Added 2016-01-22 06:38:36 +0000 UTCSo I figured I'd start doing the covers before the chapter starts like a normal person instead of just dumping them in somewhere in the middle like I have been. And since a cover is just a single illustration that isn't nearly as time consuming as a full comic page, I thought I'd use the extra time this week to rework the art style a little.
Long story short? That endeavor took even longer than a comic page would have. This cover was nearly done and then started over from scratch twice as I obsessed over how I could change up the look of Switch. In the end I settled on this style, which involves drawing the lines all on one layer, sketching and softly erasing much the same as I did back when I still worked with pencils and paper. It's too early to call how well it will work in the actual comic, but I'm really excited and can't wait to try it out next week. :)

You know so far in the comic very little of the dialog has been written down beforehand. Since drawing takes so much longer than writing, I usually have plenty of time to go over everything in my head thoroughly long before it ever shows up in the story. But this chapter is an important one and I needed time to actually write a script. Posting a cover this week gave me the breathing room I needed to get it done.
