Here is another big man I had a pretty clear vision for in my head. I deliberated over whether to have him standing in front of the truck, but ultimately decided that would be too close to The Farmer in terms of pose.

It was a fun challenge to draw young Roy when he was all slim and then bulk him up, and also depict him as clean-shaven again. I used his first appearance in Max & Roy 1 as the basis for his look, which I've added here for some context too.

As you can see, it took me a few attempts to get their poses right in this chapter. Max is basically at a size now where it's very tricky to draw him interacting with Roy in a way that A) still looks natural and B) they both actually fit into the frame. I also included my early character sketches for Ezra and Teddie, so you can see what Roy's brother actually looks like.

At first I had The Doctor looking a little more austere and serious, but ultimately I wanted him to come across like a big friendly bear - someone who looked ready to hug at moment's notice, hence the change in design.
