I've decided to toss in an additional stretch goal: TRAPS! Judging by the survey I gave earlier today, it seems like everyone really liked the trap I put out earlier this week. So I'd like to do a little more of that.
Also, I'm considering a micro-pivot towards more content that's usable immediately versus something that's "cool" like a subclass or campaign setting but has no real utility.
Expect a poll about that later.
In the meantime, invite your friends in. We get to 305...

It's my goal to continue to improve and evolve the content I put out on this Patreon page for all of you. That's why I want to try out some weekly surveys to figure out what you all like.
Out of all the content I've released since last Saturday, what have you enjoyed the most?

The Marvelous Land of Oz is filled with all manner of unusual creatures. Of course, you probably know about the Munchkins and Winkies and Quadlings and Gillikins. You may even know about the animals of Oz that can carry on a conversation just like a human. But did you know that Oz is also famous for its lifelike constructs? Whether they are made from porcelain, straw, or tin, the constructs of Oz are just as beloved and appreciated as any other living creature in the land.

I gotta say, so far this is a whole lot of fun. The first bit I've put out are constructs that come in three flavors: porcelain, straw, and tin.
More fun to come.
Expect an early release tomorrow morning, and then the full deal either this weekend or Monday morning.

Hey everyone!
Quick poll for you. I'm using GMBinder for my formats now, and was wondering if you all had a preference for how the material comes out. I can make it "easy to print" a la UA, or I can do the full color fancy style, too.
Vote down below!

Hey all!
Just a quick reminder so you don't think I ghosted on you, but I'll be working on the Wizard of Oz campaign setting notes and rules until Saturday. To save a little time, I'll probably put it in traditional markup (ie Fifth Edition format) versus the fancy one I was showing off about a month ago.
I'm going to try a few small release, too. Tomorrow morning I think I can probably get a race or two up and Saturday is freebie day, so I'll probably do something for...

Looking for ways to trip up those pesky, over-powered characters that are stomping through your campaign? The traps detailed in this series focuses on effects that require specific saving throws.
Our first entry is a wind bridge trap. The trap is designed to target characters who have poor Strength scores. Not only does it require a Strength saving throw while crossing, but to climb the wall on the far side, one must pass a Strength (Athletics) check. Plus, the lever on the far side can...

Hey all. Quick question for you. It's One-Shot Wednesday, so I'm going to do something adventure related. However, I got an idea for a quick book called DUMP STAT TRAPS that has 6 rooms in it built to target specific dump stats.
Is this something you're cool with getting versus an adventure, or would you just want to stick with the adventure?
I'll be working on it tonight after dinner, so let me know.

I liked the fire-eater monster so much, I decided to turn it into its own sorcerous origin.
Fire-eaters can trace their origin to the strange fire elves of the elemental planes. As the name implies, fire-eaters consume fire, converting it into raw arcane energy.

This is a quick one I put together for an upcoming Stat Anything appearing on the blog later tonight. I'm headed to the movies this evening to watch Joaquim Phoenix set stuff on fire (possibly inspiration for tonight's subclass? hmmm) but I wanted to make sure I gave you folks who go to bed early something to stew on 'til I get back.
You'll probably recognize right away where the inspiration comes from for this suit of power armor. Let's just say that certain "men of iron" wear these su...

Here it is, folks! BroadSword Monthly #2. Physical copies will HOPEFULLY be out by the end of the month.
If you see any mishaps, typos, etc. let me know. While we're working on a proof, we do still have time for some minor corrections.
To purchase the individual issue, I'll have it up on the site hopefully later today.
Thanks all and enjoy!
This title has been retired to the DMDave.com store:
It’s Subclass Tuesday, so I’ll have something cooking. But I hope to also finish up some of the assets for Pillar Island.
Probably have a poll for PI, too. See what you all think of it so far.
In the meantime, any ideas for cold based subclasses? Let me know below!

I'm creating a few more monsters tonight to complement the forthcoming Polar Night adventure (the big fat one using the Dyson Logos map). Since so many of the creatures in this adventure will have vulnerability to cold, it's likely characters will storm the place with fire spells and resistances. Since I'm such a devious adventure-crafter, I think tossing in a few monsters that thrive off fire damage should be fun.
Enjoy!

Hey hey, folks! It's that time again when I start collecting your requests.
This is using the new rules I set out a little while back. In case you missed the last post, here they are in a nutshell.
- You can request whatever you want except for adventures, campaign settings, or any other long-form content. In other words, it can be monsters, classes, subclasses, feats, magic items, etc.
- One request per patron per month.
- Requests are made the following month, ...

Hey folks,
Some of you have been asking about BSM #2's PDF. I'm happy to say that it should be out this week. Scott's putting the finishing touches on it tonight and then I should have it to look over. From there, it'll got to Jessica and start printing the physical copies to be mailed out.
Unfortunately, China had one of their many week-long vacations this last week, so I have a fear that it may push #2 physical into early November, but I'll press to get it done as quickly ...

Anatoly Turgenev, the antagonist of the adventure Polar Night, is a frost giant vampire lord. While Anatoly shares many similarities with the traditional vampire, this 1,000-year-old undead fiend has adapted his strengths and weaknesses to his frozen environment. His fortress, Zamerzat, lies far to the north of the southern kingdoms, obscured by an endless blizzard and surrounded by all manner of horrors, undead and otherwise.

Man, did I have fun creating this ruleset. It took a bit of massaging to get the Quick Combat rules the way I wanted them, but after I did, I was pretty happy.
I still have to create a lot of the assets that go with this and will spend the evening doing that, but at the very least, you've got the core rules here so you can get an idea of how the game. plays.
I'm sure there are typos and a few things missing beyond the aforementioned assets (hence the v1.0), so please feel free to ...

Also, I'm going to be working on this monstrosity today. December's theme is cold/winter, so I thought I'd make a throwback to Against the Giants' with this huge Dyson Logos map. I've got some pretty wild ideas for this adventure that's going to act a bit like Frozen meets Against the Giants meets Curse of Strahd.
Why am I talking about all this stuff today? Well, these are bigger projects which means I'll probably be distracted a bit while working on them—and probabl...

So this is what I'm working on today for this month's silver exclusive (in lieu of Buckler): Pillar Island.
Basically, Pillar Island is a campaign idea I've had for a long, long time--hell, probably since 2011, right when I really started getting into board games (and eventually, back into D&D).
Here is the basic concept:
Each player in the campaign plays a leader—their character. Similar to the show Lost, the characters find themselves stranded on an ...

Sphinxkin are the humanoid descendants of the mystical Sphinxes. Like their forebearers, sphinxkin are often exceptionally wise and intelligent. They share a connection to the past and are often found in scholarly roles such as archaeologists, historians, and sages. Others turn their wits towards mercantile trades and businesses where their perfect memories and inscrutability sets them apart from their competitors.

Great job everyone. We unlocked Oz. Since I have a few major projects set aside for this weekend already, I’m going to use this coming Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to put it all together for you. That way it’s not rushed. Like I said previously it’ll be a concise set that’ll give you everything you need to kickoff (similar to the Polyhedron installments in Dungeon mag).
Once again, congrats on the job well done!

Survivalist rangers are often found placed behind enemy lines, where their ability to blend in with their surroundings makes them dangerous foes.

Wow! That happened quickly. It was only a couple weeks ago when I set this goal and already we've picked up 63 new patrons. With 7 more, I'll get to work on putting together the Oz setting similar to the packet I created for Dark Sun a while back. It'll give you all the basics you need. Then, if it's a hit, later sometime in Q1 I'll probably look to do an official book!
Once we hit Oz, the next goal is 340. Looks like it's going to be Post-Apocalypse, which I'll start brainstorming on h...

I mentioned earlier today that there’d be no Buckler this month. So, instead, I’ll be creating an idea I’ve had for sometime available to silver tier+ patrons.
Imagine Lost meets Hunger Games meets Games Workshop’s Mordheim. Plus, the game works without a GM.
Hopefully I can pull all this off! Haha
Expect a rough version at first, then fleshing it out as we test it.

Hey everyone!
The bad news is that homebrewery deleted all my files for September. I've got the original text, but none of the markdown formatting. So it'd take a lot hours to clean it all up for GMB. Just another reason why I switch to GM Binder over homebrewery.
Having said that, I hope to offer something for Silver tier+ that I can work on this week. It would be totally original content and probably 10 pages or so.
Question is, what do you want to see? Le...
