I was NOT prepared for how intense Inashiro's coach is, or how much of an arrogant gremlin Mei is! I loved Sakurazawa, but those young men were not prepared for the "Destroyer of Hopes and Dreams," Inashiro ace, Mei! Holy smokes, they are going to be an INTENSE opponent, aren't they?
So many amazing one-liners, new pitches, SHIPS BEING FORMED?! In this sports anime!? But seriously, Mei and Miyuki have history...and I am more than curious!

Welp, here we are -- y'all warned me this show was going to make me reach for the tissues, and I took your words for granted...until this episode.
This simple, sweet story of a grieving father, coupled with Violet realizing the feelings she has for Gilbert, COUPLED again with KyoAni's gorgeous animation, the music, and then THAT END SCENE...I'm not sure I'm ready for the emotions from here on in...but I still want to talk about this episode with you all!

I've wanted backstory on Yao since season 2, and we're FINALLY getting it...and OH, do we get it! Not only do we get so much insight into Yao and his complex character, but I need to breathe for a moment, because PAPERMAN WUXIAN! We round out the last of the OVA's for Season One...and this one...this one is my favorite!
ALL the comparisons between Levi and Eren, getting into the mindset and ideals of Erwin, seeing how Levi and Erwin have BOTH grown and changed from this time in the past to the present...this OVA had everything: heart, humor, pain, the SYMBOLISM and PARALLELS; the whole nine yards!

This series has a bizarre, dark sense of humor -- and I'm ALL HERE FOR IT! An OVA that deals mainly with Jean, one of my favorite characters in the show? Yes, please! Even when he was still bratty, this was really enjoyable...despite its madness towards the end!
And then you shift gears with "Distress," and even though I know these characters are going to live (for now), the OVA manages to get you invested and creates tension with these characters...as only Attack on Titan can!

This is possibly one of the best single volumes of manga I've read -- in terms of a complete side character's backstory, struggles, relations to others -- and a message that resounds and connects to not only the other characters in the series, but to anyone reading as well.
Inoue's artwork? Top notch. Inoue's writing and use of symbolism? Sublime.

This episode was a such a BEAUTIFUL self-contained story! I REALLY love Leon's character and how he slowly opens up towards Violet. And Violet's reveal of just how deep her love of Gilbert is -- I appreciate we're talking not just about sexual/romantic love in this episode, but also the power of parental love as well. There are LAYERS to love, darn it!

It's always a good sign for a sports anime, to me, when you feel either side can win and you'll be satisfied. I've REALLY come to like Sanada, the Todorki father-son duo, and Yakushi throughout this matchup, and from the battle of the Aces to the pressure finally catching up with our sunshine boys, these episodes were the perfect conclusion to their rivalry!
I have full faith that the world is going to eventually know not only Raichi's name, but our boy Sawamura's as well.

I...really love this episode. My fangirling heart knew from the trailers that there would be flirty moments between WuXian and Wangji, but y'all...
After two seasons of the casual subtext and them avoiding back and forth, to see Wangji so openly expressing his affection and WuXian so casually and openly flirting? You love to see it! My heart wants more, but isn't sure if it can handle it!
