Some drawing practice I decided to make a bigger picture out of. I'll be working on it piece by piece in my spare time, until it's all colored up and sweet. I'll be adding a very hard rain digitally, when I color it.

Back Home

I'm back home, and noticing all the interesting smells my house has since being gone from it for four days.

Work will resume tomorrow in earnest.

Vacation!

A general announcement that I'm taking a trip out to Arizona starting May 6th (Sunday) and I'll be gone through Thursday the 10th. So, there won't be any updates through that period and I'm not sure if I'll be able to draw much while I'm out there, scouting around. I appreciate your support and your patience for those days.

I need to see more of the country before deciding where to settle!

I was getting ready to color this and I realized I don't think I'd ever colored Angelica before. I went through my archives and I wasn't able to find any images of her that I'd colored in the past. So, I guess these are her colors now.

Book Break

Original Life Story Sheet 04-10-2018

I wasn't sure what to call the weird notes I keep about possible stories that fly into my mind through my day, since it's not actually a brainstorm, more of just a series of buckslips that I eventually put into my phone and compile into a list. And then I draw from that list when I want to add water and expand it into a full story.

But I said I'd share this with those in the Bougainvillea tier and above, and let the discussion unfold. These are very light notes, so I'm not spoiling anything, r...

Had time for a quick little Abigail warmup before work today.

Original Life +5 Test Page

Worked up a simple test page to get an idea of how I want these things to look. I ditched the inking step from the prior style, which always felt tedious to me.

Janie and Leo

Sometimes I'm in the mood to draw a pic with a lot of motion in it. This was something I sketched in front of the television and then decided to finish it up with color. The shading turned out a little dark, though. If I had to do it over, I'd definitely use a lighter shade.

Mock Poster

I did this for the heck of it, while thinking about the continuing athletic rivalry between Janie and Clarice. It also caused me to work up a quick and simple little title thingy, which I ended up using for the banner, here.

Cold Weather Sketches

Testing out more sketches with up-aged OL characters in the spare time, and then shading them up the next day. Unsure how much rebound Janie can get with hoodie sleeves, but oh well.

The Initial Idea...

This was the initial image I created for fun which got the inspirational juices flowing. I can't say the models are perfectly to scale as they should be. I don't think Angelica should be that tall as a teenager.

Nonetheless, off we go...
