Psychoprotective 11

There are more of these than I thought there were.

-------------------

True to Miss Milla’s words, it took about four minutes for Tanya to be able to stand, and three more for the pins and needles sensation to fully fade. Which was enough time for a quick change of clothes and trip back to the cafeteria for lunch.

Agent Cruller’s cook persona didn’t seem notably affected by the work Tanya put in on his other self, but he also didn’t seem as twitchy ...

More stuff I didn't properly cross-post.

-----------------------

Tanya didn’t know what was worse. The idea that she had just narrowly escaped subsumption by a deranged manifestation of… what even was it? With only “not obvious” changes to their behavior while something else was in the driver’s seat of her body… Or that such a horrible fate was considered a “minor threat” on the scale of things that psychic tampering can accomplish. Then ag...

“Children, I have an announcement. The seven names on the torches, you know the ones, are forbidden to be spoken of. It upsets Mr. Cook and his associates to hear them.” Was the first thing said by Agent Nein when everyone gathered for lunch.

“As I said on the first day, he’s had a very rough time of things lately and we should be considerate of his feelings.” Miss ...

Finally getting around to making a collection for Psychoprotective. Main reason I didn't before was because I foolishly did not post every single snippet here when it was new. The first one was merely linked from the relevant poll, even. Fixing that now.

----------------------

This orphanage was smaller than the last one. Well, it wasn't called an orphanage, but a 'group home', but Tanya always preferred calling things as what they were.

At that thought, Tanya st...

The poll result is in. I'll start posting the fae stuff, along with a few stray stuff I never bothered posting here, on Sunday. So, prepare for a deluge of updates then. Sorry in advance.

Tracking down someone like Zoro was not a simple matter. What was simple was that Kuina wanted training.

“Ugh!” She grunted as she impacted the wall. Kayaku hooted in victory, flexing his muscles while swinging his shinai around with his tail.  View Post

Yeah, was in a rush this morning, but the chapter was rather unpolished anyway, so I fixed it up a bit before posting it here. enjoy. Next is more swordsman's adventure.

Bruce did a good job managing to avoid having too many time commitments as himself, cultivating a reputation for flightiness that was transitioned into a reputation as putting his children (Tanya) first and the company a distant second. If people thought that switching up his entire life...

Fae Bargain update/question

So I haven't been posting one of my commissions here for... no reason that I can remember.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/a-young-ladys-fae-bargain-youjo-senki-commission.1110946/

Here's the link, it has eight chapters.

Should I post the story here? On one hand, this pause would probably be a good time to organize the collection...

[Commission] Path to Living 1 [Worm/The Last Wish]

Forgot to post this here.

This is gonna be a short one, planned out to be 7 chapters of 2k words each. Whether I hit that mark accurately remains to be seen.

They had finally won. The golden man has died, and the monster they created to kill him has been dealt with. Fortuna breathed a sigh of relief as she looked over a sunrise at the beach. Where was she? An Earth somewhere. It didn't really matter.

Ironically, while the Humandrills could navigate the Grand Line just fine, albeit in a manner that could use improvements, they were completely hopeless in the Blues, where you couldn’t just go ‘point the ship in the direction of this Log Pose/Vivre Card’ and expect that to work.

In the Blues, you needed an actual education to navigate. Fortunately, she had one. “Adjust left by two!” She shouted at them…. Well, it was more of a roar and two hoots, but they g...

Lois Lane was something of a celebrity herself, among her circles. She’s won two Pulitzer Prizes, and was seen as something of a firebrand who speaks truth to power. From her public image, she was the reporter who truly believed that truth set people free… which was not always true.

Given her previous work, she definitely was here to see if she could tease something out of Bruce for the Business, Finance, or Technology parts of the Daily Planet, with the things one ...

Summon Perfect Warlady 2.01

Last weekly update before the one-month break. I'll be pausing the patreon's payment system for one month starting sometime this week.

Yes, I'll still be posting the Devil's Consultancy update on the 1st.

------------------

With a total upkeep that could be rounded up to twenty-five thousand shmuckers per turn, that meant every million shmuckers that she carted off was equivalent to forty turns of upkeep. She had to spend some juice to tabulate all of the shmuckers held in t...

So I know I've been writing a lot slower as of late. I think I might be burning out. So, allow me to make an announcement: I will be taking April off from my usual updates, and instead putting in some effort into chopping at the backlog.

To clarify, April will still provide updates for the public readers. Public readers will instead have zero weekly updates (i.e. Pyschoprotective/Summon Perfect Warlady) in May, although I'm not going to be exact with the weeks and such. ...

Did Tanya anticipate having to drop two hundred dollars on reasonably fashionable clothing for an old man this morning? No. Was it money well spent, particularly as she got to have the pleasure of burning his old clothing for him? Yes. Did she have the spare money to do it? Also yes. She’s going to get that money paid back once Ford’s financial situation is resolved, but that was just the principle of the thing. The military contracts for the training APES alone have already made her a mi...

[King Dracule Mihawk]

Ever since Shanks sold his arm for the future, Mihawk feared that he would never again find a worthy opponent to sharpen his steel against. It made him grow lazy and weak.

But then Tanya got into his mail. Being known as the World’s Greatest Swordsman came with it endless Kings, owners of arenas, military leaders, and world nobles clamoring for your time and attention.

Before, he ...

Within the next ten turns, every single member of the Royal Crown Coalition besides Yojo Mojo were destroyed by Charlsecomm’s gun-wielding Archons.

Every turn, Tanya duplicated herself cheaply and promoted the duplicate to Chief Warlord, and with the anti-gun measures they had put in place, the odds of Charlie successfully sacking Gobwin Knob remained small. Charlie probably knew this, because he didn’t try his luck.

This was mostly because Prince Jack was very well paid to ke...

Okay this is a bit short still, but making Ford's final mind was like pulling teeth. Not really happy with it, but I should move on.

Last she heard, the ‘Admiral’ persona has made his way to the parking garages, washing all the cars.

On arrival, she found her least favorite intern, Adam Gette. He had decided that today was warm enough to take off his shirt as he joined the Admiral persona in washing the cars. Ford’s nautical personali...

March poll and announcement

Okay, so here's the thing: I upgraded my computer this week, and now the thing won't even boot up properly. While it's not exactly impossible for me to get the psychoprotective chapter done in time, it's unlikely. So the next chapter will be posted when it's ready.

This chapter is weird, too long in parts and too short at the same time. Still, it's done. More cuteness/brattiness next chapter if it wins again.

Surprisingly, the alien invaders didn't take out all of Earth's Satellites as an opening move. Then again, his statement of ‘resist as much as you can' implied… hm. Batman’s rubbing off on her if she's psychoanalysing him as her first go-to.

With the majority of the column decrypted, it wasn’t quite at full strength, but it was about two-thirds the strength it started with. Transylvito’s golems and Jetstone’s battle bears were a loss, as were the siege towers that didn’t belong to Yojo Mojo, which were about 90% of them.

Marejois was, on the surface, the most lavish and extravagant city that Tanya had ever seen, and she got to visit Dubai once. Everything was designed by artists, where cost was no object. A royal palace writ large, sustained by the tax dollars of a global polity.

It was also filled with slaves. To those whose ambition grants them an awareness beyond sight, there was a malaise of suffering blanketing the gilded city, a choking miasma worse than any smog.

When they arrived, their Ki...

It makes perfect sense. Kidnap the head of the Psychonauts, swap the brains, and then use the Psychonaut’s own classified information precautions against them.

Every little discrepancy and oddity was reviewed, and she could see the lines where he bluffed. He clearly had done his homework at least a little bit, or else he would have been tripped up by Tanya’s unusually high security clearance compared to her rank.

How did he fake thinkerprints? Easy, he had a fake overlay made....

[Age 5]

Shimotsuki Kozaburo had a very distracting physical feature: His eyebrows were longer than most mustaches, and was styled like one, with long strands slicked to the side, and they bobbed when the man moved his head.

Why did he style his eyebrows this way? How did he manage to grow them out like that? The man was a swordsmith, shouldn’t he have burnt them off at some point?

After about three weeks of essentially slamming their head into the problem until it breaks, as had always worked before when training was concerned, Tanya decided that she needed a different approach.

First, they gave Shodai Kitetsu a new, fancy sheath. Then, they locked the sword inside it. If the damned sword was going to attack everything like a rabid dog, it gets a muzzle.

It was much more compliant when sheathed, and the fact that the golden inlays of the sheath was specific...

Ansom set off bringing two of the three Mecha stacks, which he led (Tanya used Date-a-mancy to augment their stack size), along with a set of eight siege towers that were impelled to have a small amount of their own move (6) by Elya. As the Mecha had 12 move, they could move 9 hexes per turn by using the mecha to push them the rest of the way.

Hopefully, Tanya’s drilling of those diggers for defensive fortifications won’t be a waste; the levels they got were nice, but Archons were d...

The gardener Ford faded away into another teleport, rejoining his other halves. Really, the multi-presence thing he has going on is actually quite fascinating, but it’s long been understood that insanity was an excellent way to allow for powerful psychic effects… without any way to use them productively.

“Wow, you got him.” Sam said. “Now what was this about Chloro thrills?”

“It’s a herbaphony fight club.” Tanya summarized. “The rulebook bloated up to be quite ...

Given how much of Unknown Justice's planned beats is being used by a young swordsman's adventure, I'm removing it from the list altogether.

Edit: Ack, accidentally added Summon Perfect Warlady as an option. I use mostly autocomplete to populate it, sorry. It will not win no matter how many votes it gets. It doesn't let me screw with the options after they're set. Did I leave anything out?

Tanya had thought that taking Richard in was a poor idea, given the risks afforded by Batman’s double life, and more relevantly to her, by giving her less time when not acting.

Fortunately, Richard wasn’t quite old enough to properly comprehend what it meant when he sees a five year old girl and is told that she was less than one year old. So he was still a source of endless amusement, and all Tanya had to do is give him that heavily practiced vacant stare, smiling as she pretended ...
