In case you're wondering what local coordinates are, they are basically X/Y/Z coordinates in reference to the ship itself, unlike orbital coordinates, which calculate the apoapsis, periapsis and orbital speed.
So, in local coordinates:
X/-X controls left/right
Y/-Y controls forward/backward
Z/-Z controls up/down
