hou lo...
The Carrion Men were a group of cultivators that lived near the Sea of Death.
It was said that long ago, the body of God-Imperium came near them and one of them in their dying hunger, ate it.
No one should have been able to digest it or much less feed off of it. But this body had been so thoroughly destroyed that even lesser beings could harm it.
And this they became known as the Dead and Dying.
“What are the Carrion Men?” Wang Hou asked. 2025-08-18 02:41:07 +0000 UTC View Post
The world held still, time refused to pass and in that instant.
We had stopped moving, but it felt like the world had suddenly decided to hold perfectly still.
“Senior?” Wang Hou asked.
Why was he coming to me for assurance? I wasn’t his older brother. Then the ship spoke, or rather communicated to us its intention.
We were stopping for the harvest. It was on the ship’s path log and we would be perfectly safe.
I watched from the hu...
2025-08-18 02:40:16 +0000 UTC View PostThe world was funny sometimes. Sometimes you could stare at the mountain or a forest and be lost in its beauty, and then, that same forest could consume you whole and teach you a new terror. You could fall off that mountain and meet a tumbling end.
I was now in the forest, cursing myself for thinking it looked great at this very moment.
Eldritch entities were the worst thing to have ever been.
Well, maybe not the worst, but close enough.
I didn...

I looked up at the stars as I remembered what Drean was doing.
I was here, in the village, helping Medin knead some dough.
She was practicing her cooking and cultivating at the same time. Rin had let it slip that she could do both and so, here she was, desperately trying to refine her dao of cooking. And she was succeeding.
The doug...
2025-08-18 02:38:09 +0000 UTC View PostWang Hou and I boarded the ship, each paying for our own fair.
It felt like I was entering a realm, something separate but all its own. And that wouldn’t be a misinterpretation of that either. The ship was layered, in both space and time. Technically, I could walk all over the ship, but what I observed was just one side of the ship. There was more dimensionality to this place than just what I observed.
It worked like my forest in a way.
I was here, segreg...
2025-08-08 00:14:29 +0000 UTC View PostSorry for only posting two chapters this week. Right when I was about to focus on this fiction, I got the flu. I haven't really written much for the past 4 days or so. But next week, I'll be sure to drop six chapters to make up for it.
Sorry for the delays.
There stood about four creatures for the interview. One of them was an automaton, skin steel grey and bulging metal eyes. Its face was there, somewhat human. You could see its eyes and ears and mouth, all present as various metal bumps and dives.
They meant nothing, though I suppose that familiarity would seem nice to a mortal.
“Hello,” it said, speaking with aura and qi, a language all cultivators understood.
“Where would you be going?”
“Th...
2025-07-28 16:35:03 +0000 UTC View PostThe ship was alive.
Well, alive was a word but not an accurate description.
The ship was an automaton, a sort of living being not capable of cultivation. It wasn’t alive in the sense that a human or a beast was. They had no true soul.
Rather they swapped out their parts over the eons, changing the parts of them they had outgrown and inputting an entirely new part all together.
They were a mimicry of life. They lived like we did, acted like we ...
2025-07-28 16:33:09 +0000 UTC View PostShips were not ships.
Not in the traditional sense. Ships were things that could voyage the void, things strong enough to move the masses through existence and keep everyone safe while doing so.
We passed by things the size of continents, most already having one form of life or another. And since seeing that dragon, Wang and I had decided to lean more towards the less troublesome part of the beast.
But again, size was the wrong description. They were the size of contin...

It was, in its truest form, connected to the Greek Pantheon and was at the base of Mount Olympus. It was also connected to the River Styx which went all the way down to the Sea of Death.
It was also within the Elemental Domain of Water, a place that functioned similarly to the Sea of Death and The Cosmic Forest, a place full of water and water Celestials, and something that could be navigated all on its own.
But I wouldn’t be goin...

He was a large portly man, not just fat but big. Muscle was underneath the fat and his physical form carried weight and mass.

His qi hummed with compacted power. His cultivation technique revolved around eating and storing the energies he consumed. He naturally had large qi reserves and his technique focused on making them...

I've had a few people bring it up, so I thought I just clarify for the whole patreon.
A bit of a map for the upcoming arc. I made it in Paint but it took me like four hours to figure that thing out. Its crap, but it hopefully conveys the ideas well enough.

The void was just as I left it, empty.
I walked around carefully, making sure to check the area before fully manifesting. That wasn’t something that Bill did a lot but there was a hypervigilant side to him, the side that was ready for a fight at any moment, and that had been split between the both of us.
I looked around, seeing the qi stream in the distance and seeing Lynoria shine brightly from afar. It was one out of the infinite stars, but it was...

“Why do I have to be Drean?” He complained.
“Well, because I’m Bill.”
“Says you,” I replied.
He looked at me, then laughed. The splitting technique was successful and the part of me that had been split was different and yet the same.
A lot of my wonder had gone to him, along with my desire to see the world and explore. That's what I needed after all, a split of me to go and gather mater...

The trip back was…quiet. I saw the ship from Ah-Marin, the one with all the sects on it and I saw the hive marching past Ah-Marin and into the great void.
The hive queen nodded at me again, and I nodded back.
Bugs, who knew how they worked.
I hid my presence, making sure no one saw me slid into the little marble world of Ah-Marin.
Immediately, I became one. Bill had been talking to Medin about recipes and suddenly, the mind o...

“A splitting technique? Of what sort? What type? How potent? What for?” A man interrupted.
“Has any gender changed now?” A small halfling asked.
“Species?” A dwarf added.
“Law adjustments? Distance of separation? Would you like one more combat focused or task focused? What’s your goal with this technique? What’s your desire?” A gruff sounding human added.

One of the key rules of Lynoria was no violence. It was the biggest appeal to a lot of the people who traveled and traded here. But it wasn’t an absolute rule, you could request a duel or a spar.
I walked through the center of Lynoria, the gathering grounds of existence. The place reeked of both demons and angels, righteous cultivators and those that walked the demonic path. This was all within a realm, all within physical space.

It had been two centuries since I had been in Lynoria, and seemingly, nothing had changed.
It was a celestial realm, which meant that it was infinite in almost every way. There were infinite realms, infinite places, and infinite stuff.
But that was all meaningless. What mattered was the main realms and the amount of beings within Lynoria as a whole. There were a lot here, some unimaginable number, but of those, a good number weren’t immortals, but r...

The qi streams carried me throughout the void, shortening the distance I’d have to traverse without it.
A good voidwalker technique did two things, one was protecting you from the void and the other was helping you traverse it. The qi stream did one of those. It naturally pulled in ambient qi and created a flow path that could be used to interconnect different realms.
You normally saw people below the fourteenth or fifteenth rank using these streams, some...

A couple of days later, I was ready. I had everything worked out with the reflection technique. It still wasn’t a true splitting technique, but it was the difference between a war axe and a large lumberjack’s axe, one was better depending on the job but both could still cut properly.
I gave one last look to my other self and waved awkwardly. It felt like putting your hands on two sock puppets and pretending they were different people.
