Rappenem Robot Redesign WIP!

It's been a while since I last redesigned my avatar and since I'm making the move away from pixel art and into digital art I thought it'd be a good time to give it another shot (this time in digital!).

I'd still like to hint towards my pixel art stuff but making the face a pixel display, thought I'm not sure how that'll turn out in the final illustration :P

Upcoming Patreon Changes!

Hey guys, hope you’re having a great day so far! 

As some of you may have noticed, I haven’t been doing much pixel art as of late, and I’ve been focusing more on my digital art like the food animal designs.

That’s for several reasons, the main one being that my passion has always been to design cool characters and creatures, and I feel that digital is a medium that’s better suited for me when it comes to that :P

And with my attention being turned away from pixel art, I would also like for the Patreon to reflect that (it wouldn’t make much sense to theme it all around pixel art tutorials if I rarely make any :P).

So as of next month, I’m going to be changing up the Patreon a bit and moving it away from pixel art tutorials. Most of the rewards will stay the same, but there will be some changes, notably for the Pixel Archmage and Pixel Oracle tiers (although I don’t quite have everything figured out yet).

Now these changes will only start as of December so for those who are still paying for this month’s tier rewards, don’t worry you’ll still be getting those as well as a few tutorials like usual! I just wanted to let you guys know in advance about the upcoming changes so that you can adjust your memberships accordingly if you wish!

If you plan on leaving now that I won’t be doing much tutorials anymore, just know that the support up to now has been greatly appreciated, thank you <3

PS: This doesn’t mean I’ll be completely stopping pixel art (I still love the medium!), just that it’ll be less frequent.

I've just sent out the tier rewards for the month of October, as you'll see this was quite a productive month for me in terms of art :3

Also I've started working on another food animal, this one doesn't have a specific reference image that I used, if I remember correctly someone recommended I a fried egg stingray on Twitter and I just liked the idea!

Also I'm aware that this is quite a stylized way of drawing water and may not work for everyone, but the overall process should be useful for most people regardless of specific styles!

Nightmare eel WIP

Been a while since I've done a creepy creature drawing, and when I saw this reference image of what I believe is a disfigured moray eel, I knew what I had to do >:3

For the rendering I'm testing out this monochromatic green look which is supposed to imitate old deep sea footage, but perhaps I'll go for something different for the final render, let me know what you guys think!

Patreon Ideas?

I’m wanting to start shifting my Patreon more towards my digital art since it's what I've mostly been doing over the past year, and I’m just wondering what kind of rewards you guys would like to see/be interested in that are in line with the digital art I’ve been making?

I have a couple of ideas so far ranging from making stickers to doing Patron-submitted redesigns, but I'd like to know what you guys think?

New potential Patreon idea!

Lately I've been feeling like I'm running out of ideas for "good" pixel art tutorials. I've also been doing a lot more digital art than piixel art for several reasons. So I've been thinking about potentially making some big changes to my Patreon.

Nothing super concrete yet, and I'll still be making a couple more tutorials in the coming weeks, but I figured I'd let you guys know what I've been thinking about lately. I'll of course update you guys before making any big changes!

Anyways I'd like to start exploring other avenues for Patreon that aren't only about pixel art tutorials, and since people seem to be enjoying my designs lately I thought something like this could be fun, let me know what you guys think?

The idea would be to let members of a certain tier submit designs and I'd go through some of them every month for a redesign! Still don't have it all figured out but it's something I'd like to experiment with in the near future :D

More environment practice

I've been wanting to get better at drawing/designing environments recently so I'm starting to practice with some thumbnails paintings! I'd eventually like to be able to draw fully realized environment concept illustrations, but it'll take a while to get there :P Anyways I'll post my practice drawings here for now!

This one is too heavy on the lineart and is barely a painting so I didn't even finish it, but I kinda like the composition :P
