Hello loyal patrons. I had a productive weekend working on Calibration Error.
Most of my time was spent of the card game. I'm shooting for a release of TF Card Battle as a seperate game this upcoming weekend. This release has balancing and bug fixes for the base game as well as laying the groundwork for the upcoming "story mode".

First off, the game's got a logo now.
Secondly, I'd like to let you know what's happening with development and the release schedule.
1: TF Card Battle released as a separate game.
I will be detaching the card game from Calibration Error. This release will feature bug updates and balance tweaks, but won't contain any major new features. Development of the card game will continue in the future, more news about that to come.

Over the past few days I've been working on converting the game over to Renpy. It's been pretty fun, but a lot of work. I think it will be worth it in the end however.
Here's part of a sprite sheet for Emily. Unlike in 2D, slight expression changes require an entire render. Because of that, the cost of dramatically changing poses between sprites is lessened overall in 3D. I'm trying to take advantage of this to make expressions more dynamic.

I made a demo of a Renpy version for kicks. I figured I have so many art assets it wouldn't be much work. In the end it was more effort than I thought, but I think it looks alright.
The HTML version is still the main version of the project, but I might develop this one in tandem. I'm not really happy with how the HTML version looks visually and it's very dialogue heavy already so the visual novel format fits.
However lots of the art was not made with this kind of game in mind...

Update .71 is out, this release is bug fixes, mostly for the card game.
Speaking of the card game, I feel like while people are enjoying it, it distracts from the story rather than adding to it. I'm considering taking it out of the game and releasing it as a separate product.
If I do this, the plan would be to develop the card game separately from Calibration Error and add new features over time. I have ideas for a story mode that would use the cards in your deck to tell a dynamic ...
