In this second viewing of Slam Dunk's anime adaptation, we get the introduction of our "problem child" Miyagi, and the full backstory on one of my favorite characters, Mitsui. Volumes 7 and 8 are two of my favorite in the series, and it was so neat getting to see it adapted into the anime!
And the Interhigh tournament has started! The matches are slowly building to the big three contenders of this anime: Shoyo, Kainen, and Ryonen...and I'm so ready!

There was SO MUCH TENSION between Hiyori and the Iwatobi Alumni this episode! I love that Mako stood up for Haru and his friends...but MAN, Hiyori my dude...you just aren't letting up, are you? And that last comment by him was SAVAGE, sir!
The music was amazing this episode, as was the Free! angst, the pacing -- basically, this episode as a whole was probably my favorite so far this season!...

WELL -- this episode brings up a lot of questions and gives some interesting intrigue into the plot! I LOVE the tie-in to Shakespeare -- the surprise with Nezumi (aka Rat's) "role" in the play as "Eve" was fascinating! Plus, dancing with Shion. I mean...
And then we catch up with Safu and there's quite an interesting connection (possibly) between her, Nezumi, and the world of No. 6....color me intrigued, y'all!

Well. Well, now. That. That was PAINFUL.
The fates of Ning, Qing, Yanli -- all called into question with EVEN MORE QUESTIONS surfacing this episode! And WuXian -- it's NOT just been him with the resentful energy throughout this -- in the words of Yoda, "There is another" using demonic arts and framing our chaotic gremlin.
Oh my God: the animation, the music, the pacing -- this entire episode was insanity!
And now, FINALLY, WuXian knows that Wangji knows he's in Mo Xuan...

This episode seems quieter on the surface, perhaps, but there's a LOT of dark undertones and sinister set up in this episode, especially in regards to the West Block...also, Shion's mother has an intriguing past connection, that may be tied to Rat (aka Nezumi)?
Rat seems to want to keep Shion at arm's length, but is it for Shion's sake...or Rat's? Hmmm...

After that insane climax to the battle with Hanami, how ELSE would we follow up, but with a baseball game?!
This episode is far from filler, though, as we not only get character development, but a surprising amount of set up and foreshadowing...which is definitely OMINOUS, despite the humor and bright colors!

This episode did things I did NOT expect: Gave us backstory on Joe/Cherry/Adam -- and a potential new love triangle -- while also giving us a glimpse of Langa and Reki possibly reconnecting (but not YET of course, because...we can't have nice things), and then THAT ENDING. HOW DARE YOU, SHOW! How dare you end the episode on that!

Oh, don't mind me...just freaking out because of this parasitic wasp that's infected Shion!
The OP/ED imagery of Shion and Rat (aka Nezumi) finally makes sense, but there's still a LOT of questions about the world of No. 6 and "outside" the walls of it -- and there's some interesting foreshadowing and set up of things to possibly worry about in the future!
