So, when I was writing this scene, I actually had a bit of trouble trying to write how to specifically show what makes Val and especially Frankie and Alfred special and why they would be perfect as ACES agents; at this point, Val's talents practically writes itself, but how do you show a zombie character that doesn't die, visually, in a semi-realistic setting?

Only change I'd like to see made would be the games Alfred's playing on the 2 monitors to something more hand-drawn, so it wouldn't clash with the rest of the page, but we'll see. : P

This commission wasn't cheap; $120, to be exact, but I think it was well worth the investment!

Anyways, if you haven't noticed by now, Frankie and Val have new clothes that they'll wear, starting in Chapter 2 (give or take a few minor tweaks), so consider this a sneak preview of sorts!

Btw, remind me to commission ref sheets for these guys once Chapter 1 is finished!

When I was writing this page, I had that revelation as I was writing Lydia's line, that maybe vampires shouldn't really be in a hospital, for obvious reasons. You guys saw the US version of Being Human, right? Heck, as the show went on, the hospital the vampire guy works in actually keypad locks the room that houses all the blood bags, presumably because the other staff noticed small quantities have gone missing, and/or there's a blood shortage.

Originally, this page and next was going to simply have Gordon explaining why he needed them without showing shots of showing why they are perfect for the job, but that would've been boring.  XD

Eeey, we got backstory!

So, when I was coming up with this scene, I felt like starting at the end of World War II would be a nice place where the US army would discover the artifacts, because the Axis forces did a bunch of unethical experiments, so I figured they probably would've known about these various powered objects for quite a while before the Allied forces started raiding German castles.

Also, I wanted to use Dachau Palace as a reference for the first panel because I figur...

What To Expect: July 2020

We're now at the point in this pandemic where everyone assumed we were all safe again, and people stopped bothering to cover their faces, and we're now on the verge of going back to square one. Lovely. At least we have some exciting games coming out for the rest of the year, though! (Seriously, in one of the worst years of our time, NOW we get all these games that everyone's wanted for years/decades. What's up with that?! XD )

So, when I first started conceiving the ideas that would ultimately become ACES, back in August 2018, I was trying to think of how I could make Las Vegas the perfect setting; I knew I wanted there to be a secret HQ in a similar vein to Moonlit Brew's PXS, but trying to figure out how to implement one in a city full of tourist attractions would make it very difficult to make it similar to the Seattle Municipal Tower.
