K: I taught her to fly. She was so scared at first she wouldn’t let go of my hand, but once she caught her first updraft nothing could wipe the smile off her face. she likes jello with fruit pieces in, and rainbow sprinkles in her sandwiches. Her favorite color is pink. …her wings are probably still speckled with baby feathers.

. I used to think the corvids were the bad guys. That’s why I agreed to work for the director against them in the first place. But the wider I open my eyes, the more I see. The more I see, the more I realize how backwards ive had it. I was so stupid to think the director would ever have helped me out with a better life. She would never be able to give that to me, even if she’d wanted to. It’s something that has to be fought for.
