Apologies, this month there's a problem

My stepdad was removed by the police from our house, and hasn't been allowed back since then because he made death threats to mom and myself, among other things throughout the night, and since then he had been calling us constantly until a few days ago. We'd talked to police and a lawyer to see what to do about it, but the only real option was to ignore him (since it was just words) and wait a year for mom to start divorce procedures.

Pages 42-43

Tried uploading this several times now, it's just a huge pain.

In short, this part of the story has gone through the most revisions because it steps away from the main plot in a major way. Hopefully it does what it's supposed to do, and it's not too offputting to have a sudden style change. Hopefully the reasons for the change are made clear through this segment, but I'll be making it more obvious before we return to the forest clearing.

Pages 40-41

We're done with Christmas now and back on to the story. Kinda, not a lot of story going on right now. Still, we're setting up something that should make more sense later.

Jiggle Bells

With Christmas comes a boatload of local work, usually. This year we didn't have the local Christmas play to put on, which is odd but I'd planned to have time for it, so there was some spare time this month.

We'll be back to the comic proper next month, consider this a vacation, and a vacation pic to match.

Pages 38-39

Sorry about the delays! These pages were practically done at the start of the month but we're heading into December and things are getting hectic. When I was first getting into art this was the month when it was impossible to get work, because everyone was going to university and by this point didn't have enough money for things, or were getting gifts for family and friends, and generally there was a lull that I just grew to accept as a forced vacation.

Still working out the new art program, I kinda miss some of my old brushes, might spend a bit of time trying to get the good ones into this one. The new one is Clip Studio Paint, and it's particularly good for comics, and compared to Krita it almost never crashes.

This image also doubled as a test for using Clip Studio Paint to replace Krita.

I've been using Krita for a year or so now and it's pretty great, but the downsides are that saving files takes a good five seconds, which freezes up the drawing space until it's done. If you have autosave set to a short timespan then inevitably you'll get irritated by the constant pauses. You need to have it set to autosave often, because Krita also crashes a lot. Google Drive Saturday Sketches

At the request of Raky I've compressed the Saturday Sketches that were already submitted to FA into zip files, if you "Make a Copy" to your google drives then this should require less clicking to download them. I wasn't aware you had to do them individually.

Pages 30-31

You can tell on which months I had enough time to work at my own pace by the quality of the characters. If it's more than two characters and a busy month then I'm going to either forget or intentionally skip details in favor of getting it done and moving on to the next pages. Hope you guys are enjoying your summer!

Art 2017 Folder

Last years artworks and pinups all bunched together for the archive. Since we've upgraded to Google, I'll be able to move the rest of the archive here as soon as it's all finished updating. Some files are having a hard time uploading, but it's gonna happen!

Saturday Sketches 2018(2017 included)

Here's the file that kept pushing us over the limit, I'm setting this to 'patrons only' mode since anyone can see these on streams, and setting it to 'everyone' mode would break the rules as far as I know them. If there's complaints I can boost this up to the $5 tier like the rest, but I doubt it'll come to that.

New Compilation Link

Dropbox reached its 2 gig file size limit and Google's drive service has 15 gigs, so we're switching over. If there's any issues with this let me know and I;'ll see what I can do, this is a whole new setup for me.

Pages 28-29

By this point I'm not really expecting the twist to still be a secret, but if it is then it should help explain some of the stuff that happened in prior pages. Or I did it wrong and some people get confused, anticipating what everyone thinks is pretty difficult, what's common sense to some is a totally foreign and unrealistic concept to others.

Updating the Banner

After some rumblings about image content and the content crackdown, I've updated the banner to show less questionable content. It might not be reduced enough, so let me know if you can find anything in the current rules that this doesn't mesh with. The goal here is to push it as far as allowed, but no further than the line in the sand.

So, these pages are kinda iffy, might revise them later this month before submitting them on FA. Let me know what you think, and I'll get to work on the script for the next two pages for this month. Progress!

Sorry for the delays, these pages went through some revisions because I forgot about the mud in places. I spent a while editing the dialogue but it still flows funny in places, so let me know what you think.

Mimic

So here's what replaced one of this months comic pages, due to surgery taking up the early part of the month. Turned out that this took even more time than a page would have, so I screwed that up.

Problems were that I didn't finish the toes, and the sculpt wasn't aligned right with the final model (I made tweaks after the fact and didn't want to fix the base sculpt) so there's no normal maps here, just the smooth model.

Bimbo Plague

Revisiting this idea, though I used a sketch from April last year to finish this. I also used Blender for the background, to practice. To save myself time I used a lot of pre-made assets from the creative commons, and it saved a hell of a lot of time.

On the plus side, my original sketches for the background were close to the right amount of fish-eye, so it blends together really well. In some places less so, but I wasn't really expecting to get it right, fish-eye is hard.

April Mimic Model Version 1

Technically this is version 2, the original was just the head and face, today was body work.

This is going to take the place of one of the comic pages, just for this month, because surgery has taken one week already, got another week of "no work" to do, and two months until my next checkup.

I'll be taking it easy this week, working on this one, and next week we'll start on the comic page. I hope this turns out well! I'll let all my patrons see this in progress with each day's work.

Pages 23-24

Busy weekend, wasn't able to finish this when I'd planned to. Now that that craziness is over, here's the next two pages of the comic. Because I'm gonna be healing up this month I might not have enough time for the next two pages, we'll see. I'll try to do a pinup to fill in for the missing page though, I expect I might only be late on one of them.

Bimbo VR

Thanks to Mr Sandwiches for bringing up some older art that got me thinking about this sort of theme again. This one has no real colors beyond the shading layer getting some color added to it, overall it turned out nicely. Some artists prefer doing all the shading before adding color underneath it, I've found it takes longer to do and it's harder to control the end result if you're not practiced enough at it.

Alright, this months update is a couple days later than I wanted, we ended up revising the dialogue a few more times, thank you Samhat for suggesting certain alterations. If you guys think something feels a little off or hard to understand, please, let me know.

Not telling we what's wrong means I'm more likely to repeat mistakes, and I'd rather nip them in the bud with some necessary criticism rather than make high quality art and then have terrible writing to go with it.

Evidence and Stolen Property

Sorry sorry sorry about these being so late! I was trying to get this done for the end of last month, been experimenting with doing all the sketches at once and then moving on rather than one page at a time, which works and is faster, but it wasn't quite fast enough and I'm a day late. Sorry!
