I feel reading the novel up until this point has refreshed my love for these cultivating detectives, and this show is NOT holding back! Not in terms of the mystery, the supernatural action, or the WangXian!

8 is my lucky number, and Volume 8 of Slam Dunk (Inoue's other work) is my favorite volume, so I had high hopes for this volume of Real...and it did NOT disappoint!
From the interactions of Natsumi and Nomiya, to Nomiya realizing a potential dream, to the resolution with Togawa and the Tigers (SO SATISFYING), this volume had a lot of heart to it...

Holy cow -- this game with Akikawa (I finally pronounce it right) has been SO GOOD so far!
Mad respect to Furuya, to Miyuki, to Shunshin, and to our boy Sawamura this set of episodes! The teamwork and strategy throughout --sprinkled in with some Akikawa "miracle" luck -- has been so well done! I just want our boys to win and make it to the quarterfinal so Tanba gets a chance back on the mound, but it's not going to be an easy order to fill!
KyoAni continues to impress with the animation, and Violet continues to be an impressive force at Hodgin's business -- the other "dolls" try to break Violet in, which turns out to be as difficult as one would imagine!
I am really loving this cast of characters so far, though! From Benedict, to Erica, to Cattleya; everyone is so expressive and uniquely invested in Violet so far...and we bookend the episode with teases about Gilbert...UGH. SHOW. You can't do this to me!

I was SO sad that the audio got messed up in the first and last parts of this -- I think it was with the BlueTooth headphones and my new computer. NOTES TAKEN for the future, so I apologize for that.

I hated that Crunchyroll was slow watching this episode, but you know what I LOVED? THIS EPISODE! There's no Hisanobu this volume, but we have a new character in the series! His name is Ryo and he is a PRECIOUS CINNAMON ROLL and MUST be protected! I love him already!
Togawa faces a crucial choice and a LOT is suddenly on the line with the Tigers and their first prelim game...against the national champions, The Dreams, no less! There's a lot of tension in this volume, but a lot of heart and humor, too!

The national qualifiers are underway! Coach Chiba and the coach for Aikawa are hilarious, as are these games so far! This has been one of the funnier set of episodes in the series at this point -- but that may change, as a very serious, very proud pitcher is entering the competition!
And with a lot riding on the line for our Seidou boys, it's looking to be an interesting matchup! I'm pretty excited to see how it's going to go down!
