It's a little embarrassing how many iterations the sketch went through on this one. For every sketch I'm happy with on the first try, there's equally as many that require several passes to get right. Never be afraid to start over, you'll almost always draw it better the second time (or in my case here, the... fourth or fifth time... sigh...)

Commission! Tried out a different brush for lineart and I couldn't be happier with the results, exactly the amount of scratch and grunge I was looking for. Embarrassingly it's one of the default Procreate ones I've had access to all along: "shale brush," which is found under the calligraphy category.

Wow I'm making a comic!!!
This is something I've wanted to do since I was a kid and my goal for this year was to start a comic project, so I'm doing a small one to start out in hopes of learning a bit about the process and figuring out the style I want to use for bigger projects down the road. Very possibly some stuff will change style-wise over the course of this comic and we're all just gonna have to be okay with that

If seeing me color this by hand is frustrating to watch, know that it's even more tedious to do in agonizing real-time :P
Procreate does have primitive bucket fill capabilities, but they don't even try to work properly if you're using a textured brush for your lineart. At the end of the day, it's $12 software, so I can't complain too much; it's still pretty beefy for the pricetag and sure as hell beats paying a subscription for Photoshop or CSP.
