When I first starting thinking about doing a "road trip" comic I considered having it take place in the 80's just because of the music and "Americana" themes. I ended up deciding against it because a modern comic is a little easier to navigate (less research) and because I wanted to write something with todays underlying societal influence.
However, if you haven't noticed yet-- Judas and Fletcher's character designs are very much influenced by the 80s.

As promised!! We have a character bio for Judas' mama. :) Settling on a name for her was kind of difficult but I think I'm pleased with this one. She's a no-nonsense kind of lady with equal parts temper and heart of gold.
Quite the contrast to Fletcher's mom, which I find fun. I bet the two of them would have a similar friendship to what Fletch and Judas have. X)

Here's something I haven't shared with you guys yet -- some of the thumbnails for TLLT. :)
Thumbnailing isn't something I used to do while making comics (I'd literally go page by page start to finish like a dumbass) and let me tell you-- its helped tremendously. Just getting initial ideas down on paper so that I have things to refer back to while drawing the actual panels makes my life so much easier. Plus, its fun to see what makes it into the comic vs what gets cut in the final....

This is one of my favorite of the recent updates, lmao. <3 There's both important plot elements here, Judas characteristics, and the kind of slap-stick comedy that I never knew I would enjoy drawing until I started TLLT.
