Video Update #15 - Sudden Halloween Video?

Hope you enjoyed the weekend!

I think that's the first video I've put a small jumpscare into a review video. As it turns out YouTube still detects video timestamps as a spam link sometime, so I came back to around 40 "likely spam" flagged comments all with variations of "6:34 fuck you" in several languages. I'm surprised how many people I managed to actually get with it as I tim...

Video Update #14 - Cults, Cthulhu, and Consoles

Everything's on schedule!

I ended up coming down with a slight sickness since thursday, but luckily the only thing that stopped was my ability to record audio and I was able to surge ahead with the CoC video. It should be up at the usual time this coming Friday. Surprisingly, I haven't had any crazy visual bugs yet during the recording process which reminds me of when I played Shadow of Chernobyl without a single crash. I am recording a bit more of the game on the higher diffi...

Update #13 - Next Video Questions/Cultist Simulator & Pathologic Schedule

The work continues.

Call of Cthulhu DCOTE is coming along nicely. While I was aware there was another Call of Cthulhu titled game coming out, I didn't know it was at the end of this month until this week so the video is going to be a lot more topical than I expected. I'm expecting the video to be out next Friday, but I'll be taking the questions for it now in the case that I'm able to surge ahead and release it this coming Friday. There's surprisingly little to report for a ga...

Update #12 - October Plans

Good evening!

Now that I'm back on top of everything, here's what's going on this month.

The next video, as some guessed, is Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth. This will be one of the first videos in a while where I won't need to be doing large tweaking as the GOG version fixes all the issues previous versions had like the skybox not rendering along with the AWFUL missing blue target bug in a cannon section that drove me to near insanity in 2011. The movement spe...

Update #11 - I Survived. Arx Fatalis video this Friday!

What a week.

The hurricane didn't hit as hard here as I feared, but instead created localized zones of chaos. Basically some shoddy buildings would collapse and be damaged along one avenue, one road would be flooded and the one next to it fine, and it wasn't nearly the physical manifestation of Poseidon that the city had screamed about. Unfortunately, I did have power outages over the weekend at seemingly random times of both day and night making work both slow and INCREDIBLY ...

Update #10 - Next Set of Video Questions/Hurricane Florence

My doom is coming.

For those of you unaware, my new location is directly in the path of Hurricane Florence which has been labelled as a Category 4 at the time of this post. Think "very bad news" for those at the coast. While I'm not living directly on the coast, I'm close enough to the sea that things are going to be somewhat destructive, and when the bank and insurance providers star...

Update #9 - Back at Full Capacity/Next Video

Good evening!

As you can see from the audio test above, the room has finished acoustic treatment completely. While the back of the room is still a slight mess that needs organizing, the important part is the front end is ready to go.

The desk, chair, second monitor, new large mousepad, and all the other goodies came over the week. Luckily the IKEA ALEX drawers were a breeze to s...

The Final Moving Update - It's Mostly Over/Sound Work

Evening!

I'm now 99% done moving. The only things that I'm waiting on are the desk and chair for the office which arrive on Monday and Wednesday respectively. I thought the desk from IKEA would be here sooner, but it turns out Sweden has been going through some wildfires which slowed things down. I've finished the main work for sound treating the room, so I'll show how some of that has gone over.

Moving Update #2

Evening!

I've been busy moving stuff and am finally just about settled in. Annoyingly most of the acoustic foam and bass absorbers are taking a bit longer than expected but I plan on beginning installation as soon as it arrives in this coming week. As you can see from the image above, my desktop is sort of set up so I can start getting back into the swing of things. While I can't do hardcore editing work or any audio recording yet, I can get started on recording some ...

Moving Update #1

Boy oh boy can things go wrong in a move.

TL;DR: There have been some issues. Next video is a normal length one in September, August credits will be combined with September. Things are going okay.

It's not too bad. I've learned this lesson before, but this time around I'm learning a completely new set of them. I'm a bit delirious right now, so I can't recall if I've mentioned it before, but the place I'm moving into is brand new. It finished con...

Update #8 - The Move

Afternoon everybody!

Patreon moved its servers over to the UK, so if something went weird with your payment stuff that's probably why. A lot of American banks got declined which hit some people pretty hard, but it turns out most people backing me here aren't American so it wasn't a huge blow. This post will be set to public just in case someone is locked out of the page and then gets concerned about their bank getting a fraud charge. If that happened to you, it wasn't just you...

Midnight Special Update & Poll

I've debated how to handle this over the last hour.

First is the good news. The good news is that the place is going to work out and the office isn't going to be an acoustic nightmare.

The bad news is I'm going to be moving there sooner than expected. Over two weeks sooner.

The original plan was to move in during the start of the fourth week in August, now it's moved up into being the beginning of August. While starting to get a new place set up quicker should<...

Video Update #7 and Status of Move

It's finally the weekend.

As you can tell no schedule miracles happened so the video is on track for this coming Friday as I thought in the last post. There was luckily less to do in recording since I forgot how little choosing a camp affects the overall main story of the game so I've been able to begin some work in the editing timeline. The biggest challenge so far is simply organizing all the footage because there's a lot this time around. After the normal cutting d...

Video Update #6 and Next Credit Questions

Afternoon everybody!

It's been a busy week. Luckily I've been able to put some good hours into recording Gothic, organizing footage and doing some editing, and I'm nearly complete with my first playthrough. When I played it the past I'd usually end up doing quests in all of the camps before deciding on one to get extra levels, and in the case of recording it's helpful for having multi...

Video Update #5

Afternoon!

The mod video has gone over exceptionally well, which I'm pretty happy about. While I thought it would be one of the easier videos to work on, it ended up being one of the most stressful since Aurora. Figuring out how to hammer out a somewhat new format while not straying too far from the normal reviews, deciding what parts of the interview to incorporate in, having to get some people lined up for the audio work, and finally worrying about how people would receive i...

Video Update #4 and Progress on Mod Interviews/Move

Evening!

I got back from my trip on Sunday. The good news is it looks like I have a place set up, and I'll be signing a lease in the end of July for it if all goes according to plan. This will make August-September a bit iffy on main video content since it'll be during a move in time, but I plan to have a video or two for the end of July to make the gap a little easier. For now I've g...

Video Update #3 and Cut Vangers AMV

Afternoon!

This post was written in advance and scheduled instead of being posted manually. So if this is showing up after the Friday I set it to then something's gone wrong.

I went out of town on Tuesday so I wrote this on Monday night to give some progress on the upcoming video. I've set up a meeting with the creator and company of Dawn of War Ultimate Apocalypse, and we'll be having our big "video talk" when I get back. I'm still not sure how the raw interviews (raw a...

Video Update #2 and the Next Game Poll

Howdy!

Unfortunately I wasn't able to put the questions section into the credits of the last video. I was finishing up the editing with an ear infection, and the last parts I had to voice were the final four or so lines. If you listen closely you can actually hear me struggling in the final few sentences over the producer credits because I was a bit disoriented. I'll be mov...

Official Video Project Update #1

This is the first OFFICIAL video progress post. These will typically be every Friday/Saturday once a week so this should be the first double post in a week for a while.

NecroVisioN is a pretty violent game already, and I decided to use the cooler looking cover with the Imperial skeletons for the video instead of some of the tamer ones it has. Unfortunately YouTube isn't metal enough to appreciate that, so the video got banished to the shadow realm which wasn't unexpected. The good news is YouT...

Video Progress + First Round of Questions

Typically these posts will be on the Friday/Saturday after I upload a video, but I have to kind of ignite the engine for those first. So this will be an earlier than usual post for those.

I've beaten NecroVisioN and the Lost Company standalone prequel along with most of the challenge maps. Several who told me about NecroVisioN were really hyping up Lost Company, and while it's a lot better balanced it has its own special issues that I'll be going into soon. The video is a good wa...

Aftermath of the First Day

To put it simply, I'm blown away.

The times between Thursday and today reminded me of a few years ago when I was playing a D&D game with a few friends. The rogue was trying to make a disguise out of a cactus, and the DM got so fed up with begging  that he made it possible but only with a check of natural 20. Of course, he rolled it. The DM then explained the downsides of the cactus disguise for about the next 10 minutes. The fact it could be full of spiders, was obviously prickly...
