Never thought I'd ever be at anything long enough to do a "remake" of an existing piece of work but here I am. A few weeks ago I was trying to come up with a way to work a certain conversation between Casey and Royce into the story, then it hit me that it would have fit perfectly after the original sex scene that served as a sort of beta test for this whole comic, In the Kitchen. Hope you guys like what's new and I can't wait to keep working on this chapter!

Classic Lara wins the vote this week! I'll admit I didn't feel like her ripped shorts made a lot of sense personally. But I just did a torso pic with Juliette recently, and also it just didn't seem like Lara Croft without the shorts so I kept them in. Oddly enough my favorite thing about this one is how the bodily fluids turned out. I feel like I'm getting better at them, and I'll take small victories whenever I can.

So I figured I'd start doing the covers before the chapter starts like a normal person instead of just dumping them in somewhere in the middle like I have been. And since a cover is just a single illustration that isn't nearly as time consuming as a full comic page, I thought I'd use the extra time this week to rework the art style a little.

As usual I'm experimenting a bit here. The theme of what I'm trying to achieve visually with my artwork in 2016 is more of a "painted" look.  So here I've tried out a bit more of a realistic approach to drawing come. (Baby steps lol.) Let me know what you guys think of it if you would, I would love some feedback.

As for Juliette here, I really wish her game, Lollipop Chainsaw, had been a bigger commercial success.  Not that it terribly deserved to be, gameplay-wise it was ...

Veronica beats Betty in this week's vote with ease! Looks like the voters around here prefer brunettes lol.  Anyhow lately it seems these Monday sketches have become sort of my testing ground for tricky poses and angles. I could certainly use the practice, anatomical foreshortening is an area I really need to work on.  Still messing with thin lines and colored line art here too, I still feel like it needs some work. I really miss the contrast you only get with black lines.

Juli and Claire

So here's an example of another style that relies on line work a little bit more. The change being that instead of using a pen tool I'm using a pencil. It's subtle but this gives me a little more control over my lines, allowing some to all but disappear just by pressing a little lighter on the stylus. Personally I like how it looks and this will likely be how I draw Switch starting in chapter six. This is also my new way of painting hair and I'm kind of in love with it.

I look at a lot of photo reference when I draw. But even then I've found that a low angle face is hard to get looking right. One wrong line and the girl seems to have a pig nose lol.
