Anyway, see? Now THIS is the reaction Simon was supposed to give off, not the over-exaggerated one from vanilla Chapter 1! To be fair... he could still act like that on a bad day, but this is not one of those times.
Oh snap, you're getting not one, not two, but THREE uploads today! Halloween (and Lydia's birthday tomorrow) is indeed gonna be special this year. ;)
Sam knew he was gonna have to draw out the big guns, so he's getting 'em cocked right here.... though in the form of his laptop. If his laptop actually made a cocking sound, he should probably get that fixed or get a new one. ^^;
Sorry for the delay; Atari had some computer problems that needed to be fixed, but he just sent me this page a few minutes ago (there's no WIPs for it this time, but I'm just glad we'll have this page finished on time this week. X_X )
Anyway, there's really only 3 problems I have with the page before I consider it done:
1. The license plate not only looks very basic, but it also doesn't match the Washington plate you see IRL. So, I'm pretty much having him take care of that.
If you haven't checked it out yet, go ahead and do so! It's nothing big; just the color of the floor being corrected on the last panel, but I did want to give everyone a heads up when the page was fixed, and therefore finished. :)
So, there's really only one change that needs to be made, and it's on the bottom panel: the white void looks really weird, and needs to have the wood flooring from the earlier panels. Other than that, the page looks fine. :)
Also, I wrote to Atari about possibly making a mini-comic about the Patreon, perhaps as a way to advertise the comic, and show how much money we need to do the various goals we have. And also maybe do a Halloween illustration of the main three as characters from Star Vs Th...
So, I've been getting into Phantasy Star Online 2 at the moment; it's a love-hate relationship because I'm forced to play episode 4, which doesn't have any translations, and it won't let me unlock the previous episodes that HAVE been translated until I get far enough... :/
The final version should be ready some time later today!
Here are some more refined sketches, as well as the middle two panels being inked. Atari tells me that it should be ready by Saturday, so here's what I'm gonna do: I will not upload the final version of the page to the public until the next friday (so, on the 14th); this way, we'll be on pace with the schedule, and ensure the backers get a week's worth of exclusivity.
Hopefully, since Atari and I are now both back on vacation, our schedule will be back to normal.
As you might have read on the last post, I've basically said that we only have enough money for 2 pages next month; it's not what neither you nor I want, but as I've stated, I'd rather give you 2 pages that are full quality rather than 4 that have backgrounds that aren't up to the standards of the previous pages.
So, Ataribetch emailed back to me, and he is now back and ready to continue the comic! However, with that said, I should get the elephant in the room out of the way: You might have seen that I added a new $120 goal to the Patreon, where if/when we reach it, we will be back to 4 pages a month. As I mentioned on the last post, we've had a couple of our biggest backers drop out while I was on vacation, and I was in a bit of a panicky mood. At long last, the cover vote is finally upon us! I normally would have this be a $3 thing , since this is a WIP after all, but considering this is a public vote (with you guys getting first dibs, and the exclusive ability to download these at full resolution , mind you), I'm making this an exception.

After a couple weeks of Chapter 4 goodness, we finally get to touching the chapter 1 remake!
Atari hasn't sent me the sketch for the cover yet, since he wants to make sure he gets it down juuust right. Still, I'm just happy I will not only have a consistent art style throughout the whole comic by the time this chapter is done, I will also be able to properly go aggro with showing off the comic to as many people as possible and the like.
I just wanted to make a quick reminder, though with a slight twist: I will be on vacation from the 9th-19th. I will most definitely have internet on the cruise ship as well as when I'm at the hotel in Miami, but I don't know how fast it will be at the former, since we're talking about satellite wi-fi, so uploading to the public on time is pretty much a no-go for most of the vacation.
HOWEVER, I want to make this the schedule as normal as I can, so I've thought up a solution: the next page will...
This time around, there's not a lot of changes that need to be make (outside of fixing a slight error on the laptop screen in the 3rd panel, some coloring goofups on the first panel, and fixing Sam's hands, and making the laptop's keyboard a bit more detailed. I'm also wanting to add in some game consoles on the bottom panel to fill in the empty space in the glass on the 4th panel.

Just a heads up: Chapter 1 has finally been rewritten! Once we get started uploading pages of the (slightly) new version, I firmly believe that you guys will say it is the definitive version of how Sam/Simon/Lydia's adventures kicked off!

As promised, we replaced the photocopied images with hand-drawn stuff, and if you look closely, the colored areas not being filled in or going over the lineart is not nearly as noticeable as the previous version. I invite you guys to compare and contrast, if you wish. ;)

Here's the first page of the new chapter! I was sorta expecting to get the chapter 1 cover vote happen next, but we have plenty of time for that. : P
Anyway, the text is a tad too cramped for my taste, so I am wanting to move the last two panels of Sam typing away on his laptop to the next page and instead show the trio's reactions to seeing the splendor that is Troll 2. ;)
That, and I want to better show off Sam's room so the mood for page 2 will be a bit more appropriate.
And here's the final version of the cover! Only one change Atari has to make this time around, and that's to have the font for the chapter title be the same as Chapter 2's. (UPDATE: Just got this corrected!) I just remembered Chapter 3's cover doesn't have a title, but that's one of the many reasons why we're going to be touching up and redoing pages from chapter 2 and 3 later.
I'm planning on uploading this to the public tomorrow, mainly so I can keep schedule, and so Atari and I can star...
Sorry this took a tad longer than anticipated; not only was Patreon deciding to act a bit slow today, but the delay was also because we were discussing something cool we wanted to do for the Chapter 1 cover that will be decided by only you, the Patron People. You'll see what I mean, next week. : )
