As my latest storyline, "Little Gary in Dream Land", comes to a close, it's time to reflect back on what might've been (and what might've been way better than you ended up getting).
Today, while I was looking over some ideas I'd jotted down for future storylines, I came across some ideas for "Little Gary" that I kinda just forgot about.
Number one, Gary gets crabbier and crabbier throughout the storyline, eventually turning into one of the monstrous cran...

I will be insanely thrilled when they leave this stupid volcano. I'm ready to draw something else.

So for "Little Gary in Dream Land Pt11", I figured it would be easiest to draw one background to use for all 4 panels. There's always the risk that some of the drawing will be wasted, but the advantage is that I can keep the colors consistent across the whole thing.
Anyway, here's a look at the whole thing.
Here's a peak at tomorrow's comic (even though I don't actually have today's comic done yet....)

Sometimes when I'm brainstorming comics, I'll think of a funny concept, write the beginning of a comic around that idea, and then I just hope that I'll think of a funny enough way to wrap it up. But sometimes that doesn't work out so well.
This is one of those times.
By the way, if you think of a funny way to end this comic, put it in the comments! Maybe I'll draw up a couple in the next Q&A.
I've been trying to figure out a way to inject a little more surrealism into The Other End. And what's more surrealistic than dreams?? Nothing!!!!
So I was thinking of making a number of sporadically paced storylines involving the gang's various dream adventures. Some examples might be Freddie becoming a fighter pilot, Gary becoming a samurai, Kiah going to space, and Barry being put on trial by the devil.
With that in mind, the question is... Is this something you'd like to see? And if...
I thought about drawing this one up for awhile, but decided against it.
For one, a number of people think that Guy is Barry's dad, rather than his brother. (which might make this comic confusing)
But more importantly, the theme is kinda off topic and the joke is weak. And while I might let one of those things slide, together just isn't gonna cut it.

2017-02-11 17:18:11 +0000 UTC View PostLately I've been pretty busy working on the Tapas 30-Day Writing Challenge, where writers submit the first bit of a prospective novel, and the top three winners get their books published on the Tapas App.
So my wife and I submitted an adventure story we've been working on, and I thought I might share the first episode with you guys!
Episode One - "The Horned Hood"
Fifteen miles from anything that resembled civilization, Elias Raines finally realized he was tired...

I came up with this one awhile back, but never finished it for a few reasons.
First off, it's a little confusing, which is never good for a bait and switch comic. Even simple ones get misunderstood pretty frequently.
Second, the whole kite thing doesn't really fit with the season.
And finally, it just isn't that funny. Which is, of course, never a good thing.

When I'm brainstorming a new comic, I usually come up with some lines that don't really fit anywhere. They're either not funny enough to base a whole comic around, or require too specific of a setup.
Nevertheless, I always save them, with the plan to stick 'em into a later comic. Unfortunaly, that usually doesn't work out.
Here are a few that have been sitting around for awhile.
