JTW 1-5

Hey, look, it's Sandy Starling!  And she brought a truckload of exposition with her!

End  page one, BTW.  Assembled page later this evening.  Blank image attached.

She's got a point, Sandy.

Edit 7-10:  Added the textless version.

Comic Panel—Julie Kim

A panel from a comic I’m currently drawing for Patreon. I was really happy with it so I’m sharing it around social media. if you’re curious to see what the night has in store for this young woman, a full res version with dialogue is available now to $10+ Patrons. It’ll soon be released as part of a page to $5+ patrons, and will be shared with $1 plus patrons when and if the whole story is completed.

JTW 01-3

Next installment.  I have to say, I'm really happy with this one as a stand alone image.  It's nice to show  a relatively mundane action like sitting down and setting down your case.

Two more to complete this page!  Full res textless version attached, but I think I'll be sharing a lower res version of this publicly.

Sandy seems rather frantic about something, doesn't she?  Textless version attached.

JTW 1-1

So I feel a little bad that there's not been as much content in terms of longer form sequences.  I'm still busy with commissions (about to start a big one!) so I thought I'd try something that was a little less intimidating.  I'm starting a new project which will be done pencil and shades of gray, one panel at a time, which are designed to later be assembled into pages.  I'll try to do a panel each day though that may always be possible.  $10  subscribers will get eac...

Tried my fast n’ dirty shading approach with color. I think it does work better with the grayscale approach, especially with what I have in mind...

Hi-Res: Freedom Eagle

A pic I did for the 4th of a fairly new OC.  She was originally designed as a Lost Heroine named Freedom Girl but I like the design so much I think she may get promoted to the main SAS Comics continuity.  Hi Res version exclusive to Patreon.

Character Sketch: “Cindy”

A character sketch of the heroine from the Moonlight Ball concept image I posted earlier this month, in her Cinderella ball gown before any signs of her family’s true heritage starts to show itself. The class contains an elixir slipped to her by the family servants in an attempt to jumpstart her awakening, so to speak.

WIP Sneak Peek

I’m sorry the back end of the month has been a little slow. I picked up a nasty infection that kind of took me out of play for almost two weeks, and when I came back, I had to shift focus to my commissions. Here’s a peek at one, which is could serve as a PSA about doing your research before trying any new dietary supplements...

Sketch: Valoria in Flight

Sorry the back half of this month has been a little quiet. I’ve been dealing with an intestinal bug and infection which has knocked the wind out of me for a couple of weeks now. I’m starting to get back in the saddle now, but I’ve got some commissions to catch up on. Meanwhile here’s an advance look at a pic featuring my lost heroine, Valoria, to fill the gap a little.

SPOILER: She-Wolf Halloween Costume design

I mention when I posted the Moonlight Ball concept drawing that I had originally intended it for a Halloween sequence but that it was too long to finish for this Halloween, somI might do something a little simpler. I’m looking at a scenario featuring the Canine Crusader herself, and for my $10+ folks, I’m giving a sneak peek with a sketch of a Halloween costume for our heroine:

Character Design: Costume Ball Heiress

Just a quick sketch I did of the girl from the last post, meant for my $10+ subscribers. She’s of course modeled on Disney’s Cinderella—primarily the revised character model they’ve been using over the last couple of years in their merchandising, with some details from the original as well. I’ve been wanting to do some kind of Cinderella beauty to beast sequence for some time now, because she is the archetypical princess and there’s no greater contrast to the monstrosity of a wer...

Concept Sketch: Costume Balls Make Me...

EXCLUSIVE: I always have more ideas than time, so I try to deal with some of that with these concept sketches.  The premise of this one, intended for possibly Halloween, is that a young heiress is reluctant host to a lavish Halloween Party at her family's estate.  The night takes a surprising turn as she realizes the tales her parents told her as a young girl about her family's legacy are true... She's delighted, actually, but now she must slip out of the party while eluding a persi...

Bunnymen Redux

I've been lucky to have both parents be supportive of my art.  The Bunnymen were supporting characters in the old She-Wolf comic I did for my college newspaper back in the early 90's.  Dad was a fan and so I made a little profile sheet for him which he has had hanging in first his office and now at home.  Last year he asked for an updated version to show how much my art has evolved in over 25 years.  I took the opportunity to add a few members to the lineup who were introd...

Uncanny X-Hulk

Awhile back I got the itch to draw a hulkout and asked the patrons here for suggestions.  One person mentioned Jean Grey  and it reminded me of an idea I had based on a comic released a few years ago.  It was called Savage Hulk and was a flashback of sorts recounting the classic on-the run-you-wouldn't-like-me-when-I'm-angry Bruce Banner encountering the original Uncanny X-Men.  Something goes wrong with Xavier's attempt to help Bruce which (apparently) somehow causes his ...

Character Sketch—Paranormal Professor?

Sometimes no matter what else you’re working on an idea gets in your head and you have to get it down on (digital) paper. A paranormal investigator with a secret or two of her own? Or just another sign I’m a sucker for girls in ties?

Ms. Giant Poster--Final

Here it is--the combined final poster for Diana Saez, aka Ms. Giant--a character who goes almost as far back as the Canine Crusader herself!

TV reporter Diana Saez is loved by her viewing audience for her sunny, perky, good humored style which carries her through many "local color" stories, though that regrettably keeps her from doing the kind of serious reporting she aspired to in college.  Things take a turn for the strange when she does a little snooping and stumbles into the la...

Where we're headed next: June and Beyond...

Hello, valued Patrons!  We've closed the books on another month, and after losing some momentum creatively in April, I feel like May brought back some mojo.  For one thing, we did not have as severe an exodus at the end of the month just before billing time, which I really appreciate as a vote of confidence from all of you.  Any losses we did take (and there'll always be a few, life happens) were lessened by some new folks jumping in right at the start of the month.  There...
