Last Tub Tales in this apartment! So excited to move, so ready to be done with all of it. I also spill a little dirt. :)

Full Reveal: My First Nude Beach

This has taken a LONG time to put together. We shot footage back in '04, before mole removal and before my voice deepened. It was shot on Digital8, and processing the footage took a backseat over the years. Mr. Snapper was working on editing it a couple summers ago when his laptop was stolen out of his hands at a Starbucks. But here we are now.

This is your treat this month. Late next month, I'll share with other patrons. In August, it'll be available for general public viewing. And now, enjoy the adventures of a 20-something pre-Snapper!

Are we there yet?

Lipstick on my teeth from my last gig where I played the kazoo. What a crazy life!

I'm two days from the due date of the appraisal on what I hope will be my house. If all goes well, I'll be a homeowner on June 30th. This is bananas!

I don't have any gigs booked for the rest of the summer so we can move. The house is in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas.

We were going to turn a giant bedroom into my studio, but we decided to use the living room for the studio space. Better flooring for photos and a smarter use of the space. Of course, I will have amazing costume and prop storage in this huge closet.

There's enough room for my burlesque stuff and a little podcasting setup. I'm pretty excited.

Until it's all finalized, I'm in limbo.  However, my hope is that I'll shoot the last Tub Tales for this particular location over the weekend.

Once I'm moved, I can get back to photoshoots!

Full Reveal - Shower Thoughts

We've hit a delay in this month's release, which is my nude beach documentary. That means you get this taste of reality. A peek behind the curtain, if you will. ;)

A little treat for you

We may have a house! We've been seeing places all over town. Our offer was accepted for a nice place in Oak Cliff that has the perfect room for a studio. The bathtub isn't sexy, but it is new. This afternoon we meet the home inspector and spend three glorious hours measuring and exploring the space while they do actual work.

The hunt for a home with exactly what we need has been bananas. Thanks for your patience this month. Here's a little treat from the debut of the Mandalorian act from earlier this month. I should have something that's very full reveal for those of you at that level tomorrow. :)

Finding the needle in a haystack time

This month has been bonkers. We're actively on the hunt for our own home, and the housing market is bananas. Most places are going above list price, and a number of homes don't have what we need.

I don't mind renting studio space, but I'd rather have a shooting space permanently set up in my own home. It makes everything much easier, especially on heavy shoot days. I need a good tub for Tub Tales. In truth, I'd love a tub like we had for shooting in a hotel last month.

This tub was awesome. Maybe I just need one half that size. I want it separate from the daily shower.

We saw a house today that had the perfect studio space. Big enough for shooting, awesome tub, mirrored walls for dance classes, lots of natural lighting.

Absolutely huge and awesome. Since Mr. Snapper is taller than I am, this shows how much space the studio would have. But there were way too many other problems with the house for it to make sense. Water damage, mold in a closet, small holes in some of the walls. Too much hassle with a price tag that's too high.

We're still looking and it's crazy. I've been told we'll find something perfect when the time is right. I hope that time is soon so shooting is a breeze!

We shot something a couple weeks ago that Mr. Snapper will edit next month, and we got to enjoy a giant tub as part of the shoot. I have to say I look pretty cute. (Not everyone likes seeing themselves on video. I'm an exception. I like to see myself on video.)

Life is pretty odd. Also, I'm tired. And, I'm grateful to have a new act as a distraction.

Behind the Scenes: Surprise Mandalorian

Remember how I said I don't have last-minute bookings so much these days? Well, that's not entirely accurate. I put my Greedo costume in storage at the beginning of the month since I'd heard nothing about a Star Wars show this year and didn't see a casting call. (It's still pandemic times with limited people backstage, and I wasn't mad about it at all.)

I got a call two weeks ago to fill in on the Star Wars show. I had to break out Greedo and create a new Mandalorian act, if at all possible. Knowing me, it's possible.

I had to kick it into high gear to assemble the most important components. I got a 3D-printed Mando helmet and Mr. Snapper started to build a Grogu marionette. That's what's been up every non-working moment since I got the call, and it's going to be the focus of our time (outside of a shoot this Thursday).

I made pauldrons (shoulder armor) out of foam. I made the clan emblem with hot glue. Everything was sprayed with plasti-dip. I also made matching gauntlets. If I have time, I'll make a "cod piece" to attach to existing panties. With the short runway to the act's debut, I bought off-the-rack pieces from Amazon to wear.

Meanwhile, Mr. Snapper has been sketching, modeling, and building a Grogu marionette. I'm luck to have someone who can help me problem solve this whole thing and be my puppeteer.

This morning I painted the helmet after plenty of primering and sanding. It has to be ready for rehearsals by Tuesday. SO MUCH EXCITEMENT!

Armor is painted as well. I've invested so much in this act so far that I'm probably going to buy 3D-printed armor and do it up right at a later date.

This has been a very exciting process, and it's happening at a breakneck speed. Two weeks after I was first asked to do the act, I'll have a custom marionette and a complete Mandalorian stripper outfit.

Oh yeah, and Greedo choreography will be mostly reworked.

Slowly getting back to normal

Makeup and hair by Vivienne Vermuth. Photo by Mr. Snapper. Hose from my local fire department.

I'm fully vaccinated. Mr. Snapper gets his second vaccine next Sunday. We're planning our first photo shoot outside of quarantine for later this month, and we may try to squeeze one in when we travel next month.

As we emerge from the pandemic cocoon, we're also preparing for a late summer home purchase. This means packing up costumes and props we won't use before the move. I'm really hoping to finish the green costume and get to work on the dinosaur before then.

I'm working on tidying up the choreography for my Greedo number. I'm not sure that it will be publicly performed before the move, but I want to give it a better final reveal.

I'm taking a break between sorting and packing things that can go to storage for now so I can spend some time working on my fancy new panties.

Behind the Scenes - The Wild Ride

This month was all about the green screen. For Red Snapper's Wild Ride Mach II, I wanted to add a pop of complementary color. I had reds, oranges, and gold, and Mr. Toad had a blue bowtie. The blue bowtie didn't work with this outfit, so I opted for a blue boa instead. It also helps my eyes pop a little more. We tested my peach boa and an aqua boa, but this one looked best and didn't have too much green tint to it. I got a little stupid with the boa in this very short clip, but it's to be expected from me.

The curtain to my left is a beautiful blue green. When Mr. Snapper threw the digital background over the green screen footage, it picked up the green of the curtain and added some faded hell there.

Full Reveal - Red Snapper's Wild Ride

In my last post, I mentioned the green screen and recording this act. We shot a little extra for you because it was hilarious. This isn't the final version that will be in the Burlesqueland show. We have more prologue and footage from a past live show attached to that. But this is the only naked one. Enjoy.

Old act, new tricks!

Oh hai, March!

After four years of Texas living, I'm back in Peepshow Menagerie's "Burlesqueland" next weekend. I was asked to reprise Red Snapper's Wild Ride, but there were some complications.

Truck space was limited when we left Los Angeles and we had too much stuff. We knew we'd have to get rid of some things, so I retired some numbers before the move. We ditched my custom-made (foam core) Mr. Toad car, the velcro-closure costume I modified to wear over the suspenders that held the car in place, and some of the standees. We kept a devil prop and another standee to make a shadow box with some photos. (We still haven't gotten a chance to do that.)

I had to come up with an act from scratch using costume pieces I had on hand.

I performed in front of a green screen in my newly carpeted home office, and Mr. Snapper turned that into a beautiful hells cape, complete with digital devils. For last month's full reveal, he monkeyed around with some light rotoscoping.

I'm really excited because this adds more stuff to the entertaining toolkit. :)

Full Reveal: Delirious 2021

First, the pasties for this act absolutely refused to stay on when I was getting dressed to record. Enjoy.

Second, Mr. Snapper wanted to try out some new editing software on the video and has spent a chunk of the week learning how to use it for a non-green screen setting. Turns out that it's a bit of a nightmare. You'll see some samples of what can be done, but the entire video doesn't have the full treatment. We're hoping to use this for my Burlesqueland act.

I performed this act at Viva's just a few days after our power returned and the apartment was flooded from the broken fire suppression system. I didn't get time to rechoreograph for that. I'm hoping to take some time to do that soon, when the world is calm.

Oh, hi! I'm still alive.

Makeup and hair by LaDonna Stein, photo by Through the Looking Glass.

It's been a rough go in Dallas for the past week, which means I've been pretty quiet. If you've caught national news in the States, you may be aware of the extreme temperatures and hard winter week in Texas. It was -8 a couple days ago and it's supposed to be 75 next Wednesday.

We knew cold was coming. We dripped our faucets and stocked our cupboards. I pulled out my snow boots and long underwear. We spent our Valentine's Day watching television without a care in the world.

We spent many hours without power on the coldest days, and the apartment got down to 47 degrees. No power, no internet. We had water, clothing layers, and plenty of food.

Power was fully restored two days ago, which is when the fire suppression pipe above our home office burst and showered a couple rooms with water. My studio was safe, but now my studio is serving as the home office.

Things are crazy, but we're okay. We've been fairly quiet as we've been addressing the snowpocalypse challenges.

Nonetheless, there will be more new nonsense soon. I have a show tomorrow night and have to shift gears from indoor survivalist to showgirl.

One year older!

Outtake photo from a Chris Beyond photoshoot in my Los Angeles living room some years ago.

I turned over the biological odometer yesterday. I spent about an hour looking back at old Facebook and Instagram photos, smiling as I remembered different places I've been and people I've met.

I'm proud to be here, doing what I do when I can do it, and to share it with folks like you. Much love to all of you.

Behind the Scenes - Crustacean Fun

When we were in the studio, we did something fun because there was no live audience. We shot a master of each act and then he followed me around with the camera for a second take. Of course, I had to get re-dressed in between. I didn't want to take the entire corset and bra off to get re-dressed, which means Mr. Snapper had to get his hands dirty. :)

Back in go-go class!

I’m trying to get my shit together after a lazy end of 2020, which means I’m working on gigs, costumes, and study. I had a gig last weekend (which was awesomely fun) so I couldn’t return to class until today.

I got a portable dance floor in December to save my knees some wear and tear from doing the twist on carpet. It makes a huge difference for both go-go and ballet.

I’m thinking about reworking my Greedo number and adding more shape with some go-go dancing. I need to tidy up that act a bit.

Thanks, pandemic.

Since a performer for tonight's show tested positive for COVID last week, I was called in as a replacement. (She's doing okay.) The show has sold out at 1/3 capacity for the venue, only six performers, masks galore unless performing, no curtain call, no social interaction. I feel pretty safe.

I'm happy to perform. My last in-person gig was February 28th, and I did one online show last summer. I'm also happy that the performer I'm replacing is doing okay.

The acts I'm doing tonight were booked for February instead of January. As soon as I knew I was booked for February, I started the conditioning I could do to prepare for these monstrously beautiful fans. They're too big to really work with in my apartment. My regular studio rental now requires a four-hour booking instead of a single hour. (I can break those hours up, but it's a bit of a hassle if I don't do at least two hours at a time. The max I can do with these fans is one hour.) I didn't have the time booked at Dallas Pin Up last weekend to take my fans and work with them.

The show is tonight. This week has been busy. I have to make do.

Last night I went to the apartment complex gym in a mask (as required) and ran the act twice. There was enough space and a mirrored wall. I just wish I had a little more time.

My belly dance teacher told us to keep a smile on our faces so people are less likely to notice any choreography mistakes. I'm going to be smiling a lot tonight. :)

Everything's coming up oddball!

Happy New Year!

I've crossed the 13-year mark for professional burlesque, which is exciting. I just got word that I'm going to be published as a model again. (Details to come.)

I'm booked for an online show later this month. We shot the act over the weekend and did some fun stuff that we can't do in an in-person show. I'll share that with you after the show is done.

I was booked for an in-person show at Viva's Lounge in February, but one of the performers for this coming weekend has COVID so I'm swapping in to take her place. I'm not on the poster and I haven't had time to rent a big studio just to practice with my giant fans. (I expected to have a month to go in on weekends.) COVID is strange and unpredictable, and that's why I'm performing this weekend. Sounds like the affected performer is okay so far. With 14 days of quarantine, she won't be free until some time next week.

These are some strange times. I should probably have a couple acts at the ready to hop in for shows like this. I'm working on getting footage of my acts for online shows.

The important thing is that we all become more agile with the challenges of the modern world.

I hope you're safe and healthy.
