Full Reveal: Red Snapper in "Animated"

My in-home animator just finished this very late last night. I hope you enjoy this as your full reveal treat for December!

The process for this was interesting, because Mr. Snapper storyboarded the entire thing so we could focus on getting the exact shots he needed to tell the story. He animated the entire thing. :)

Behind the Scenes: My Hall of Fame

How are we at the end of 2021 already?

I'm ramping up some other projects but they aren't in a sharing state, so here's a little tour of my little hallway of fame.

Full Reveal coming soon...

The art department is still hard at work on this month's Full Reveal. It's really fun, but it won't be ready until late tonight or tomorrow. If your patronage at this level expires before it's up, I'll send you a private link to the video when it's ready.

In the meantime, catch this bit of nonsense from yesterday. The first 90 seconds are meh, but it gets ridiculous after that.

And now for something completely different...

Vimeo killed my unlisted video last night, just two or three hours after I uploaded it.

This is something completely different. Yep. No similarities at all. The first minute and a half are very important footage of my messy showgirl closet. The rest of the video is mildly important stuff and things.

I guess I should've titled it "stuff and things"?

This is hilarious.

This may be one of the most ridiculous things I've done.

That says a lot.

As the art department works on the full reveal for this month, here's a fun little outtake from the last Tub Tales. When the camera keeps rolling, it sometimes gets really silly.

This year has flown by! I also realized I need to get something for traction in the bottom of my tub; it takes the strong arms of Mr. Snapper to help get me out of the tub without me slipping!

I'm working on a project that's very dear to me. :)

December Already?

This year feels like it's flown past. I think everyone is still feeling out the pandemic and live entertainment. I'm glad to have the in-person and virtual gigs I've had this year, and I'm glad I've had you to entertain.

I'm winding the year down with finishing the gifted fans and working on choreography for the new number. I'm also planning for more photo shoots in the new year. This year was largely a bust on the photo front. Of course, I didn't really have many new acts to shoot anyway.

I'm finally unpacked enough to start working on my podcast, and I'm so excited about it. The theme is near and dear to my heart. :)

Behind the Scenes: Making Fan-cy

A few months ago, my dear friend Vivienne Vermuth went into semi-retirement in the world of burlesque. She gifted me with a set of fans that needed a little TLC. The color is good for me, and she knew I'd take care of them.

The feathers need a good steaming, but that will happen last. There was a broken acrylic stave so I have to rebuild them.

This is the underside of one of the old acrylic fan staves. It's V-shaped with each stave holding 5 feathers: 2 coral and 3 mint green. The staves are lovely but one of them broke. It's only a matter of time before the others break because of how they're made.

I ordered some fancy powder-coated metal staves from Donna Touch a couple weeks ago. Metal staves are a little more expensive, but they're also a bit lighter yet more durable. She'd already designed a 3-prong stave that would do the trick. They arrived right before Thanksgiving. I love the color.

Here's the underside of a completed stave. I hate using wire to attach feathers, but I don't want to use thick thread and secure it with glue. I'm knocking out a stave a day (when there's no hockey) since I don't have a performance on the agenda for these yet.

Once I've finished adding feathers to the staves, I have to bolt them together, string them so they stay open perfectly, steam the feathers, and buy a proper storage case for them. I can't wait to have them reach their full feathery potential.

I had a hard time finding the words. We're improving production values on full reveals! And I'm curious about your thoughts on an online show.

Full Reveal: Crocodile Rock

This was a lot of fun. Mr. Snapper and I came up with this act back in 2008 and people love singing along. I was asked to shoot the act for an upcoming virtual show. It's challenging to be a camera crew of two while both appearing in the act.

The version for the show doesn't have the sexy opening credits or the full reveal fun at the end. This is just for you. :)

Thanks to my friends who sent video for the sing-along part.

November Thrills!

Hair and makeup by Vivienne Vermuth, photo by Dynamite Dames.

At the top of October, I had two November gigs. I wound up filling in on a show for someone affected by the hurricane, and that slid me out of one November show. The other show was postponed until further notice. Such is life.

There are positive sides to this. I got the service line replaced at my house. I got my flu shot and COVID booster Thursday, not worried about being able to move this weekend. (I was also sick at the end of October.)

And I'm shooting tomorrow for an online show!

My winter months are going to be spent moving in, working on new acts, and going through old acts to figure out what to do with them. Maybe I can make sense of my sewing room and showgirl closet!

Full Reveal: Daffodils

This month is a different kind of full reveal. I get physically naked regularly. This act is about innocence and giving yourself over to someone, opening yourself up. It's hard not to smile throughout an act for me. Pretty happy about how this one turned out. Big Fish always brings a tear to my eye, and I was delighted to create this act.

Mr. Snapper did all of the awesome editing and original artwork. Enjoy.

Yes, I'm in a tub of balls again. Home ownership. This was also at the beginning of my cold. (Negative COVID test.)

Behind the Scenes: A Delicate Balance

Mr. Snapper and I have decades of stage experience. We've produced, written, directed, and performed in many works throughout our years. There's an interesting challenge that we've faced from all sides: a small audience.

I produced a show in North Hollywood for some months a decade ago. I thought people in the Valley (home of porn) would love to come out to a small theater for Sunday night burlesque. The show wasn't so late that it messed with making it to the office in the morning, and not so early that people weren't ready for entertainment.

I couldn't fill the house, no matter what I tried. (I found out that the stage manager for the theater was hiding my promotion when I wasn't there, but that wasn't the only factor for the small houses.) Turns out that Valley people were family people, and they weren't turning out for tassels on a Sunday night. It didn't matter how much I spent on Facebook ads or how many friends I comped, I couldn't fill the place. It was frustrating as a producer and a performer.

No matter how many people are in the audience, you still have to give them your best.

Mr. Snapper and I ran into a challenge as a hosting pair for a couple of small audiences. You want to give them the best, most entertaining show you can. You also have to acknowledge that the show is a bit more intimate.

Where is the balance? How much intimacy and acknowledgment is enough for the audience before they feel singled out and uncomfortable at a burlesque show? This is something I'm trying to resolve. Any thoughts?

So Much Yellow!

From backstage at Viva Dallas Burlesque's Burton Burlesque show.

I debuted my first Burton act earlier this month, a tribute to Big Fish. That film always makes me and my husband tear up. I did a very vulnerable, innocent act connected to the daffodil scene, and I bought the above dress for curtain call because it fit the theme perfectly.

I bought an off-the-rack dress from Amazon and made some adjustments so it worked for the act.

I also had some fantastic fake daffodils, also thanks to Amazon.

This month I'm wrapping up a new act with the green triangle bra and panel skirt I made last year. I have the opportunity to perform it in Ft. Worth early next month.

Next weekend, Mr. Snapper and I are hosting two shows in Ft. Worth. We enjoy hosting together. I'm also working on a new skill that we might be able to bring to the stage next year. Gotta work those things in around home ownership fun!

Backstage Hello from Viva Dallas Burlesque

Here's a short howdy from backstage earlier this month. I hopped onto the bill when a performer from New Orleans had to bow out because of the hurricane.

A curious side of this burlesque thing is how it's been impacted by supply chain issues. I jibber jabber about how it's affected me with my latest act.

Full Reveal: Deconstructed Classic Burlesque

I decided to go totally bare bones for this month's full reveal so you could see the act without the bells and whistles. The act is pretty involved, so it was fun to do it like this.

Behind the Scenes: Spreadsheets for Showgirls

This is the unsexy part of the gig. Last Wednesday I was called in to replace a performer affected by the hurricane. Each act has plenty of pieces and I didn't want to forget anything. I have tabs filled with packing lists for some of the bigger gigs for the past few years. I print them out and use them as a checklist. Sometimes I mark things off or jot down other info. I had to replace my panties and pasties for one act because the panties are somewhere in a packed box.

It gets better. This landed on some glass condensation before I got the photo.

This is how my show day schedule often works out. I hadn't performed these acts for a few months, and that was before the move. I gave myself extra time to prepare those acts. I also had some other writer work to knock out, taking the place of a potential nap.

A lot more activity happens the closer we get to curtain, which is why I stopped taking notes at 6:45pm. After that, it's all preparing to take the stage, taking the stage, doing nonsense, and getting ready for more nonsense.

I don't always break down the full day's timeline. If I have two performances per show, I'll list the order of tasks to change for the next act so I don't forget anything. (Yakety Sax is so complicated that I have to break it down.) If I have two different shows, I'll list my between-show tasks so I don't forget anything. That might mean taking the time to eat something, putting ice on a sore joint, or selling merchandise between shows.

It's a little more of the nitty in the nitty-gritty of performer life.

Topless Vlog #92

Patreon doesn't like the link so I have to embed it. Boo.

I can't believe I've done 92 of these. Many were casualties of YouTube and DailyMotion bans, but I've still recorded and shared 92 topless vlogs over the years!

I still love my new space.

Full Reveal: Temptation

As I mention in the video, it's been a while since I've performed this act. I left my hair wild and free for some hair play. The dogs wanted to make cameos. The costume needs serious help if I'm going to put this back in the repertoire.

Behind the Scenes: New Studio

Here's a peep at my home studio! So excited to have a dedicated space. It'll be even better when the boxes are gone. :)

We finished moving out of the apartment on Saturday, which means I only have one residence! I also have some in-person gigs ahead, and I'm super stoked.

This doesn't mean we're done moving it. However, it means that I could access my studio to shoot this past weekend. SO HAPPY!

Hello, Little Black Book!

Happy August! I'm excited to reveal my appearance in Bachelor Pad Magazine's Little Black Book, featuring photos of many models from the magazine. You can see photos of me shot by my friend Jeff Fuller-Freeman. You can also see lots of other fabulous models who have graced the pages of BPM over the past 14 years.

I had high hopes of hitting the stage this month, but moving is so hard! We have 2-3 more carloads of stuff at the apartment, and the smallest bit of cleaning left to do there. Meanwhile, there are boxes everywhere in the house. Unpacking is a slow process, especially when we need to replace bookcases, dressers, and other storage solutions.

The studio is getting some love over the weekend so I can shoot in it next weekend. I love the space, and it's going to be even better once some of the boxes are moved out of it.

I hope you are well and staying cool this summer!

My First Nude Beach

My You Like Me All the Way patrons got to see this last month as an exclusive. Shot in 2004, I was a fussy thing who just wanted to get naked. I now have more freckles, fewer moles, and a deeper voice. But I'm still very much pro nudism.

I hope you enjoy it.

This is my tub! Squeaky clean and full of bubbles. Moving is quite the process. Once my sewing room is unpacked, I can get back to the random mint green costume that matches my new (to me) fans.

Back to reality!

Moving into a house is exhausting! We're very happy here, and I'm looking forward to shooting my first Tub Tales in my forever home this week.

We still have boxes everywhere, but I was able to take go-go class in my studio space. The dogs really want to be a pack so they insisted on being in the same room. This is the opposite angle of the last image I shared. The studio is right inside the front door so I have the right floor for dancing.

I'm very naked-faced from a busy day of moving and dancing. I promise I have actual eyelashes; they're just blonde.

Almost there!

This is going to be my home studio. Moving over the next few weeks but we start sleeping in the new house this weekend. I'll be back to dancing soon, enjoying the new space. I'll share pics when it becomes a useful space.

I also got my first piece of mail– glitter!

This weekend might be my first bath there. More shenanigans to come!
