Thoughts on "The Succubus in Mr Herbert's Summer House"

I sometimes like to do a follow-up, so here's some behind scenes stuff on the short story I put out a couple of days ago - "The Succubus in Mr Herbert's Summer House."  There will be spoilers, so please read the story first (it's an attachment in the previous post).

It's a good idea.  Everything's dropped into place.  It'll be easy to rattle it off in time for Literotica's Summer Contest.

Apologies.  I was really hoping to have "The Succubus in Mr Herbert's Summer House" out by now.  I hit a pretty nasty block trying to get it over the finish line.  This is something that tends to happen with me for the longer short stories.  I either speed up at the end and rattle them off quickly, or slow right down and it becomes a bit of a crawl to get them done.

A quick update on the Summer Contest story.

That's moving well.  It seemed a slamdunk idea, at first, then got a bit tricky as I couldn't nail down the two main characters or the shadowy character setting them their task.   When I find a story is getting snarled up, one of my strategies to get around that is to start the typing up before the first draft is done.  That allows me to clean up the beginning and then get the rest of the story back on track.  That wor...

This week I focused on typing up the "Busty Milk Sprayer" H-space short story.  It took longer than I thought as the story was also a lot longer than I thought.  It comes in at just over 7,000 words.  I was debating releasing it tonight, but it's getting late here and I don't like editing a story on the same day as I finish typing it up.

Weekly Update - Aug 24th '20

Right, 2,000 words typed up today and I feel a lot better.  Last week was a bit of a mess.  I was away for most of it and struggled to make progress when I had the chance.  The gears got a bit jammed.

General Update - 26th Jul '20

This was another week that saw some time devoted to other projects.  Working on the H-space stories got me productive again, so I decided to let that run for the first half of the week.

I gave the Sun Lamia story a full revamp, which you can read in the previous post.  Please give feedback if you can.  The aim is to show more character development and world-building for the setting, but if it comes across as just padding the word count up, I'm not doing it right.

General Update - 19th Jul '20

More of a general update this week.  I felt I was getting a bit locked up trying to push the HoHH lamia scenarios through and just needed to work on some other writing projects to get the gears moving again.

I didn't drop tools on HoHH completely and managed to get a chunk of Smother Lamia's scenario typed up.

Quick note on Sales Tax

Patreon has been nagging me through email.  I'm still not quite sure what the changes are, but they will be coming in for July.  I believe they might be more relevant for creators offering tiers with more tangible rewards (T-shirts, mugs, etc).

For now I will be keeping the single $1 tier (although people are welcome to donate more).  I've broken it down as 75% General Support and 25% Early Access.  I'm hoping that will mean you should not be liable for any sales tax...

A better week.  Still slow as I'm still trying to remove myself from annoying distractions, but I did get a chunk of writing done.  I had a block on dancing lamia, so I switched to the mysterious boob smother lamia.  I'm liking how her scenario is coming along and the way she fits in with some of the other characters.  I had rough ideas for clans and one is now starting to take shape (although I still don't know what their "Queen" will be).

There was an annoying block, as unfortunately happens from time to time.  I seem to be coming out of it now.  Currently I'm deep in writing the 1st of the 3 sexy snek girls - the dancing lamia.  As I did have a minor stutter at the start of the month, it looks like this month's release will be the snake girls and the minor gift revamp.

The 1st draft is always the slowest part.  I'm hoping to get into the typing up and implementation next...

Version 0.012 is out as you can see from the previous post.  This is the three harlots that were supposed to go out with Nurse Honey.  I hope you're having fun with them.

The next planned release is 3 new harlots and some minor code tweaks around gifts.  I'm also going to try and tackle that slowdown problem people have reported.
