Michael's Story, ch 1?

Hey everyone!  This was my first effort with dictation.

I'm not sure if I will continue this story or not.  If I do, it'll have to wait until I finish SOO3 and Delvers LLC 5, but I wanted to share this with you.

Perhaps I will keep writing it in my free time for fun.  Who knows?  I have lots of story ideas and this kind of just happened, but it was fun to write and I feel like it'd be a commercial success. :P

I'm trying out dictation again.

I've chilled a bit on Amazon wish lists, both because it makes me feel like a wannabe influencer and because the last 2 years have been pretty shitty.  I basically only put up a wish list if some of you suggest that I do.

Anyway, a while back, one of my wonderful Patreon supporters, who might even be reading this right now, gifted me with Dragon.  Dragon is a program for speech to text dictation.

I gave it a shot, but it just didn't work for me.  There were too ma...

SOO2, Airship Privateers is live!

Honestly, this has been kind of a sleeper series for me.  It didn't do really well at first, but I'll be damned if it hasn't become something of a cult favorite among fans.

Thank you all for your support!

News: WIP updates for Jan

Hey everyone!

I'm going to be working some more on Apocalypse Cultivation 2, starting work on SOO 3, and working more on Delvers LLC 5 in January.

My plan is to do chapter for all three stories, see what comes faster, and roll with that one more than the others until books start being done.

The plan for the year is to get all three of these books written by Q2, 2022.

Merry Christmas!

The training program generated two opponents.  Trent quickly killed them both and they slowly faded to nothing.  He moved his wrist, dipping the tip of his rapier and rolled his neck.  It felt good to be training again.

This was a fencing program that Trent had used when he’d just started playing SOO.  He could adjust the difficulty and number of his enemies, their weapons, the terrain, and other environmental hazards.

Writing in the woods

Probably not the most flattering picture in the world, but oh well :P

Today I went hiking with Melli as part of an experiment, trying new things to battle seasonal depression.  It kind of worked.  But getting out in the woods is often its own reward, too.

So right now I'm busy trying to finish up this chapter and edit.  If I don't put it up tonight, it'll be tomorrow.

My plan was to write 1 or 2 chapters a day...but I'm not sure that's going to happe...

Solid book recommendation

Tonight I need to finish up going through the last edit of Apocalypse Cultivation before it heads to the editor, and try to get another chapter of SOO2 done.

This year has sucked.  Not only do I need to figure out my AC/heating units replacement, now one of my doors has started to rot.  Inside.  Need the replaced too.

Sigh.

Anyway, some good news!  I saw that my buddy Luke Chmilenko had recently recommended a new book.  Since then, I've che...

Secret of the Old Ones 2, ch 3

As usual, Trent thought the Administration Building looked sort of like a church.  The meeting hall was built like a worship center, just a lot smaller.  Instead of a long table like most meeting rooms he’d seen before, the chairs were arranged in a semicircle, amphitheater-style.

When the entire team sat down, they barely took up any room compared to the size of the room.

To one side of the room stood Florinia, the general liaison from Vermillion.  She was lookin...

The edit on this one is not the best, but I wanted to get it out there so I can stop messing with it and get to posting the more exciting stuff I've been writing. lol

Trent knocked on Steve’s door.  “I’m gonna get something to eat.  Wanna come?”

“I dunno.  Are you going to stab me with something IRL like you just did in-game?”

Vale sighed.  “It’s not my fault you’re so shitty at PVP.”

More chapters to come. :) I am actually writing this pretty fast.  Once I have gone through the last of the Apocalypse Cultivation edit, it'll be even faster.

Vale dePardon squared off against Bartholomew Holstings in a rented dueling chamber, a popular feature in Secret of the Old Ones.  Sword point forward, he stood in an Italian rapier fencing stance, weight on his back foot.  His current costume was flashy, but also practical.

Jake Story (Apocalypse Cultivation) 2, ch 4

Jake crossed his arms in complete darkness and grimly pondered his options.  He had a total of 3 points left to use in the Eternal Struggle Reward System.  That was his only real option to survive his current situation.  He was in a predicament.

His storage ring was full of earth weapons that wouldn’t do jack and shit to the feisty tiger that wanted to eat him.  And he believed there were probably more powerful demon beasts in the mountains his master had lived in....

Chapter 4 should be up in just a few minutes.

--------------------------------

Getting back into the reward menus didn’t take Jake very long.  Now that he had a better understanding of how the system worked, using his renown points didn’t seem too difficult.  However, he got a surprise when he mentally chose to view the rewards themselves.  Instead of a list of items like he’d been envisioning, there were...boxes.

The boxes were listed numerically. &nb...

Workflow updates and Finished alternate art of Jake from Apocalypse Cultivation

This is definitely more of a fantasy feel to Jake's look.  What do you think?

Also, updates:

SOO background is almost done.  One reason I put this story off for so long was all the background work that I needed to on spreadsheets.  So...almost there!

I have a couple more chapters done of Apocalyse Cultivation 2.  I've been kind of thinking about waiting until I have about 5 chapters and dropping them all at once.  Waiting sucks, but I've noticed m...

Hey everyone, sorry for the wait!

I get seasonal depression every year, and this year it seems worse than ever.  Luckily, I got some great advice from some of you all in Discord, and I'm dealing with it.

Chapter releases will slow down now, but I'm still plugging away. :)

I still have a bunch of stuff to do for the release of the first book, too.

Random thoughts about writing (more meant for other writers) and some advice for readers

(I'm going to add this to Facebook, too.  I don't add most of my Patreon stuff to FB, but I felt maybe I should make this one public)

---

Before becoming an author, I was not aware that some readers could get author names wrong (not misspellings, like the wrong author entirely) for different series so often.

After the last couple years, I've decided it's probably a product of KU reading culture.  This may be why I never really noticed before becoming an author. &nb...

Series: New sketch of Jake. 1

I have great news!  I've heard back from the artist I commissioned to sketch Jake, and got a first pass back.

The sword is obviously not right yet.  This feels more like what some of you thought Jake might look like.  Any suggestions for the artist?

State of the ship

Hey everyone!

This month has sucked for my productivity.  I've gotten some stuff done, but not nearly enough.

I was hoping to have another chapter done before explaining any of this, and I should have another up today, but I kind of think that this should be its own post.  Putting big downers on chapters feels like it weighs them down, and I'd rather the comments on chapters be about the chapters, not about my  shenanigans.

So anyway, there are three major ...

I haven't actually named this book yet.  :P

Sorry for the delay.  I've been taking care of some personal stuff and plotting out this book as well as Secret of the Old Ones 2.  It's been a lot of work.

I should start posting chapters of SOO2 soon.

As always, thank you for your patience.

Jake's Story (Apocalypse Cultivation) ENDING, ch 36

When Jake became aware of his surroundings again, he was sitting in a wooden chair in some sort of log cabin.  His body felt incredibly strange.  A new sensation crackled through his brain like lightning, but was somehow elusive.  When he tried to look inward and figure out what it was, it vanished.

His energy was all over the place in general.  Not only did he feel different internally, something seemed to be weighing on him, too.  He distantly remembered Morri...

He woke up on a bed of weird, fluffy moss near a pool of still water, its surface like smoky glass.  A weeping willow with white limbs stood nearby, and bushes ringed it like silent soldiers, the edges of their leaves glittering in the dimness.  Even from a distance, Jake could tell they were razor sharp.

Grass lined the pond, all in dark colors.  A  thick forest surrounded the little glen with the pond.  There were no noises coming from the surroundings.  ...

The new day was still dark but growing brighter.  Jake slowed to a stop and sat.  The slowly rising sun was good, but he had a problem beyond just the ragged and torn condition of his body.

Where the hell is Trosist? He thought.  He’d lost track of his quarry a while ago, and his supernatural senses weren’t very helpful now, either.  Not only was the vampiric mage already slippery as an eel, senses-wise, Jake was running so low on energy that he couldn...

Jake ran through the mall.  He killed two more Protectors and was not exactly subtle about it.  He even shot one of them with a pistol he’d pulled from his storage ring.  In his past life, he’d never been lucky enough to own a H&K Mark 23.  It was nice to have one now, but he was also amused by the fact he’d needed to literally die first.

This chapter took me a while.  At one point, I decided to change something minor about the ending of the first book, and something I'd written here would not have made sense, so I had to rewrite half of it.

Okay, this is it

Intended work stream after Apocalypse Cultivation 1 is done

After Apocalypse Cultivation is finished in about a week, I plan to work on 3 books at once.  The allocation of my time will be something like this:

50% Secret of the Old Ones 2 (will be on RR)

10% Delvers LLC 5  (will only be on Patreon)

Moving through the woods felt even more natural now.  Jake flowed like a shadow.  He grinned in appreciation as his new cloak fitted itself tightly to his body on its own, letting him move without getting caught on things or making extra noise.

The Deep Heavens Solistic Midnight Cloak kind of didn't look like a cloak anymore, more like a cape with some sleeves, but it was definitely living up to the hype of a rank A reward from a challenge room.
